It’s all politics. Not actual politics, in the strict definition of the word, but clubs’ dealings with the SPFL and SFA is mostly about politically manoeuvring in the direction to win your argument.
Experienced political operators will tell you not to fight the same people on too many points; pick the important areas to win and take a few defeats on the chin. Box the SPFL into a corner by not charging season ticket holders for entry into play-off matches, and you’re onto a sure win. But all SPFL clubs are members of the SFA.
They all like being given their place. If I wanted something important from the SFA, like exemption from the rule prohibiting directors of a liquidated club from subsequently becoming a club director, I’d concentrate on that and ask politely for permission to let season ticket holders into games.
But I realise there are different types of political animal. The consensus political animal is effective in certain times, then there are those who have a self-righteous tone to rules. It’s their way or the highway. To paraphrase Bob Shankly, pure, athletic, Thatcherism. Britain wasn’t ready for Thatcherism 30 years ago. She won in 1979 and lost lots of votes second time around in ’83, but the Labour vote split. The 80s were lean. For some.
Scottish football is in for a period where a self-righteous entity will muster its forces. The media coverage will reflect what we saw in politics in the 80s. The consensus operators must stand firm and unite.

A quick point about Moty. What manager / head coach is under unrelenting pressure to win every game, and with style. I know it comes with the territory but he is alone much of the time while his team and every word he utters is under intense scrutiny on and off the park.
It takes a very special individual to persevere with his philosophy when you are only one or two bad results away from “disaster” and being branded a failure, even by some of your own supporters.
Have the three other contenders got this special quality?

I know we probably only need a 4-point swing. However, our goal difference is only 29 better than theirs and there are still 4 rounds of fixtures to go. So were we to win 1-0 tonight, draw our last game and lose 3-0 away to St Johnstone then if Aberdeen win 3 of their games 5-0 they would only have to beat us 7-0 next weekend. Are you seriously telling me there’s no chance of that happening? ;-)

Better strikers than John Guidetti have earned the adulation of the Celtic support over the years but, to have JG hauled before the ‘masonic-beaks’ coz he sang a song – over in Sweden – about…”the huns being died”….what’s it all about….?….everybody knows that the ‘huns’ will never be allowed to die in this country….or is that not the issue…?….is it, coz he called them ‘huns’….?….or, is it coz…he said the ‘huns’ died….?…JG will now be soiled-goods coz…he’ll be hung oot tae dry by the Celtic board and,….I suspect a wee ‘carve-up’ between….the Celtic board….and, their SFA-pals…to leave JG with a tarnished reputation and rendered not the type of player to be recruited to Celtic Park…letting the ‘bored’ aff wi paying the money for him…watch for a ‘project-striker’ to land in oot of a parachute to replace JG….imho

An alliance with the fans of other clubs to…flex their muscles over issues like…
…Daftie-o’clock kick-off times being arranged once…the clubs have banked fans S-B-money…what a rip-off…open yer eyes….ffs
…Club’s banking S-B-money…then…kidding-on that they couldny get players of requisite quality before the transfer-window shuts….make the point that…’every’ season there will be a recognised improvement in the quality of the product on the pitch….no S-B’s purchased till that is the case.
…TV-money for Scottish football is p#sh so, maybe the clubs could ‘pool’ the gate receipts…not clubs keeping their own fans money but…the clubs striking some sort of balance to….remove TV’s financial-gun-at-the-clubs-heids-set-up…I know that fans will not buy SB’s to give a slice of their money that they want to go to Celtic, being given to other clubs….but….some agreement has to be found…just to get 3-O’clock kick-offs back and get the era of football being ruled by TV to efff….for all the money that is given to Scottish football by TV…I’m sure the clever-heids of fans groups could throw a few ideas onto the table and….clubs boards would have to wait a few weeks till the fans come up with an agreeable solution before we see if….S-B’s are to be continued or, some other method of payment can be conjured up….coz….what cant be lost sight of here is…once you buy your SB….then you…instantly…become…not-important.
Celtic fans have the ‘Absolute-Power’…too many folk…live in hope that, Celtic fans wont wake-up to ‘that’ fact…indeed, the boards at – Celtic – SFA – the huns…etc are allowed to live the dream coz…Celtic fans are ‘sleep-walking’…their way through their Celtic-lives…knowing that…Celtic fans will never have their enemies to seek in this country but, do they realise that…there are a lot of friends out there if, Celtic FC were run by – CELTIC Men & Women – folk from the Celtic-walk-of-life….Celtic versions of Turnbull Hutton(RIP) are out there but, they’re not allowed onto the Celtic top-level of the club.
I’m a lapsed Celtic supporter and, I know that I dont have the answers to make the game better or, more importantly…make Celtic better….but, I would throw a name onto the table who, encompasses the traits to be a sort of – encyclopedic-mind-heart-soul-CELT – that person is….Jeanette Findlay.
If the keys of Celtic Football Club were to be placed into the hands of Jeanette Findlay then, I’d say that – “The Dream Is On…..”
So….S-B-Holders….this is ‘your’ time of the year.
What will it be…more of the same…hand over yer money in good faith to help/support Celtic FC…the calling of yer heart-strings….?
Or,…….
Will it be, time to pull on the handbrake….sit for 10 mins….think about the options…decide to use the head and….end the apathy-train to…………….where ever it’s going….and, take the future by the horns and realise that ‘YOU’ are the most important player on the pitch and, off it……?

Attack the messenger and disregard the message, an old ploy that’s way past it’s sell by date.
Phil, any news on Celtic having received a reply from Lodge Hampden to the letter sent to them last week?
Irrespective it’s time to go for the jugular.
The SFA have had more than enough time to reply to the Resolution 12 issue.
The next port of call should be the Serious Fraud Office. Celtic potentially have been defrauded of millions of pounds because of collusion and corruption. This is a criminal offence and those responsible should be identified and punished accordingly.
If that means jail time then so be it. An independent 3rd party investigation is the only way to drive a bus through the smoke and mirrors presented by those involved, otherwise we will still be talking about it 3 years from now whilst the principle participants have quietly slipped away with pensions and reputations in place.
