Protests because of Celtic

189

According to their manager, Newco are doing just fine, better then fine, in fact, it’s just that Celtic are fabulous (my interpretation, not a direct quote).

He spoke in response to fan protests at their game against Kilmarnock.  Apparently, after “55” (cough) they took their eye off the ball.

Mick Beale has a point. Celtic are fabulous, Newco win their first Scottish Cup and reached a European final; overachieving by any measure. But fans cannot be placated when losing.

It’s easy to see the folly in others. The Newco board are far from the worst option the club has. Change may not be their friend. There are zero options for stopping Celtic short of another random season. This is due future fans need to get on board or there will be a lot of banners. Protests because of Celtic could become a regular fixture.

    Au contraire.

I have never attended a Celtic v newco match, home, away or neutral. Still attend the other fixtures. There are a few of us in ML2 of like mind.

    Best regards.

aye I know some also, but maybe they are in the hundreds ready to have tickets snapped up by thousands of others.

    but i concur,

  3. In local news here Bet365 has written off £120m loan to Stoke city , how is that within FFP

Don’t know if I’m one of the ones you’re talking about. Like you I’m deliriously happy about our beloved Celtic. Loving title after title win and cup after cup. We are now pursuing policies that we didn’t in our recent history and we saw progress in Europe in terms of creating real scoring chances against top class opposition. We are all looking forward to next season to see if Ange’s Bhoys can progress further by converting more of them.

God is in his heaven; all’s good in the world as far as I’m concerned.

    Brilliant stadium ideas.

    67,525 capacity for me though.

    – permanent tribute to Lisbon lions

    – not too big to impact atmosphere at smaller games. (53,000 would be a third empty!)

    – puts us into top ten in European football

  6. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    To second point above …

.. If we expanded to 80,000

When I read guys plans to upgrade gets me excited….hopefully board will have plane ….we would have money with 5 CL entries in a row!….no asking much …..me I’d like South stand built up same height…so making possible a retractable roof ..can you imagine the atmosphere?!!!!….not worrying a jot about the weather!!….loads more hospitality at reasonable prices …..and standing at JS end…….

  8. I see Chris Wilder who was linked with Aberdeen (paper talk) has been appointed Walford Manager after Bilic was sacked.

Chris told Watford that he had booked a holiday after Easter – they said it wouldn’t be a problem because he’d be gone by then.

    Watford a real basket case

  9. The Walford manager – how does he follow on from their greatest manager – Dirty Den.

  10. The biggest (and oldest) Celtic supporter round here never goes to a game against them. Tbh, I seldom do either. I hate how they make me feel; yet. 2 games against them are among the best I have enjoyed. The 5-1 about 1966 and 3-1 league cup game about the same time.

My Dad never went to that game either and for years he went to every game home and away, including Lisbon and Milan.

  11. Tom McLaughlin, The Main Stand at Celtic Park .I agree needs a upgrade ,maybe it could be built in stages ,think they were quoted a £100 million for a complete new front stand ,well when you think about it look at the Bonus payments Lawell has ,and Fergus walking away with £45 million that stand could have built a few yrs ago .

I hear Morton’s Rolls might not go into administration. That’s good news, I didn’t fancy eating a The Morton’s Roll…

The only good thing about Stoke for me was that you came off the A50 and onto the M6 there and cruised to Glasgow if you got to Stoke before 4pm😎

    Them?

    Hah.

They’ll always be top of one pile.

    Dumbest fans on the planet.

Only now is it dawning on them that their (fake) major trophy haul is at risk.

If only they’d paid attention at school.

    Idiots

    Sample S1 Arithmetic exam question.

Club A has won 113 trophies.

Club “The B” believe they have won 118 trophies.

Based on current trends, Club A win 3 trophies for every trophy won by club “The B”.

How many years will pass before Club A overtake Club “The B”?

  16. My friends in Celtic,

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. My opinion is an extension of the standing area ( Especially to the faithful through and through fans in the lower Jock Stein ) would be a step backwards.

We have a safe family orientated crowd at Parkhead these days, with the highest attendances and waiting list we have ever experienced in our long unbroken history.

Why jeopardise that with a back to the future plan.?

A greater standing area would inevitably bring more conflict with UEFA, more anti social behaviour, more pyro, more fines , more controversy, a greater police presence and more potentially embarrassing moments for our club.

Do we really want or need that ?

Others may have a totally different view.

That joke is ancient, but thank you!

I heard the staff were well fired as well

Ps riverside bakery in my home town used to do the pies for Celtic in the 80’s

Mortons aggressively won that and a few other contracts off them and they went out of business. A good local employer, including my mam. Highlight for her was when Bonner and O’Leary of ‘safe hands cleaning’ came in to pitch. She fancied Packy after that!

  18. Evening all.

I see Klopp’s team beat Man’ure by a significant margin at the weekend, does asthma increase in early March?

    Celtic top of the league.

Highest goalscoring rate in many a long year.

an exciting brand of football that could be seen as playing the glasgow celtic way.

A sprinkling of top level footballers,

    retention of the league cup.

Enjoyed reading that St. Stivs. Great post. Would like to see more of that from you and a wee bit less of the sarcasm. People like to read other people’s ideas for developing something. Whether you agree or not MadMitch’s ideas were very interesting too. The idea by Canamalar to alter the direction of the pitch is also very intriguing. The blog has been a good read today. The stadium does need further development.

  24. i like the idea of a 90 degree shift to the stadium orientation, it would however meaning building hals a stadium down the celtic way, then relocating for a period while the other half gets built,

no much change from half a billion.

Looking at Sunday’s unique angle footage, it’s noticeable that while the players chase Jota in celebration of the equaliser, Kyogo is busy helping to untangle a Saints defender from the back of the net.

I’ve never understood that sentence construction.

It IS possible to find something interesting whether you are in favour or against, but it is also possible to disagree with something you find uninteresting, wrong or stupid.

I think St. Stiv’s gave out plenty of info as to why Madmitch’s thoughts on the stadium were, at best, impractical, and, at worst, uninformed.

I don’t think I could stay interested for too long on something impractical and uninformed.
