Adam Matthews has been on top form this season, his pace and partnership with Mikael Lustig have been unfailing for Celtic, so Neil Lennon will clearly feel robbed at a top players injury-enforced absence for three months.
It could be worse.
An injury to Forster, Ambrose, van Dijk or Izaguirre would be difficult to accommodate but we are not short of right side-midfield options. James Forrest is now back from injury and although Derk Boerrigter joined as a left-sided player, he has already featured on the right for Celtic. If Boerrigter plays on the left Samaras, Commons and Stokes can all feature on the right.
One man’s cloud is another’s silver lining, just ask Beram Kayal, who kept Victor Wanyama on the bench until he was injured in December 2011. Victor got the run in the team he needed and never looked back.
Signing van Dijk was a response to an unexpected transfer request/not in the right frame of mind to pull a jersey on statement from Kelvin Wilson, but the major planned summer activity was to inject pace into the team for Champions League games, specifically through Boerrigter and Pukki. For various reasons we’re not there yet, maybe Ajax at home later this month will change that.
Blown away by the 1254125 donations, which have flooded in since Friday. Each donor, from those who donated £5 to the several who gave £125 (like it!) are a credit to the spirit of those whose footsteps you walk in. Promise to stop pestering with a link to the page. Soon.
Thank you.

Just a point is the pony house trained or does the wee woman have a very big shovel?…

Adam will be missed in the remaining four CL games. His pace caused Milan a lot of problems. I agree with those who are saying there needs to be a more forthright response from the club to dangerous play that goes unpunished in the SPL. Neil should know better, he never indulged in the kind of tackles that we have seen from McCulloch (on Kayal) and Lasley. After the toxic club, it is the toleration of this kind of dangerous play that is the worst stain on the Scottish game.
thomthethim:
Tommy Burns was Baggar Vance was Tommy Burns, for me, his/their genius was in their empathy and encouragement.
I have no idea what Jim McGuiness’s job description reads like, but I do know that despite all the talent and the promise, nobody has established themselves in the first team since his arrival. I’m not saying that is his fault, I’m saying I don’t know why he’s there.
Delaneys Dunky:
I was going to post about John Kennedy earlier but I binned it. I like John Kennedy.

We were in Rome for 10 days in June, my limited advice is please be very aware of the pickpockets. I thought my 80 euros were safe in a velcroed shut, patch pocket on the front of my trousers, but in the crowds inside the Pantheon it disappeared, I was aware of a child of about 10yrs falling against me but never suspected anything.

Good news that Big Nan’s online secret society petition has broken the 2000 mark. I signed it a week or so back and posted it on my FB page. Went on today to comment on the new total and guess what. It’s gone. I have reposted it on FB. Anyone else had this or similar?

………………………………….
Good news indeed and yes, strange things happen when the freemasons are involved.
I was suspended from FB for 30 days, without warning for simply posting the parliament’s link to the petition with a simple “please consider signing” message!
Back in 2002/03 when I lodged a similar petition (see what I did there?) I had a frank and polite exchange of views (no swearing) with a clerk at the parliament over the telephone about my petition and the same day visited the old, temporary, parliament to observe the committee’s deliberations. As walked into the building I was immediately accosted by a seven foot tall police officer who asked me to confirm my identity as the petitioner of PE 306 and then told me to accompany him into a side room to be interviewed re my earlier phone call with the clerk.
I told him in no uncertain terms what he could do and complained to the presiding officer about this outrageous infringement of my privacy and civil liberties and demanded to know how the policeman knew about my telephone conversations and identity.
David Steel, the Presiding Officer investigated and apologised but he didn’t answer my question.
Just one example. I could go on with some more tales, some amusing about my brushes with the Craft, who were well-named the Mafia of the Mediocre by Martin Short.

In response to winning captains 13:27 to Post today for inclusion in the CQN Annual
p.s can we still get CQN badges
Jim McGuiness is most definately not the ‘hand on the shoulder’ type – he went through the Donegal team in his first 2 months like a dose of salts and turned a team of boozers and messers into all Ireland champions – he is totally ruthless and anyone he suspects does not give 100% will not last long
John Kennedy is the man more likely to take over Tommy’s role, him or Danny McGrain

winning captains:
appreciated.
I don’t quite understand the reasoning of anyone who is happy to post on here yet requests that their moniker not appear in the annual.
I respect their choice-of course I do-but it does seem a strange one.
Not a pop at any particular poster, btw,as I notice a few have made the same request.
But then there are a lot if things I don’t understand, and DBBIA’s mention of the Hadron Collider and The Higgs-Bison Particle is the least of my worries!
I was away on holidays for most of the last 2 weeks but I noticed this snippet on the BBC website that made me laugh very heartily indeed. Apologies if it was already posted by someone else at the time. I have to say I laughed my ballex off! Willie Frazer’s court appearance last week! Its like something out of Monty Python. Have a look at this short video and if you don’t laugh out loud there is something wrong with you!

“Murdoch was a very intelligent player, strong and energetic, and moved up and down the field for the whole game
I considered it an honour and compliment to me that he had been told to mark me. A very clean player, a gentleman.
We played football like a game of chess, I would get the ball and look up and he was always there directly between me and the goal, or he would always be there to steer me away to the side, or in a position to intercept a pass.
A wonderful footballer. “
