Our game in jeopardy. There are no words

548

Footballers may be our champions, but you probably have little idea the trouble that goes into getting some mundane, but not contracted, tasks completed.  There are exceptions, but the industry has a hierarchical system where the powerful (players) make sure their powerless colleagues (anyone else employed by the club who is not the coach or CEO) know their place in the food chain.  Even within the players group, the hierarchy is alive and well.

I have seen this with my own eyes going back as far as Martin O’Neill’s team and it can be brutal.  “Welcome to the club, son, now you better start acting like Beyonce”, seems to be how it goes.  We treat them like pampered superstars and they behave accordingly.  They certainly don’t need to worry about the people who ultimately pay their wages, because their wages are guaranteed, often for years.

Today, I feel resentment towards players as a group, which I know is unfair.  All the minor infractions I have been aware of over the years were brought to the surface by one major infraction.  That’s judging a group by the actions of a few, and we have names for that kind of thinking.  Better to remember Callum McGregor and Scott Brown reaching out to the dying.  Some players ‘get it’ and I am grateful for that.

The game in Scotland and Celtic’s European campaign is in jeopardy because of the actions of one Celtic player.  There are no words.  He can take a taxi back to the airport in two weeks.  Some others could do with a dose of humility, and learn to behave less like divas and more like respectful adults.

    Hammer Celtic.

Get the exam results fiasco off the front pages.

    Everyone’s a winner.

This of all season’s required Celtic to quietly and efficiently go about its business.

Bolingoli has 2 months to find a new club and must never again wear a Celtic shirt.

In the case of forfeit, thankfully one is against Aberdeen then. Can we both win 3-0!

Should not expect to see Aberdeen or Celtic play over course of week – Sturgeon

The first minister goes on to say “as minimum you should not be expecting to see Aberdeen or Celtic play over the course of the coming week.”

Sturgeon also confirms further details will be released later today.

  4. It does seems like a bit of political spin here though.

I mean, if I lived in the same house as Boli, he would be made to self isolate after Spain and I would be free to go about my business unless Boli developed symptoms.

He hasn’t developed symptoms, tested negative twice and our entire squad are effectively quarantined ?

  5. We seem to be lacking in professionalism right throughout the club.

Early days, though concerned with what I’m seeing.

This is not the season to be making errors

  6. garygillespieshamstring on

Not yet. Roxburghshire fully booked. Waiting on others to get back. What tee off time would suit?

About an hour drive to both from here.

  7. Sturgeon is exactly correct. She has been making it clear on a DAILY basis what is expected of everyone in the combat against this pandemic. That includes Bolingoli who is obviously a full time IDIOT and should be out the door PDQ.

Pistol Pete owes society a clear apology. Get it done!

This does not underwrite our 10 IAR effort. Sadly.

  8. CELTIC40ME @ 12:50 PM,

    Oh people care alright…

Only the people who were fooled or turned a blind eye to this don’t care.

Someone who can sit in his ivory tower and take accolades for everything that goes well at Celtic and pass blame and excuses for all that goes wrong…

…That’s leadership? Not in my book.

The culture at Celtic is rotten…

I care very much and the pre-season and start to this season has been a shambled – You slept walked into this not me.

    Hail Hail

  9. Will there be any additional financial implications for us ?

Will clubs, bookies, sky etc want recompense for any loss. ?

  10. CHAIRBHOY on 11TH AUGUST 2020 12:43 PM

Can you explain to me why the Aberdeen Chairman is responsible for what goes on at his club but the autocratic Pedro is blamless when it comes to Celtic.

Of course it’s his fault, the only thing twisting are the fholks who deny that self evident truthe.

    CHAIRBHOY on 11TH AUGUST 2020 12:46 PM

That is a Celtic Football Club statement, I read it. (Not PLC btw).

Dave Cormack made a personal statement and personal apology… showing humility.

    Where’s Peter Lawwel’s?

    Hail Hail

    _____________

It’s amazing how in a time of crisis certain opportunists start taking shots.

This reaction is quite frankly beyond me. The dust has yet to settle.

  11. When are we going to play these two games ? We could be 4 games behind the hun if we get to the SC final. Disastrous. I’m worried about the standards within our club.

  12. For what it’s worth, I dont believe Boli will be the last flouter here.

Clubs and individuals may wish to consider how they express their concerns

  13. Football is now in the realm of politics — so I am taking some time off from Nat bashing to get back into sport.

Sturgeon’s comments about the Sheep were out of order given her own warm words for her own employee who got caught out by CoViD19.

The Sheep got it big — both barrels right across the squad and the management / rinse and repeat for good measure.

She was all warm words and sympathy / understanding for her useless CMO — compare and contrast.

Any news on how this will all impact the CL qualifier?

  14. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Bolingoli has been a rotten signing. But it’s one thing to be a poor player, another entirely to be this breathtakingly selfish. His character is even more rotten than his play. Get rid.

  15. why should our next couple of games being called off cost us the league when quite clearly our players need time off as was given last week.

  16. Following on from the Killie shambles , we wake up to this disgraceful situation. Sevco could be 8 clear if our games against St Mirren and Aberdeen are off. Sadly – but completely expectedly – the Scottish MSM are orgasmic today . Lost their tongues earlier this morning when SG indulged in some self congratulatory stuff about how his club have handled the pandemic. No questions from the floor about the recent testing fiasco ahead of a friendly.

The MSM also had wax in their ears at a presser last week when SG put them straight on the reported fees for their two strikers. But the inept, incompetent, galloots failed to follow that up preferring to follow (follow) the guidance from their beloved Ipox PR department i.e. no negative news. The figures were inflated, SG stated, if Jackson & Co want me to simplify it for them.

In fairness, you can’t expect to take shots at one chairman for breaches by his club’s player and then exempt another for similar incidents.

Also, when is the time to discuss it if not now? Republicans use that excuse re gun violence. I.e kick it into the long grass.

This season has had an inauspicious start. We look languid and disorganised across the organisation.

  18. Chairbhoy

    ,

Give it a rest.Much more important connotations than your dislike for PL.

Huns win their next two games, they go 8 points clear.Yes we have 2 games in hand, but no slots to play them.It could be next year before dates are available, and with this Virus, who knows, league could be called early. We are in a very precarious position because of this idiot. We lose game time before CL game, just when we were saying ,”At least we are not going into these games cold”.

  19. “It’s amazing how in a time of crisis certain opportunists start taking shots.

This reaction is quite frankly beyond me. The dust has yet to settle.”

    Whit????

This has exactly NOTHING to do with “opportunists taking shots”

If Bolingoli was any good at “taking shots”, we would not be in this mess.

    He went to SPAIN FFS!!!

  20. In my company the managing director made a clear statement in April. Any employee who goes abroad will self isolate when they came back

It was made clear that and we all sighed to

Understand our obligations and consequences of failure

I hope we see that info from Celtic

Without that shows negligence at very top and not just boli should walk

  21. TIMALOY29 @ 1:00 PM,

That’s an absolute nonsense and you know it, I’ve been daying it season after season.

If I remember the last time you pulled me up it was because I didn’t rate Jullien highly.

You suggested apart from Mjaliby and VVD he was the best CH we’ve had this century.

I’ll stick with my judgement thanks

    Hail Hail

  22. Of course we need to accept the Punishment but

Personally I have a view that with a government So limited in its scope it is a joke the way I. Which folk are comparing Johnston to Sturgeon in their management of a crisis. Johnston has full responsibility vs Sturgeon who can pass a buck. Johnston is a bad joke of course.

However sadly the spin of this breach will be the issue. We will be the example made regardless of a disproportionate impact.

That said 3 points forfeited would still seem fair to me for Sunday. ( net only 1pt ). Sure if we feel it is wrong then postpone tomorrow. To have us kicked out of European football is an over the top judgement.

As for the bonkers rules Re quarantine and who is making these up. Maybe someone should ask what the hell are these all really based on other then total guesswork.

No one has a clue frankly. We do know that there are virtually no incremental fatalities anywhere despite these pockets of new positive tests. And despite loads of incremental tests now taking place.

Surely some sense in managing the ‘fear’ has to be a priority also.

As for fixture crowding 2 midweek games is manageable btw. Esp early season.

  23. Rolling Stone,

Ridiculous to mention Republicans and gun violence. Were is the connection to PL making a statement.

    Ridiculous analogy.

  24. the long wait is over on

Does Bolingoli think he can ever pull on the shirt again?

I appreciate that it should be the same rule/ consequences for all employees from the club’s point of view as an employer but, rightly, different players inevitably have different loyalty/ levels of support from fans.

Boli’s popularity with the fans was shaky at best.

It’s completely evaporated now – for that reason alone he’s finished.

Even if he ever got back to wearing the shirt , he’d get slaughtered for any mistake he made.

  25. Does this mean Kilmarnock games will be postponed as Boli was on the pitch against them on Sunday ?
