Rangers Football Club: 1872-2012

568

At a media conference a few minutes ago Rangers administrators Duff and Phelps today told the world they have accepted the only unconditional bid got the club, from American Bill (Proxy) Miller.  Mr Miller plans to start a new company to operate his ‘Rangers’ franchise.  Duff and Phelps had the affront to suggest that the old club, established in 1872 and incorporated in 1899, would somehow manage to convince HMRC to accept a CVA, despite there being zero money available to them.

This will not and cannot happen.  The last chance to save Rangers Football Club has gone.

Unfortunately for the UK taxpayer, they are about to take a bath for around £75m worth of medicines, school books, Help for Heroes and care services as Rangers spent all their tax money chasing football trophies.

Celtic Quick News told you this day was coming in our article on 3 October 2008. We didn’t know about the EBT case, ‘the bank running Rangers’, Craig Whyte or Bill Miller, but the available financial information made it clear that the club had debt obligations it would be unable to meet or renew.

Anyone from the boardroom of that club who claims surprise at these events is a complete fool. We should thank their media cheerleaders for refusing to analyse this issue while there was still time to do something about it.

More later, I have three months’ work to catch up on.

  2. Why should Celtic, the club who has lost most due to Rangers cheating, be further disadvantaged by its supporters removing financial support to the club especially when Celtic have done nothing wrong.

i understand concerns about the club being complicit in allowing “newco” direct entry into SPL but so far that hasn’t happened and if it does happen, in accordance with current SPL rules, what can our club do to stop it.

How can our club stop the SPL from following its own rules, even if these rules help a newco Rangers get back into SPL.

If its going to happen, it’s going to happen and our club will have no say (bar the seat on the board, but that is just one voice) in the matter.

We have lost out due to them cheating, and now it seems we are going to lose out again as our fans want a statement to say how cross the club is that the SPL have followed their own rules.

I don’t get it. I’m as cross as the next person at the thought of Rangers getting back in but I don’t want Celtic to suffer again due to this.

If it does transpire that Celtic have been complicit, then I agree with boycotts etc, but until then, please don’t harm our great club.

  3. I think ( not always a good idea! ) that Windy will come in,if all this is true, and strip strip strip…..in a financial sense. There is always coinage to be had if you’re a vulture capitalist and that is exactly what Windy is. Sheffiel Wednesday put the hex on him, told him to never darken their door.

Rankers, via the Duffers & Whytie boy, have invited the devil in by the back door.

In the process the Duffers have coined it in for nada…..and I wonder if they even paid ole Whytie a finder’s fee,a wee gracias for the luvvly jubbly?

Who knows. How much wool has been pulled over how many eyes?

( And,oh aye, didn’t wee have scumbag sally demonstrating his ‘leader aff’ capabilities in the ultra-violent intimidation stakes. Another facet of this murky bidness altogether.)

“What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.”

  4. Just nipped in during an available five minutes, what’s all the stress about?

Honestly, you’d think we would all learn not to take the uttering of Duff and Phelps, not to mention, Bill Miller, as gospel.

Bill Miller is the best of all available options, as far as we are concerned. He was the man who spooked Brian Kennedy and the Blue Knight. He is either in concert with Craig Whyte – and will do a deal Craig is happy with, or not – and will not complete a deal.

The SPL and SFA have made no decisions. Neil Doncaster is not in control of any decision, he is busy trying to influence as we speak.

Today the final opportunity to keep Rangers Football Club, established in 1872, alive, ended. The future, any future, remains in doubt.

This is where we hoped things would be if everything continued to plan (our plan).

    Off again, work then football.

  5. If as Spiers surmises, this “plan” could work, as one of those “hard core” (just about every Celtic Supporter, I’m sure), could we organise as soon as possible the simultaneous cancellation of SKY and/or ESPN? Could I also suggest that we, as supporters, inform each and every other club that we are doing so and invite them to do likewise. Could we also ask Celtic not to sign up for the pittance that is the TV deal? See where that gets Doncaster? None of this seems pie in the sky (wee pun there?) to me. I won’t blame our Board for not speaking out, as they have to wait to see how things pan out but I am hoping that they are exerting any influence they have to ensure that this morally bankrupt Scottish institution do not get away with their gargantuan cheating and tax evasion.

  7. We all laughed at Miller’s incubator nonsense when it was first revealed. But it turns out it is just a Newco with spin around it.

The “standard” model we’ve all talked about is the Newco taking the assets from a liquidated Oldco. Miller’s twist is to do the sale while the Oldco is still trading and then have it try to get a CVA.

It’s just phoenixing done backwards.Take out the nonsense about toxicity and cleaning up and that’s what you are left with. An Oldco with debts and a little money. A Newco with the assets.

All of my objections to a Newco being given any special status still stand. This would be a new football club and must follow the same path as any other new club. It can’t be allowed straight into the SPL just because it bought some stuff that used to belong to an SPL club.

Agree with all of the above, but would also add the following.

    1. No TV cameras will be allowd inside Celtic Park

    2. No Radio Stations will be allowed inside Celtic Park

    3. No Press will be allowed inside Celtic Park

    4. No Celtic employee will do any interviews with the Media

    5. All League Sponsors and their logos will be banned from Celtic Park

    6. Celtic will take no tickets for away matches and will not offer any tickets to Celtic Park to other clubs

Bidding closes on Monday 7th May.

Historic Celtic top signed by the 3-0 slayers of Rangers (In Administration, Liquidation, Extinction – whatever).

Fellow Celts, I need your help.

My parents recently had to go into full time care in Wellburn Care Home, Lochee, Dundee. Wellburn is run by the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Wellburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area. It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

The sisters need cash to maintain the home for the benefit of the residents.

Trust me, you cannot visit there and not be inspired by the work the sisters do.

Our heroic, favourite players have signed the top which is in mint condition and in a fantastic presentation box.

Forever more this top will be known as the 3-0 (going on 7) massacre top.

You can support the work of The Little Sisters Of The Poor by bidding for this Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hiding assets away under another company?

Surely this can’t happen under the watch of an administrator who’s meant to be looking after the creditors. How does that work?

“Ah well Mr Miller came in here when we wurney looking, stuck Aybrokes and Murry Park up his jumper, before taking them to another PLC”

Surely if there is value in these assets, they are duty bound to make sure some wide boy doesn’t snaffle it away on the cheep.

It sounds like a fraudulent way of handling this. I mean when taxes are due (and more are likely to be due) and they say, look nae money and no assets to see here. Then when the dust dies down, they manage to buy these assets back for £1, it doesn’t seem right. Is this lawful, or does the taxman have the power to act on this type of shenanigans?

  12. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

This situation reminds me the popular cop series The Shield.

The cops rob the Armenian Mafia for millions and it ultimately brings them down as officers, splitting them from each other and their families and ultimately killing them.

It’s like committing murder out of desperation to make a problem go away but ultimately causes you more problems.

The huns will never be free from this because philosophically, when death doesn’t take its natural road problems appear.

The Zombies of Glasgow are about to be born, the living dead, yon death worm that infects necrophiliacs, think yon worm may even be blue, its this worm that’s going to kill the Scottish game spread by the necrophiliacs of the fourth estate, humping away at the living dead corpse of the hun.

Nature can never be subverted or beaten, she’s ruthless.

    So well done hunnery,well done.

  13. tomthelennytim on

Mort, I think people are just watching with crossed fingers at the moment. I am anyway.

Been off the booze for a fortnight to lose a couple of pounds and give the old liver a break. I can feel myself getting weaker with all these shenanigans and I want to know what P.L is gonna do about my lack of will-power ;-)

  14. Just suppose all that is feared comes to pass…

Suppose further Celtic call a press conference and announce their resignation from the league, think there’s a 2 year notice, but anyway…further advise they will adopt a non-cooperation stance with SFL/SFA, all media banned, no away SPL ticket sales, no Hampden ticket sales, no away Cup sales, no away supporters in Celtic Park etc. etc. etc.

How would that sell to us, the supporters? Do you kike the sound of that?

Suppose further that Celtic actually intend (without disclosure) to wind up the Club & the company by selling all assets with a view to later distribution to shareholder/stockholders BUT with the intention of buying a struggling EFL club, perhaps one in admin or near bankruptcy.

Suppose again that this ruse is successful and Melchester Rovers becomes Melchester Celtic, playing in green & white, with the owners & shareholders of oldco Glasgow Celtic now the owners/shareholders of newco Melchester Celtic what do we feel?

If you can travel to Glasgow can you travel to Melchester; if you sing ‘Glasgow’s Green & White’ can you sing ‘Melchester’s Green & White; if you’re sat next to your pals in Glasgow can you sit next to your pals in Melchester?

Can’t swallow the cheating immoral fetid SPL? Can you swallow the immoral usurping of admittedly near defunct Melchester Rovers? Could you still see ‘CELTIC’ playing on that field or would it be a foreign field forever foreign?

  15. Let’s have Celtic make a “Conditional” statement.

IF Newco gets admission to SPL then

Celtic will withdraw from Sky ESPN TV deal

Celtic will make home games available to both UK and overseas fans via Celtic TV

Celtic will compensate away teams propotionally.

And we will reserve the right to take escalating actions.

    Let the legal battles commence

  16. fergus slayed the blues on

We all laughed when windy miller spouted his rant demanding back into the SPL with no other sanctions (hell even the MSM dismissed him as a cowboy )Why then did he not get chased out of dodge ,why is he now the PB .

IMO it’s because he has been told he will get what he wants from the CHEATS CHARTER brigade I hold on to the fact that they will lose their history (no matter what the LL tell the gullible ).

Titles stripped ,left to the SFA/SPL ,won’t happen then

    Player registrations ,see above

HMRC who will be afraid to shaft you now that you have been so publicly fleeced by this bunch of barra boys .

We as a support are on our own here and the only way we can fight back is to starve this corrupt set up of every thin dime .

I don’t know about the rest of you but the thought of a single penny of my money going to that disgusting corrupt club after this is just too much to stomach .

After this I do not even want my club to ever play this ZOMBIE ever again ,let alone contribute to it’s being .

For more years than I care to remember ,I have had to put up with the paranoid tag from halfwit peepil in this country .Well IMO this travesty has shown me to be right all along .

If they won’t apply the rules to all members then we should do all we can to ensure we bring the whole corrupt sham down around their ears .

  17. NL gets battered again.

And what does Fat Sally get? Endless praise from a cowed and fearfully compliant media.

    Pass me that sickbag.

  18. Isn’t there anything in UEFA regulations about fair play and upholding the integrity of the game? So we are now faced with a situation in a European league where regardless of results, or proven cheating 2 clubs can never be relegated from the top league. A cheats charter that is what a Newco in the SPL amounts to nothing more. It is no longer a football competition it is a survival mechanism for the SPL 10. Avarice triumphs over logic and moral consciences.

If the Celtic board have played any part, however small, in this masquerade I fear for the very survival of our club.

  19. Quite straightforward really, not confusing at all.

    It’s Liquidation with a capital L.

The only difference in the case of Rangers, is that you are not allowed to call it that.

Newco – and in the SPL debt free unlike every other club they’ll play against.

Alex Salmond told us months ago.

  20. This scheme is very interesting, but there is another legal loophole for Miller to overcome.

This looks like a scheme to defraud creditors.

Well I’m kind of impressed if I can be more cynical than you. I admit to being extremely grumpy about all those so this may be coming out in my posts.

(Tries to put rational head on, shakes it violently and takes deep breath).

You would accept surely that the football authorities’ rules are wide open for RIA to pretty much do as they please to wiggle out with minimal sanction – especially in Scotland? And we know they will get every encouragement from football, most other clubs, the Scottish govt, the TV lobby, sponsors etc to be reinstated.

Celtic are in a very difficult position. Doing a Belfast Celtic may satisfy some people idea of honour, a fact Linfield no doubt look back and shake their head ruefully at as they count up their cups and medals (sarcastic smiley here). We do or say anything to challenge the switcheroo (and we should) then we will become the story and it will be us trying to kill Scottish football, bully the wee teams and ruin the economy.

Our hopes rest with the unknowns.

 We don’t know if , as Paul67 hinted yesterday Miller is Whyte’s p(r)oxy bitch, or a wholly independent Yankee Whyte – in which case it may play as a rerun of The Grifters which will be sweet.

 We don’t know the extent to which there will be evidence to pass to UEFA when the SPL ignore the cheating.

 We don’t know UEFAs reaction to any suggestion of ineligible players in their competitions.

 We don’t know how Ticektus will be satisfied (this could be marginalized to a private claim by them on Whyte).

 And it looks increasingly like the deals will be done before the FTT hits, rendering it a historical curio – “wow look what those previous bad boys gone done”.

It is very easy to punish wee clubs. RIA’s saving grace may be that the extent of cheating is so huge that it is too embarrassing and disruptive for planet fitba to deal with so lets just move along and say no more about it.

I’m giving emotional responses today I admit. Tonight as I avoid the rest of the internet to be able to watch the rerun of the game on BBC ALBA at 10pm Ill read RTC (where football chat is banned) and try and form some less emotive opinions.

(I’m still chuckling that I am more cynical than tha’).

Chill miki – Neill knew what he was doing when he spoke to the press yesterday. He knew the punishment & he decided to do the time.

    He knew 2 weeks ago!

  25. It astonishes me how quickly the authorities can organise a ban for Neil Lennon and yet cannot find time to summon or penalise McCoist for inciting threats of violence against a panel member.

  26. Ballpark figure….how much would it cost to buy a new squad for the SPL?

That is what they will have to do.

    BUY A NEW SQUAD.

You think any of those footballers will not take a contract being torn up allowing them to trouser a massive signing on fee and increase in their wages?

Ok..I understand and respect your feelings, but I think RFCIA are finished as any kind of ‘club’,no matter the outcome. THEY are tainted forever, and in the end, they’re not our concern except when we are forced by circumstance to come up against them. Who cares if they are a zombie outfit? We’ve all known for decades how weighted the entire rotten system has been to their benefit and our detriment. This is the high water mark of all that and we’ll see what’s left when the tide goes out. Sludge, probably.

And being a Tim,a Celt,is a way of thinking,a culture,a community, even a way of life. Celtic F.C. is a part of that, and it would be nigh on impossible not to finance it,one way or another.
