  1. We’re through. Griff and Dembele in scoresheet. Gamboa played well. A lot of positives.

Unfortunately even against Thistle our defenders make costly mistakes under very little pressure.

I like Ajer but if he dives needlessly in like he did, he has to win the ball. Having young central defenders with potential isn’t much good in the here and now with stupid goals conceded now almost every game.

  2. CM cut back. Defended.

Moussa and Tom spare our blushes but hardly a performance to inspire us for Thursday.

  3. Another early-season visit to Thistle.

Another win after a poor performance.

Better performance than last season when we scraped by 1-0 and the SMSM Huns got ever-so-excited that we were beatable by their favourites.

    Job done.

We move on to Europa qualifying and raising performance level to a season high two weeks tomorrow.

  4. Just about enough from Celtic.

Hendry is a complete liability and needs to be sent out on loan or reserve team football.

  5. Don’t know if we can read too much into that apart from stating the obvious. Our defence desperately requires a major overhaul. I would not be confident of our not conceding goals against a decent SPFL team let alone a quality European side.

    Scousers love Celtic

This is how it feels to be Celtic.

Stevie G is here for 10 in a row.

Everton fans laugh at how thick SG is.

It’s gonna be a long season. With this defence the treble treble has gone.

I bet your the life and soul at BBQ’s :-)

  8. If no flare/smoke bomb throwers or IRA singers are apprehended, charged and convicted and confirmed as Celtic supporters I would be suspicious about who they really are or represent.

  9. Through to the next round which is all that matters but dear God for those 20 minutes before Thistle equalised that woeful 10-12 passes between both CHs and Broony is terrible and all done at walking pace.

Thistle equalise and we start to have quick passing and running why didn’t we do that before their goal?!

  10. Where do those eejits buy the flares/ smoke bombs. Aren’t there any restrictions on who can buy these?

  11. Why do we wait until opponents score before unleashing our fullbacks?

Great from Gamboa but where was he earlier.

Was the same on Wednesday as KT only started to attack when we went to 2 down.

The first time I saw Jack Hendry I thought he was rotten. My opinion of him has not changed. He needs sold.

  13. Ambivalent in regards to Irish songs of rebellion being sang however it seems to upset some posters more than our oh so porous defence.

  14. glendalystonsils on

I don’t know what I was expecting today but it certainly wasn’t that. 2 minutes of Gamboa inspired magic saved this from being an utterly dire spectacle.

There still seems to be a bit of a cloud around the team at the moment (not just the one from the green flares).

Interesting to see our defence struggle even against modest opposition. Easy to see what our priorities are for the rest of the transfer window.

Keep Moussa and add at least 1 first team ready CB. Hendry looks as if it’s all a bit too much for him at present.

  15. Had Gamboa played in either of the Athens games we would not have lost.

Loving the hurting Huns on here though. Enjoy your first Stevie G defeat tomorrow on the plastic.

For me the mediocrity of a double treble and 7 in a row is something I can live with. If some of the clowns feeding the eager media their cracked crest photo for tomorrow had lived through the 20s to the mid 60s or the late 80s to the late 90s they might realise that the current boards have created a great platform for success for our club in a rigged market. Entitlement CSC or what ?

  16. not one for criticising our players ( cough cough ) but JH & Ajer will never ever make a centre back pairing, i have been reluctant to voice my opinion by giving them both some time but i see no improvement in either whether thats down to lack of ability or poor coaching i’m not so sure but on what i’m watching them play they are hopeless/struggling at this level

BURGAS HOOPS on 18TH AUGUST 2018 2:29 PM

Lol I’m really quite a pleasant person.

I only get agitated watching poor performances and sh@t defensive plyrs who cost us 2 European goals and £40+ mill. ??

  18. I dont agree with fans throwing flares on to the pitch. However, there were loads of flares from the AEK fans the other night and I dont recall anyone posting their objections about that.

  19. Better than I’d hoped today. Saw this as something of a banana skin.

Some experienced players starting to show again.

I mentioned earlier, we have been negligent in our failure to address defensive frailties. These have been discussed, at length, here and elsewhere. I have not changed my opinion.

Keeper looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.

    Good day at the office.

  20. Couldn’t care less about signing those songs …..other than it seems a bit stupid and out dated. Most of Ireland has long moved on and remember the past respectfully. It seems only our support want to chant about it at football games.

Flares and pyros are annoying, stupid and dangerous.

  21. I said earlier that I felt Jack Hendry had it in him to become a top player IF TGFITW offered him encouragement and did not castigate him. I fear the latter is more likely than the former.

    Cheerio for now.

Watching Jack Hendry is like watching Willie Garner in my youth.

    ================================

    Ha ha, big Willie Garner.

All-in honest big clugger. Sphincter-clenching, heart-stopping defending, tho.

No coincidence I started grinding my teeth in my sleep after we signed him.

  23. Ok Lustig might be nearing the end of a great career but I’ve never seen anyone NOT playing getting such a pasting on line.

We were pedestrian for most of the game, Scott Brown in particular had as poor a game as I can recall.

Sinclair still gives possession away because his first touch is poor, but that can come and go.

Our midfield needs stiffened and a more experienced CB is a must to save Hendry from himself.

BR not happy at all with our lack of pressing and slowness of play as I was. Does that make me a good manager? :)

  24. Look at the goal we conceded.

Hendry should have closed down and blocked the shot.

But the move began by them not for the first time walking through our poorly spaced midfield and Brown just stopped running allowing guy time and space to make pass.

Better defenders would help but until we have a midfield that learns responsibility and position when opponents have the ball we will still concede.

Gamboa gives us a forward threat but he is poor defensively so would be better suited at wing back.

Was good to see JF facing forward today.I still cant understand his performance on Wednesday.

Moussa showed today who the clubs best striker is.He is vital to our success.

  25. HOT SMOKED on 18TH AUGUST 2018 2:40 PM

Aye its the fans fault he cant tackle, pass, head a ball, has no pace, and looks scared out his wits.

    Nonsense staeent

  26. Hendry getting pelters again? I don’t get it. He played really well today and when he does something good it is never mentioned by the commentary team.

He made two mistakes today. One when he got caught with the ball after being indecisive. Came to nothing. The other when he failed to block the shot for the goal. Looks like he thought the player was going to stop the ball and cut inside and therefore didn’t go to ground with a sliding tackle. I’m not going to slate him for that.

Criticise Ntcham, Brown and Ajer. Any of them could have prevented the opportunity long before it became Hendry’s mistake.
