Payoffs, what price silence in these circumstances?

883

There’s lots of understandable media interest in the anticipated parting of the ways of ‘Greatest (only) Ever Rangers Manager’ Ally McCoist and newco.  McCoist, as ever, has let it be known that he’s looking for a £400k golden handshake, which will almost certainly have the club offer more of its commercial assets to Mike Ashley if it is to be funded.

I hope he gets everything he asks for, bleed them dry, Ally, even if they need to sell more of their IP.

Irrespective of the final settlement, the most important outcome of the termination meetings is whether or not McCoist agrees to a silence clause in return for his cash.  More than anything else, this club needs some straight talking from trusted sources who know where the bodies are buried.

The cash will be tempting for Ally, but his open and frank voice going forward is of vastly more value to his club, if not to him.  The most debilitating scenario would be an Ashley-funded settlement with a silence clause.  Go for it, Ally.

I know at Christmas your thoughts are never far from Billy No’well.  Billy has broken new ground in the Bampot stakes and released a DVD with 17(!) of his videos.  Full details here.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – tons of great reading and photos on your favourite indulgence.

If you’re late on the blog, there was an earlier article today.

    5. Celtic PLC were instrumental in the 5 way agreement. Not really news there. I know our custodians are charlatans

  5. Regarding the Roll of Honour in the CQN Annual – as TET says we did this over a weekend towards the end of October. The Roll of Honour is also printed at the end of Caesar & The Assassin.

In previous years we started a list, people asked to be added to it and it came together that way. This time there has been so much happening that we figured that it would be less welcome this year.

If I posted my honest thoughts on here I’d be banned even if I supported them with evidence. I doubt I can bite my tongue much longer. I’ve read so much crap and I see good people’s being lead from the truth. Being open and honest are not qualities respected or accepted in Scottish football but I’m tempted. Even if I’m aware it will result in an assassination of my character.

Playschool kids could figure out what is going on, so why is it we are being asked to believe Celtic can’t deal with it, speak about it or act in any way because they only have one vote. The only example of equality in Scottish football.

  7. Winning Captains,

Hold on a minute, u saying I didn’t just miss a list but a Roll of Honour….I stand by my last ;-))

Can you give me an example of anytime you have not found a postive reason to supports Celtic’s disgraceful behaviour.

Being dicked by the SFA and RFC hurts. It is unforgivable from Celtic.

  9. Peter Lawell in on the five way deal …sacre blu

    Not in person surely………….?

In fact most football clubs in Scotland were in on the deal I would expect

That is why they got another chance

They could have buried them for good if they all wanted to

Alas institutional importance and economics got in the way of that happening

Bet they wished they made them start again properly now

    Oh the blessed irony

Not sure about SFA justice. It establishes that, in the absence witnesses, the complainant is reliable – because he has made an allegation – whereas the accused is likely to be unreliable – mainly because he has been accused.

Certainly, the Aberdeen player did appear genuinely upset when he approached the fourth official. It looked like he believed himself to be a victim of an outrage.

But that doesn’t rule out a misinterpretation of Tonev’s remark.

  11. Margaret mcgill,

If it helps I didn’t make it in this year, although I did post that weekend! It happened the weekend we were up at Ross County.

  14. Just about to hit ma cot…..

Margaret McGill, I am definitely not looking for an argument as I know better not to argue with a woman as I have never won any argument with one before so I won’t start now….your “7-way agreement” some parts might be correct some might be incorrect, but in my humble opinion everybody is free to express their opinion but some take great delight in trying to “put the boot in” all the scandal that has went on in Scottish football I have yet to see “our” plc board do anything untoward, as I have already stated I am just one of the so called happy clappers whatever that actually means but please enjoy following Celtic because when it is bad I think it is still good and just now I think it’s actually better than good, leave the bonus chasers chasing their bonus and enjoy following the champions and maybe another wee run in the UEFA/Europa cup or whatever it is called now…. Apologies if you think I am being cheeky but just typing as a fan…. Hail Hail…… (glass should always be half full)

On the balance of probability Campbell Ogilivie knew he was cheating Scottish football fans when he set up EBT’s at RFC and knew he as the main man in the SFA he was sticking a finger up your and all of our anuses when he never brought this to the attention of… anyone outside the Freemasons that control ALL of Scottish football.

I could go on and on but I reckon I’m going to have to do that on another forum.

    =======================================

Its frustrating but things are not done to frustrate.

Its just the interdependent nature of football with the added bias in Scotland of TRFC being a source of income the game does not want to lose as well as being the establishment club with its sectarian overtones. The latter 2 are the main reasons why it is difficult to get change voted through. This from earlier today covers the nature of the environment Celtic have to operate in.

As only one of 42? Member clubs Celtic’s power to demand or force change does not exist to the extent some, and it looks like you are amongst them, seem to believe.

Scottish football is a family who are totally dependent on each other for their well being. Even if one acts as RFC did, being viewed as RFC were/are as a major bread winner, then the rest are going to have to consider the impact on them if one perceived major breadwinner leaves the family.

Another big bread winner might be in a better position to live on should the other go, but the other dependent family members might not enjoy that luxury of putting principle first because of its real impact on them.

If put to a family vote to keep the member who misbehaved, then the other major bread winner will know they will be outvoted. So the 5 way was the desire of all SPL clubs.

This is the real politik of Scottish football and there is no point blaming the other major bread winner for not walking away because they simply cannot and survive. They also know that to do so would kill the family.

However as I pointed out yesterday the dynamics have changed in that the other family members are in a much better position to put principles first, having become better earners of their own bread and so less dependent.

Some folk say nothing will change but tend to look back. I say change is inevitable and tend to look forward to observing it happen or trying to help it along.

Its all about how we see things, that inner eye governs our feelings and so our reaction.

Football is an insane industry where common sense is on the outside looking in shaking its head in disbelief and if it does not regain sanity well common sense will walk away.

  19. Morrissey23,

It’s a given that if someone sticks a finger up your arse & that you do nothin, on the balance of probabilities, you ( insert scottish league leaders) are bending over and taking it? ;-))

Can’t argue with the logic….but….can you play another 100 year long game….we can ;-))

    Wow!

    Away and have a shite!

  21. Morrisey the 23rd

The previous is what I think. The following is what I feel and would like to happen also from earlier.

I know the SFA demand for £250K is is just another chapter in the ongoing saga about RFCS use of ebts and I did wonder what prompted the SPFL to finally try and impose the only sanction placed on RFC for 10 years plus of ebt use (excluding of course the illegal ebts used in 1999, 2000 to 2003 that, like the war, gets no mention in German company, gets no mention by SPFL or SFA. The same ebts of which HMRC declared in this extract in bold

    http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/single/?p=13318010&t=9208558

    were ” fraudulent”

The SPFL know by now that their Commission investigating ebts was misled and that they were lied to in 2012. They have been lied to by RIFC since, who appear to have no intention of doing anything honourable.

The BIG issue here is not the money, the big issue is how can Scottish football continue to allow a club who have consistently lied to the rest of the game to be part of that game?

There is no possibility of restoring trust in Scottish football as long as RIFC are being pandered to or being seen to be pandered to.

It is high time RFC/ RIFC were called out.

The evidence so far on wtc ebts, BTC ebts and UEFA 2011 licence is that they operate through deception, but like a battered wife refusing to call a halt to her abuse, Scottish football still allows that abuse to continue.

I doubt there is a plan as such for a Third Rangers but don’t discount it could happen by circumstance. However whether it’s Third Rangers or Ashley Rangers they must be made to act honestly by the rest of Scottish football rejecting them until they provide signs that they will.

With more clubs in improved financial circumstances there is not a better time to force the issue. Tell RIFC or Third Rangers

“If you want to play in Scottish football, play by the same rules other clubs do or sod off”

  22. Morrissey the 23rd on

    Auldheid @ 00:40

RIFC are a new club. How have they got more sway than THE most powerful club in Scotland. I can be quiet and pretend I’m daft but not for much longer.

If we are dependent on Freemason cheating kaunts then I’m out. I wont just walk away. I’ll go kicking and screaming. PISSED OFF.

  23. You, You,You, yes you bhoyghurl…don’t you realise that, apart from winning this fight eternal, Glasgow Celtic Football Club, will have won the war eternal….the good guys won ;-))
