Newco born from patronage of monetary inducements

740

Let’s be clear about what is going to happen on Friday.  Monetary inducements are being made to allow a newly created company to advance its football team two divisions up the league structure.

The overwhelming majority of money to pay for these financial inducements will be taken from Celtic, who vehemently oppose all these measures.  The SPL will reduce the commercial distribution to the top club in the league and pay-off everyone else.  41 teams will benefit financially from this proposition, only Celtic will lose.

For good measure, the SPL have declined to take gate sharing off the table.  Up to 30% of your season ticket money will soon be commandeered by Kilmarnock, Motherwell and the rest, who will take their slice and share some with the lower leagues.

All the while you can scarcely find a football fan of any club who is anything other than disgusted by this shoddy behaviour; Celtic fans are by no means isolated.  Most fans of former-club, Rangers, don’t want to see a phoenix assisted by such blatant patronage, lest Newco is forever known as a team which needed rules to be changed and money taken from Celtic to give it life.

Believe me, if Newco exists for 100 years, every day they score a goal someone will say, “They are only there because the rules were changed to help them and money was taken from Celtic to pay for it”.

They will forever be known as the Establishment club with definitive evidence that they benefited from the Establishment’s help.

The once-proud era of Scottish league football is surely over, what we are witnessing is merely evidence of this fact.  ‘Sport’ as gone from our football. Fans, clubs and the national bodies must accept this reality and start to make forward plans to breathe the oxygen of genuine competition into our game.

Where is Michel Platini when football really needs some help?

To be fair to the Twin Towers, they did withstand the impact of large commercial airliners. It was the fire that brought them down. What bothers me about conspiracy theorist is that they still cling on to disproved arguments. It discredits the points that really need looking at and just makes them look silly.

  2. When did gate sharing stop in Scotland, does anyone know?

Was it before or after we won the European Cup?

  3. Ok Silver City there is nobody conspiring to get some form of hun into some sort of league next season, we are all paranoid! I must look really silly, maybe I am just paranoid.

Sevco don’t need anyone to conspire to get into some form of league – they just have to apply.

lol You sure know how to change your tune……”I like Alex Thomson but….twin towers…. explosives in every floor.”

Well now, just you content yourself that there arent any Masonic judges, at least not sitting on the EBT appeal case ruling, influenced by the Establishments concern for “social unrest”. Prim your roses time me thinks :-)

I don’t think it would be Armageddon if we did.

I wouldn’t want to go to 50/50 though.

ernie-I wouldn’t’ be against handing back a % of visiting support’s money, but if that was applied to CFC it would negate any extra money for Clubs.Unless you are suggesting we don’t take money back when visiting other Clubs?

That has yet to be disproved to anything approaching my satisfaction. I was thinking about the magic bullet theory in the JFK assasination and just about everything to do with the moon landing.

  10. Rather than share the gate money, why don’t they distrubute the spl money evenly, that would be a better comprimise.

After all it’s really no our problem that the other clubs have cowtowed to the huns all these years and let their own business go down the pan is it….

  11. If they want to share gate money then we could give then 50% of the gate receipts of the travelling fans. Then of course we would take the same from our visits to them I would vote for that but I very much doubt any of the other Chairman would.

Which, of course, is the reason why they framed The Juice.

  13. Why gate-sharing in a skewed league is bad:

    – for the smaller, receiving clubs, it reduces the incentives (to raise cash) to produce your own players

    – for the bigger, giving club, it reduces income ergo ‘something’ gives. ‘Something’ takes the form of short term sales of ‘star players’ and often a downsizing also of youth development.

Comparisons with yesteryear are utterly irrelevant in this argument in that crowd sizes were not so disparate as they are now and also merchandising income was very level amongts clubs, i.e. pretty much non-existent.

Incomes/turnover at the five biggest clubs in Scotland were within a margin of around +/-20% of the 3rd largest club. Income/turnover at Celtic next season, assuming CL group stages, will outstrip the rest of the SPL put together.

Gate sharing will not fix this.

Is it possible to turn our backs on Scottish Football, yet etain our support for Celtic (Should the worms get their way on Friday?)

  15. Gate sharing IS going to happen.

The only reason it didn’t happen before is because the old firm stopped it.

They just need to apply to the league to get in, ok, but there is nobody conspiring to let them jump two leagues without kicking a ball then? Well that is ok so if they provide three years accounts they get in? Nobody else wants to join the SFL? Nobody is conspiring to get a new team into top division of SFL? So I am officially paranoid? Do they automatically get handed the trophies for division 3 and division 2, remind me to avoid Govan way that night.

To be fair, all I’ve done is back up my points on Sevco with facts; the supposed Masonic influence has done nothing to prevent liquidation for Rangers or earn Sevco a place in the SPL

You, by your own admission, are unable to provide any proof to back up your claims.

I couldn’t possibly say there are or there are not any Masonic judges involved in the EBT ruling, because like you I don’t know who the judges are.

Agree, the strongest teams tend to come from the strongest leagues, but a more competitive league in Scotland won’t neccessarily mean a stronger Celtic if it happens because of a general downsizing.

PL has said that we have a positive forward plan for the club in the post -huns era. The minute it becomes clear that we haven’t, that is when I will join the naysayers.

    I agree.

There may well be the will to see them flounder, but the collective self preservation is far greater I fear.

Problem is once they change the boundaries, they ain’t gonna be changed back any time soon, they are gone from the spl now, no vote Im afraid.

There are plenty of people conspiring to get them into Division One – the same people who conspired to get them into the SPL.

They failed to get into the SPL because there are more people who put sporting integrity ahead of money. They will fail to get into Division One again for the same reasons.

Then all Sevco have to do is apply to join Division Three without requiring the help of anyone else. Just abide by the rules. I know that doesn’t come naturally to anyone involved with football down Ibrox way.

  29. In which I take a closer look at the resolution before the meeting on Friday. It looks as if the SFL members are being sold a pig in a poke, except they have not even been shown the poke, never mind the pig!

A cynic would say that the resolution is designed for one purpose only – to allow “Rangers FC” into SFL1. However, even if passed, it seems to leave loose ends flapping about, as well as an almost impossible task for the three ruling bodies to reach agreement – impossible due to the time available and also the small matter of the rules and constitutions of the relevant bodies!
