Other Scottish clubs would be better off if Celtic Park and Ibrox didn’t exist

1234

There comes a time during any endeavour when you have to ask, is this worth all the hassle?  News revealed by Phil MacGiollabhain last week and swiftly picked up by the newspapers today that an SFA executive has had his life threatened for what some regard as holding a firm line on application of the game’s rules, are one of these occasions.

This is sport, it is not the struggle against apartheid.  It really, really, isn’t worth putting your life on the line for.

The SFA executive who received the threat has not been named but he will hopefully find a degree of fortitude in the face of such intimidation.  We have called for resignations from the SFA but not under these circumstances.  If the recipient of the threat continues to work as normal they should be commended for their bravery.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to put football back on solid ground but whatever our game looks like in future, it must take on a different face.  Ordinary football fans want their sport back, a sport where honesty and endeavour can be rewarded by success on the field.

That will have consequences for us.  Celtic are far too powerful for any other club in Scotland to genuinely compete.  35 of our 41 clubs figured out they can do without Rangers and 34 of them know they can do without Celtic too.

They should remind Sevco rules are there for a reason and tell Celtic to stop mumbling about finding another league to play in and go do something about it.  I could not be more convinced that every other club in Scotland would be better off if Celtic Park and Ibrox didn’t exist.

Question is, do the rest of the clubs have the balls to do something about it?  Is the ‘Arab Spring in Scottish football’ over, or does it still have another chapter?

Over there period we have had good teams and poor teams. But they paid our taxes kept our debt under controll in hard times.Hoping over the next 3-5 yrs we get a good return from the money we have put into our youth policy.Which ive been told is light years ahead of anything in Scotland and better than what most EPL teams have got.

Still think £25.50 is a fair price to watch the famous Glasgow Celtic.Don`t support any other team so don`t care what they charge thier fans.

Not going to argue with that. This year we have bought 2 books between three of us and I am still trying to work out if I can afford to buy one for my 13 year old or just buy as I go.

  18. CFC will always be based at CP, but, mark my words, in a few years time (pick a number between 5 and 50), will be playing in a European Super League! Motherwell, Paisley, Aberdeen, Edinburgh…change these for Milan, Paris, Amsterdam and eh, another city that starts with an E! There will be a CFC membership scheme which will raise TENS of millions of pounds each season! We will also have our own stand-alone TV deal with BT Vision (courtesy of Ian Livingston), which will provide over a HUNDRED million pounds in revenue each season! CFC will be competing at the highest level each season, and CP will have a capacity of 100,000 with a retractable roof to keep out the inclement Scottish weather!

There’s a link creator at the top of the page. You put in a title in one box then copy your web address into the box below.

  20. This is from the rangers site and I just cant stop laughing! Bibs and Fat Sally shouting from the Directors box. lol!!

RANGERS’ players continued their summer programme this morning by taking to the brand new Ibrox pitch for the first time to train.

In sunny conditions at the stadium, the group warmed up on the magnificent surface then took part in three 30-minute matches while they remain unable to play pre-season friendlies.

In the first game, boss Ally McCoist picked two fairly evenly-matched sides containing both first-team regulars from last term and youth players.

Teenager Barrie McKay gave the team without bibs a lead before Kal Naismith struck twice in a couple of minutes to turn the contest on its head and give his group a 2-1 win.

In the second fixture, McCoist mixed the group up and introduced midfielder Andrew Murdoch for trialist Ian Black as he continues his comeback from a hernia operation.

The former Hearts player showed some nice touches while he was on the park and looked composed, with fellow ex-Jambo Craig Beattie also making a contribution.

With personnel changes made, the non-bibbed team was something close to the starting XI which will play Brechin on Sunday if a transfer of the old company’s SFA membership is granted.

And it was no surprise the more experienced side won, with Alejandro Bedoya notching a double prior to McKay’s second of the day in a 3-0 victory.

Manager McCoist was vocal throughout as he shouted instructions to his players from the Directors Box.

The final game of the day had less incidents to report as the two teams played out a 2-0 win for the bibbed side, with Kirk Broadfoot and Lee McCulloch scoring.

Did I just read some posts comparing The Derry Pele with Pirlo? Brilliant fantasy stuff guys but the reality is our Paddy can only dream about the application and abstinence Pirlo will drive his body to deliver performance after performance. Consistently at the highest level.

It’s a nice image and I would love it to come true but our Paddy simply lacks the discipline needed to have sustained success at Celtic.

The pubs in Gladgow are full of guys we all know had it …but lacked the vital ingredient necessary to make it .

Fair play to Paddy he got to wear the colours and score some fine outstanding goals

He is not part of the future at CP…mores the pity.
