Rangers Football Club: 1872-2012

568

At a media conference a few minutes ago Rangers administrators Duff and Phelps today told the world they have accepted the only unconditional bid got the club, from American Bill (Proxy) Miller.  Mr Miller plans to start a new company to operate his ‘Rangers’ franchise.  Duff and Phelps had the affront to suggest that the old club, established in 1872 and incorporated in 1899, would somehow manage to convince HMRC to accept a CVA, despite there being zero money available to them.

This will not and cannot happen.  The last chance to save Rangers Football Club has gone.

Unfortunately for the UK taxpayer, they are about to take a bath for around £75m worth of medicines, school books, Help for Heroes and care services as Rangers spent all their tax money chasing football trophies.

Celtic Quick News told you this day was coming in our article on 3 October 2008. We didn’t know about the EBT case, ‘the bank running Rangers’, Craig Whyte or Bill Miller, but the available financial information made it clear that the club had debt obligations it would be unable to meet or renew.

Anyone from the boardroom of that club who claims surprise at these events is a complete fool. We should thank their media cheerleaders for refusing to analyse this issue while there was still time to do something about it.

More later, I have three months’ work to catch up on.

  1. If the Rangers newco goes ahead and is allowed into the SPL, its the death of Scottish football as we know it. Huge repercussions.

The problem is that if Celtic are complicite, We are tainted as well as every other club in Scotland that stands by and allows it!

  3. Went over to pick up my Dundee Utd ticket for Sunday this morning, enquired about the renewal of my season ticket and told 3% increase for next season

Sons renewal came through the door this morning and price is £466 for vicinity of north east corner lower

Shock horror both tickets don’t mention anything of the Huns not being part of the price

Both of us will be renewing our season tickets wether the huns are in the league or not. When it boils down to it I pay for the pleasure of watching Celtic play

So I will be bhoycotting any boycott next season

Dead easy to boycott games when your only there once in a blue moon

    Hail Hail

I thoroughly enjoyed your autopsy! Well expressed critique!

I do believe it is time for Celtic to be heard. I have been a little perturbed by some of the comments from management and players against the end of the raggers. Have they not heard the voices of, not only Celtic, but of a great many other supporters. We need clarity, information and a stance from the Celtic board. Their duty to the fans is to object loud, clear and unequivocally. The flames are too close to the door to merely stand and stare. Action, please! Drown them and put the fire out!

This still has a long way to go bhoys,I think Duff & Duffer have found their mug punter, they will be off like a dirty shirt very soon.

  6. The whole player contracts issue is another major plus in the Division 3 column.

Buying a squad for division 3 is CONSIDERABLY cheaper than buying one to be competitive within the SPL.

Can anyone enlighten me about the effect the BTC can still have to what’s being proposed by Billy Miller?

RFCIA are already crippled with the level of debt they have at the moment (and that doesn’t include the BTC).

Assuming NewCo are up and running next season (whether it be in SPL or Div3), could Hector still hit them with the BTC and finally sink them once and for all?

I hope NL comes out to pick up the trophy with The Bhoys on the 13th. I assume this will happen.

  9. Been in meetings all day (no I’m not Bill Miller!) so out of loop with latest developments.

Am I right in thinking this ‘incubator’ nonsense is just a fairly clever way of appearing not to kill the ‘Old’ Club while simultaneously killing it, knowing as Miller does, that there is hee haw chance of a CVA or any kind of win against HMRC?

Am I right in thinking also that Miller is the ‘Proxy’?

The only thing that concerns me over this (because for Miller I am reading Craig Whyte) is the claim of assurances about the SPL. That, if true, compromises totally the integrity of the whole episode (again).

However in light of revelations from our host yesterday I am concluding that these ‘assurances’ are just more news management and have not been given. You can’t go telling bears the whole truth all at once, they are not used to it and will implode or explode in some manifestation of rage. Not pretty. Drip feeding is the only way.

Anyway, whatever the spin it’s goodnight rangers.

It wouldn’t cost very much to assemble a squad for the SPL. There will be a load of SFL and lower paid SPL players coming out of contract at the end of the season that “I can’t believe its not Rangers” can snap up on a Bosman.

Wages will be minimal so they should be able to cover these and any PAYE/NI implications.

Having a look around, they could easily sign the following:

    Tom Bradley (Motherwell) GK

    Austin McCann (Dunfermline) DF

    James McPake (Hibs) DF

    Garry Kenneth (Dundee United) DF

    Darren Mackie (Aberdeen) FW

and some others to supplement this squad.

  12. If Doncaster and the SPL board allow a Newhuns FC into the SPL in spite of the cheating and tax avoidance what could they possibly do to Celtic is we refuse to particpate in the TV deal and the support refuse to go to away fixtures. Naughty Celtic braking SPL rules :-) My guess would be the SPL could do absolutley nothing about it. You wanted Rangers back well there ya go – enjoy. “As ye sow shall ye reap”

I sure hope we don’t stand by. I cannot imagine complicity being in our board’s collective mind. And I also think there’ll be a flurry of court cases coming Rankers way.

  20. If you haven’t watched Alex T’s interview with D&P watch it.

You would never see any of our MSM asking the questions he did.

“Is this not just a massive tax dodge?”

“How is this any different from a firm of dodgy plumbers changing their name and starting again?”

“So Bill Miller’s bid is an unconditional with with conditions attached?”

    Priceless stuff.

D&P are up to their necks in this.

    Here’s a scenario:

I own a factory that makes Things. In order to make these Things I need Bits and Pieces which I procure from others.

Due too cash flow problems I can’t afford to pay for the Bits and Pieces or my VAT or PAYE etc.

Can I start a new company and transfer the Factory, Bits and Pieces for, say, a nominal $1 allowing the Newco to make and sell Things while the debt stays with Oldco which I now liquidate?

No? Didn’t think so. Huns seem to think the above scenario is quite acceptable.

    =================================

And as history shows, you can spend what you like in the SPL but it does not guarantee you success.

with euro money off the table for them for three years it does not make financial sense for them to want to be in the top flight.

they may well have reached the right conclusion (Div 3 for Newco) for all the wrong reasons (money and not any sense of humility, penitence or justice)

    we’ll see.

watch and wait. if it’s div 3 then good. it might not be as straight forward as Promotion, Promotion, Promotion. they will be an attractive scalp for the wee teams. it will be hard for them to gauge and attract the level of player they need to guarantee success but not burst the bank.

I think I would enjoy watching Newco fail to get promotion. But then as they will not be rangers I might not have an intense dislike for them or indeed any kind of interest in them whatsoever. it’ll be new territory – and we shouldn’t let the Oldco supporters ever forget that.

  27. Guys, I have a non-football related question I wonder if you can help me with?

I currently owe the tax man £140 from last year due to an underpayment(their error), I have around £5000 in credit card debts, plus a mortgage of £42000.

Anyway, I’m a bit skint so I thought I would change my name by deedpoll, transfer my house into that name, arrange to pay everybody back a few pennies in the pound, then when my debt is clear, transfer my house back into my old name, hence retaining my house and its history.

Do you think that will be allowed legally?????

Oh, and my ex husband still has a 50 per cent share of the house, which he says he wont give up, but i’m just going to ignore that and have decided he’s not getting anything back. x
