Momentum ahead of Valencia tie

235

Having come through a tortuous December, Celtic will have the opportunity to regain momentum with six of their next seven games at home.  The only away match in the series a return to McDiarmid Park, where they inflicted a 0-6 defeat on St Johnstone earlier this season.

Sixth placed St Johnstone are the highest-ranking domestic team they face on that run, who Celtic also play at home on 30 January, before facing Valencia at Celtic Park on Valentine’s Day.

Forthcoming games against Airdrie in the Scottish Cup, then St Mirren and Hamilton in the league, will give Brendan Rodgers an opportunity to give Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo some game time.  We have time to prepare for the big game on Valentine’s.

My expectations have been formed by the insider knowledge of CQN posters.

The vast majority have told me that we will do no business at all until the last minute and then we’ll sell one of our stars and buy a couple of duds.

Consequently, I refuse to believe the club propaganda that they have made 2 transfer signings and 2 loan signings already.

    Fake news, it is!

Oldco dying certainly proved of great assistance.

Interesting news — only 14 years too late.

Not sure what we will be getting for the budget quoted — £2.4mill?

The last comments I can remember was BR’s desire to get a full sized indoor pitch.

Full sized as in a CP style 105m x 69m pitch.

Rubb UK have some history with these types of facilities — Sunderland looks good.

The prices quoted for their developments would suggest a lot better value than the £15mill plus figures put forward for Toryglen and Ravenscraig. However I think the build cost alone would be £3mill at least for a CP sized pitch.

At least their design model goes up to an internal width of 82m without any expensive or complex geometry. Interesting to see what type of indoor pitch turns up at Barrowfield or anywhere else in the East.

Youth / reserve / women’s games — how many people would turn up to watch and what would they pay?

If we were cute we could charge £2 each and give it to charity.

Then make our money of the hot food outlets and make a fortune.

You could call it the printer business model …

50 games a season — Friday nights / Sunday afternoons.

Seats for at least 2K people — might be a goer and then some.

Who owns the plot in front of the Emirates?

    Much better location than Barrowfield.

  4. Rubb UK indoor pitch at Sunderland = £3mill build cost in 2012.

    Bit small — 82m x 66m internal / gross against a CP at 105m x 69m playing surface.

Strangely the clearspan is the longer axis — 82m.

Just need to change the orientation of the pitch and extend the 66m length out to 115m at least.

The extra space could be used to install a few seats / spectator facilities.

Again 2K Seats should be possible.

The club and company are inseparable, so no need to go into company/club debate.

I’m not suggesting that Ntcham hasn’t been off the boil. But it’s pointless selling Ntcham this window and weakening the team. The league is not a forgone conclusion, so we really shouldn’t be losing any first team players this window.

  8. Sounds like a decent plan

    Sell Olivier Ntcham

Sign a couple of Bhoys ( McCarthy and Wanyama) on 5 month loan deals

Would be a very interesting debate with the TFOD.

We could discuss how they managed to win 2009 / 2010 / 2011.

Look at the influence of the MIB Ludge and the fair winds that they were presented with.

2009 / WF window — seven points ahead and blew it.

The inability to score in either of the two last games that season.

2010 / BTM in the hot seat — he was 11th in a short list of 12.

Only MMcG was a worse candidate.

2011 / Stag weekend that won’t wrong — bit unfortunate to meet a focused and energetic ICT as we did. Plus some incredible MIB Ludge action although by then that was a given and not a surprise.

Once we have discussed we can look at reasons why we were handed 2012 on a plate.

The corpse put up a bit of a fight but by then it was all too late.

“Our Board don’t appear to be willing to even operate at our maximum capacity to try and achieve 10 in a row, never mind push the boat out.”

You have to wonder how they fluked the first 7 titles with such an attitude.

    ———

Not the point that i was making. Based on your comments i assume you feel the Board have operated at maximum capacity and are doing so now?

  16. SUPERSUTTON @ 10.25

Fair shout, Celtic portals following the story are all consumed by ‘the window’ some no doubt fed up because no matter what happens in court GLIB and Sevco stroll on.

We also lost the moral high ground by allowing our standards to slip to the extent we got mugged in Govan.

  17. Perhaps if NT’cham had been given a consistent role and position he would have been less inconsistent?

The guy has been a victim of tinkering.

As Bada Bing said we will probably sell if the 12 to 14 million banded about is correct but all that would result in was a bigger cash reserve and weaker squad.

    Got to stick with priorities.

  18. Yaya says maybe on MNF. He’ll speak with Brendan. Then says one more year at the top level so probably not.
