Postecoglou subs shut door on challenger hopes

161

Analysing Celtic performances has become more complicated recently.  The first half in Dingwall saw the visitors create enough chances to be four goals ahead; Kyogo, alone, scored, hit the crossbar and had the easiest chance of the game saved.  After the break, Malky Mackay tightened the middle of the park to such an extent that Celtic spent 20 minutes in a battle of attrition with Ross County until three substitutions sorted things out.  The outcome was never in any serious doubt, but it took a goal from Jota in the closing minutes to confirm the points were heading back to Glasgow.

As you well know, we are at the stage of the season when the value of a SWOT analysis is less important than immediate outcomes.  A week after their first domestic defeat since September, Celtic wanted to shut the door on whatever hopes their immediate challengers had on narrowing the gap at the top.

Ross County had not lost at home since Celtic travelled there last year, the game presented a credible threat to Ange Postecoglou’s plans, but the manager was able to drop a gear when required and motor ahead.  Any serious doubts on where the title is going this season were surely extinguished with Jota’s clincher.

The movement, ability to float in the air and finish Kyogo showed at his goal reminded a few of us of a player we used to watch.  Whatever his comparative merits, he is undoubtedly a talent to be cherished.

I’d be wary of using that incident as a stick to beat the huns with because iIn the unlikely event the real perp is ever brought to justice it would require a bit of back tracking.

Today, Parkhead lost one of it’s best. Fr Frank O’Rourke, who served in St Michael’s for many years, passed away. May he rest in peace.

Thought the team were in the right frame of mind from the first whistle yesterday.

The timing of the jump from kyogo was sublime as was the execution of the header , he could had a hat trick

His movement for the one he hit off the bar was impressive also .

I think Jota will be glad to get his goal too .

A win in the next game and the PARTY is on . I expect GVB to play the way they did at Hampden ,I wonder if the MIB will play the way Madjin did .

  6. No other Celtic player heading the ball in goal reminds me of Henrik, the way Kyogo does. Leaps, hangs limp, strikes perfectly. Roll on Sunday, Ave Ave all.

What has the arson attack on Peter Lawwell’s house got to do with Celtic not speaking out about a bottle being thrown at Ibrox?

Sometimes crimes take a long time to solve. Sometimes they are NEVER solved.

Are you seriously suggesting that the police know who the arsonist is, but are not interested, or that they are not even investigating the crime, all because PL is a Celtic director?

    You’re better than that mate.

Tom McLaughlin- every home in that area will have CCTV/ Ring video, i have no faith in the police in this country.

  11. I know we have no option but not relishing tony ralston up against Kent , he is as far as I’m concerned the danger to us . Old firm will play there normal game aided by the mib by awarding constant free kicks allowing high balls to be fired into our box . Midfield will again see the boot boys get a free hand to go after our plethora of nice wee bhoys , still it will give ange another chance to see what is sorely missing from our team , a Scott brown , a Davy hay ,a Bertie auld a battler , a enforcer , a defender of our players from boot boys . Lundstrum would not have lasted the game last week and we would still be going for the treble . HH

CCTV is only really useful for spontaneous incidents like street fights or road traffic accidents.

Unfortunately, when a Glasgow gangster sets out on an arson attack, he probably wears a face-covering, a balaclava and even a hood. He doesn’t tend to show his face and wave up at the cameras and smile before he leaves the scene of the crime.

Dammit he even wears gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints.

    ———————————————

A couple of years ago, police in a suburb of Washington DC were stymied by a series of arson attacks against generally upmarket private homes. Most of these had security cameras so the arsonist ( masked and hooded as you say ) was clearly visible walking around the properties at night spilling cans of petrol. At first glance, it seemed impossible to identify him.

However, the police were able to pinpoint his height and weight with a great deal of accuracy. They also relentlessly publicized the video footage, asking the public if any one recognized the arsonist’s somewhat unique gait. Eventually, someone did. Turned out it was the retired Chief of Police, who held long term malevolent grudges and decided to act on them!

What I find strange about the Peter Lawwell case is that I have only ever seen one grainy and very poor still photo of the arsonist in the public arena. Assuming there are a plethora of cameras in the Thorntonhall area, the police do not seem to be energetically pursuing this line of inquiry. That’s when my paranoia kicks in.

Can’t disagree with anything you say here – your points are valid and well-made.

I don’t know about cinch terminating, however whilst seeing validity in the Parks/Ibrox case, I would hope that when the time comes to ‘divi-up’ the money, those who have opted out of the deal receive no ‘cut’. Will Doncaster & the SPFL have the balls to stand up to Ibrox then?

  23. The way and manner Tony Ralston was skinned in Dingwall has not gone unnoticed by the Celtic management team. Der Hun will fall into the copyright trap.
