Police being laughed at by grateful media, Jinky medal comes onto the market

973

Strathclyde Police seem unprepared to decommission the loose cannon that is providing the regular leaks of largely inaccurate information about Celtic fans to the press.  The country’s largest police force have become a regular source of material and hilarity for our media, perhaps best illustrated by their unattributed comment to the Scotland on Sunday, suggesting they plan to “smash the Irish Republican, Marxist, Green Brigade”.

While the police officially claim “these comments do not reflect the view of the Force” the damage is already done.  The stage is set for an inevitable confrontation by a group of supporters who now believe they are being unfairly picked upon (for being Marxist, good grief, I thought they all shaved and suited-up under Tony, including the men!), and a police force, which employs someone who has told the press they are picking on the Green Brigade and which is asked by the Government to challenge pro-IRA chanting.

All political chanting must stop, of course, but I don’t fancy being an officer on the ground who has to pick up the pieces after a very loose tongue has set a scene for confrontation.

Make no mistake, the police are being laughed at by grateful recipients of their media comments, who cannot believe the utter naivety of the Pitt St operation, I have heard this laughter first hand from more than one journo, but the consequences of such dire behaviour will be severe.

I would like to thank everyone who bid on the ebay auction for the Jimmy Johnstone medal. I’m really pleased to let you know that the medal has been withdrawn from sale. Thanks again and sorry if you had already bid.

We are not short of history at Celtic, but there are very few occasions a unique memento of the Greatest Ever Celt becomes available.  The medal is a 47-year-old slice of Celtic folklore, check it out on ebay.

Foot ball supporters with failing eyesight would like to advise Mr Whyte it takes a lot less than that for Sone to hit the deck.

    Good morning one and all.

Just checked the BBC Weather for Glasgow there i did.

    Squally rain and strong winds.

Squally like? Wtf is that all about? Is squally a new word they have just invented? Never heard the likes of it in my life.

Anyway, the weather forecast for Saturday isn’t too bad, cold, but the winds shall ease off, meaning the Celtic game is safe to go ahead as schedueled.

Think we can take at least 6 or 7 goals off that despicable shower of intinerant bankrupts, without reply.

Bad memories of bad weather in Glasgow, that ICT game last December – my friends and i having consumed at least 14 pints of beer each, between the hours of 6am and 1:30pm,merrily staggered out of Molly Malone’s and as it didn’t seem too cold at the time, possibly due to the alcohol effect – decided it would be a good idea to dander from the top of Hope Street to Celtic Park, without coats, having left our coats back at our hotel, due to our excitement at hitting the pub.

Stupid decision, terrible idea and a nightmare result.

    Ah well,such is life.

  12. A bit windy…

According to Daily Record all Four of Scotland teams have been eliminated from Europe.

I can forward you the e-mail in its entirety thru’ a mutual mate if you want.

I agree with Auldheid/Celtic’s concept. I think a paid membership would be a benefit to our club. Having said that though I would hate to see it class structured and I would like to see those who might not to be able to afford any dues included too. How that could be achieved I’m not too sure, whether by referal or just by relying on good Tims honesty to win the day. I’ve been about over my years and I honestly believe that the figure of 9 million as Br\o/gan R\o/gan Trevin\o/ and H\o/gan quotes of others is in the realms of the Huns 7,000,000,000,000,000 bigot-dome and associated carpeted turf accountants. I am pleased and encouraged by his enthusiasm for the project and like the good man, I hope any scheme would not pay lip service to our clubs charitable ethos. However, I would put a figure of around fifty to one-hundred thousand overseas supporters who would be willing to subscribe to such a scheme and even then it would have to be promoted appropriately and no proceeds going to prop up dividends. Not to do so, would to my mind, doom any scheme to failure before its launch.

With men like Auldheid and Br\o/gan R\o/gan Trevin\o/ and H\o/gan endorsing such a project I think it will at least be given the opportunity to be a success; after that… it will be up to us the overseas supporters who can afford it, and who are of a mind to, to put our money where our love is, and hope that some closer to home can bolster the numbers too.

High winds and lashing rain in aul Scotia, take care folks.

I see the tactic in the Herald Comics is to tag on “pro-terrorist chanting” whenever “sectarianism” is mentioned.

In the article about Henry McLeish, nowhere is there quote from him about such chanting.

However, the article makes out that for McLeish the “terrorist chants” are as big problem as sectaranism.

    Insidious and constant.

How far the Herald has fallen.

Apparently, the height of today’s storm will hit the Glasgow area at around mid day today, so the school has decided to send the litle boys and girls home at 12.15.
