  1. RC

We went to a three to give full backs an opportunity to get up the park. The only option from the bench was El Hamed.

Elyo was put on, i presume to provide energy, he is much more athletic .

    U McGhee – i know !

also, Mad Mitch takes every opportunity to frame his posts ;-)

  3. Big Jimmy,

    Kristoffer was Magnificent.

Despite the unluckiness he endured, Callum epitomised my Celtic.

Madhun was really at it Today.

    Up ye!

    I beg your pardon?

I certainly don’t know you. Happily so.

I can though, read the puerile tripe you have been writing today.

Not a Celtic person in any shape or form.

    Makes me sick.

Please do not respond to this. Just shut up.

  5. Think about this

3 straight defeats to a club 8 years old

That’s how far this management team has taken us

  6. James Forrest,

the picture posted by notthebus clearly shows Morelos would have been through on goal,

Ajer too far over and Laxalt miles behind

  7. Madhun was not the cause of us getting beaten today.

We need to look closer to home.

Even in the poorer years, we were always renowned for top class strikers.

The goal difference explains our failings.

There is scope for optimism moving forward.

    HH to all.

  8. With 10 men surely you go 4 4 1 with speed up front , unfortunately Eduard wont do the dirty stuff or lay the ball off now, dont know why but he wont.

  9. glendalystonsils on

Bitton’s red was harsh but he lost concentration to let Morelas get the run on him in the first place . A non-defender’s defending .

  10. As far as I can see, we have a two options at this time

    1) change the mgt team now. Build for next season. We know a lot of players are leaving. Loans, contracts and retirees. Quick start out of the blocks, including european qualifications

    2) change things in the summer. Bigger rebuild, less time to implement. Comment that new guys didn’t have a lot of time before we lost in Europe to (insert mildly recognisable scandinavian team)

To confirm, I do not believe persevering with the current mgt team is a viable or desirable option

    Alternative views welcome

  11. The league is over and it is January 2nd.

    19 points behind.

    22 goal difference deficit.

2 goals in our last 4 games against the mighty sevco.

3 straight defeats against the mighty sevco.

    Is this Lawwell’s crowning glory?

    Even greater than willow flood?

Getting knocked out of the champions league qualifying stages twice in the same season? A champions league record that will likely stand for all time.

    Mulumbu rather than John McGinn?

Chasing Martin O’Neil and Brendan Rodgers?

    Replacing quality with mediocrity.

£40m in the bank at the end of December 2019?

    Resolution 12?

    Rangers’ dos and ebt schemes?

What will your bonus be this year Peter?

Take a bow Peter. Sevco could not have achieved their success without your collaboration.

You will surely go down in sevco history as one of their greatest heroes.

Got a nice little earner lined up with the SFA?

    EUFA perhaps?

    What’s your game?

    sick as a parrot csc.

  12. Anyone sitting comfortably at HT maybe hasn’t seen much of Celtic this season.

Neil Lennon has found ways all season to throw away points and concede stupid goals.

If we were better coached, had a better manager – players are more confident and don’t continually take turns to cost us games we should win.

As Soro has come on recently, I couldn’t help but think back to Pittodrie with minutes left and winning 2-3, Lennon left Soro on the bench and brought on Turnbull to see out the game. That’s the level of manager we have.

Shambolic at every level – board room, manager, coaching staff and players.

We’ve a massive rebuild on our hands which I suspect will be delayed, frustrated and harmed by the board keeping Lennon in post so we can do maximum damage to next season before it even starts.

  13. The early Morelos stamp was right in front of Lenny, I didn’t see any reaction from him.

He should have been waving & screaming at Madden.

Thought the red was harsh but I would have been screaming for it, it it was on the other foot.

He was cutting in and would have had a good scoring chance, Think Red/Yellow was 50/50.

  14. think a few are still on the festive sherbets , the league is gone , the agenda has won , we have blown the biggest prize in the SPL history that them’s would never have recovered from .

From being totally dominant we are a complete and utter shambles defensively that should never been allowed to happen

  15. 2 goals in our last 4 games against the mighty sevco

    —

And those two goals consisted of an off side and a handball.

  16. no team ever wins the league with a defence that we have – the board have been complacent and lacked proper planning pre season to ensure we have natural defenders.

This and some bad luck with covid and injures has been our downfall this season !

    hail hail

  17. Mad Mitch

When Gordon Strachan lost his only league at the 4th attempt I got the same personal post from Sydney Tim as being a happy clapper who was responsible for our loss ( don’t remember getting the credit for the leagues we won mind).

What ST and yourself need to appreciate is that personal criticism only hurts if it comes from informed and valid sources

    Your comment just tickled me

  18. ulysses mcghee - a demographic of one on

I think today (As a result) is a sackable offence. I think the league’s done and we can comfortably bring a new manager in to gauge what we have and manage the much vaunted exodus.

After Bitton’s suicidal decision the random sub generator went into overdrive. And without any shape or cohesion we managed to almost create a chance in the 94th minute. That was good luck not good management. They aren’t a good team. Problem is they’re better than us and by the 65/70th minute obviously fitter than us – that’s a shocking state of affairs.

I await both this site’s and the Celtic press release to issue a wholesome, good natures Sate of the Nation address – this is fine… everything is fine…

  19. Uncle Jimmy,

I don’t think the board have AN Other in the wings and Lennon will want paid off, costing us more on just starting to build the infrastructure.

Is AN Other the one for the rebuild when his boss doesn’t appear to be around in the summer (Lawell steps away).

I think they had a complacent view of winning this year and handing over the reins to John Kennedy as a successor.

Away from the pitch we are a massive shambles sadly.

Hard to blame the GK today as he literally hadn’t a save to make apart from the goal.

However he hardly inspires confidence anytime a ball comes into his vicinity and he appeared to. Is only shrink at the goal.

I think the concern is that he rarely looks like making a save; he’s been here six months and folk still recall a save at DU in August as being notable/noteworthy.

Bitton – he can coast through a game but you just KNOW he’s got in him what he did today.

    Completely unreliable.

  21. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Peter Lawwell, the man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

  22. For me (as an ex ref) it was a red card. There are 4 Ds which determine whether it is an obvious goalscoring opportunity …

    1. Number of Defenders – there was none likely to be in the vicinity for an interception (apart from Nir)

    2. Distance to the Goal – by the time he was brought down he was close enough for this to be relevant

    3. Distance to the Ball – he had the ball at his feet

    4. Direction of Play – he had gone past the defender and was making a straight line for the goal.

Unfortunately the decision was correct although No 2 was probably the weakest call and if there had been a defender around the penalty spot it would likely have been a yellow card based on No 1.

Why Bitton didn’t;y just run after the player he could have stumbled, hit the ball wide or ended up 1-1 with Barkas. Or if he had taken him down immediately he may well have been judged too far from goal (no 3).

Unfortunately he gave the referent a call to make – one of which we would have screamed for if it had happened at the other end !

  23. I agreed 95% in team apart from Laxalt as he is never in position of left back when needed

To bring on that imposter Elyounoussi is a sackable offence

How can Neil get on that plane tomorrow

  24. Go tell the Spartim on

If Madden gave Morelos benefit with his stamp then why not Bitton, we know the answer……

People react differently after a defeat, some just get defiant others get reflective either way each individual owns it when it gets personal then that says more about a posters character than I ever could.

The rebuild should start now but it won’t as our current manager is happy with his lot, which is the reason we are where we are

  25. thought it was our best performance in a “the rangers” game for a long time. a bit unlucky with the og and the attempts in the first half. it’s clear we have better players BUT once again a nothing ball punted forward down the wing is our downfall. bitton wasn’t great but how are we so easily undone. we have seen this for 2 years now. love lenny but we need better coaching

  26. Ulysses

‘The random sub generator ‘ – excellent phrase! My first smile of the day.

I’ve asked a few times what makes you think the league is not over.

Even if you reply that you’d rather not respond with specifics, I’d be happy. You may have missed my 3 requests

  27. I don’t know if the club monitor the number of logins for the pass to paradise- if we do then I strongly suspect that starting next Monday they’ll notice a massive decrease in fans watching our games.

That should worry them. That should prompt them into action. It will not though. As bad as we’ve been on the pitch this season, we’ve been worse off it.

  28. Geebee

Yes, then the manager does a u turn saying we don’t need players when they think the heat is off.

Paul 67 used by our CEO again to lie to the fans ,spin them a yarn, release a squirrel.

Just shows the contempt they have for us.

I wasn’t buying the we’ll give a failing manager loads of money and make wholesale changes.

A Tory tactic just tell them lies.

  29. The Battered Bunnet on

I understand the disappointment, but the league was gone in October when the club elected to stick with Lenny. Today’s match served only to show how tenuous any remaining challenge was – it turned on two decisions; Morelos permitted, Bitton dismissed. Thereafter a freak deflection in off the far post and the grace was couped.

Looked at in isolation, that was a generally good football performance, Lenny finally figuring out how to address the opposition’s 4-3-2-1 shape that has all but ended his career. The record shows he has lost three times in succession to this team, scoring just once in the process.

I read in amazement criticism of Barkas today, who was not troubled by a single shot on target the whole match.

Criticism of the club’s leadership is warranted. Not for being parsimonious though. Celtic have spend a record amount on transfer fees and wages lately, with a clear attempt to ‘buy’ the title this year/ They’ve simply made poor recruitment decisions for the key management positions who in turn have spunked the money on so many players who in any objective would not be recruited by a club with European ambitions.

Peter Lawwell, having gone all in on a weak hand, will leave the club, the only question being whether it’s before Lenny or after. I expect he’ll hang around to see out the financial year while the club figures out what the future looks like. He will leave the club with a grand pension and a legacy of major problems, sporting and financial.

And in the midst of the deepening human disaster called Covid-19, it simply doesn’t matter.

    Please, stay safe.

  30. Dbhoy

I must’ve indeed. Could you just signpost it for me.

    What time did you post?

    Thanks again

  31. Nir Bitton had a great game until….BUT he’ll be remembered for the red card for grabbing Morelos.

Unlike the halfwit of the BBC who claims he hauled Morelos to the ground, Morelos felt the arms round him and collapsed like he’d done for the whole of the game anytime a Celtic player came near him.

The red card was not a stonewaller in my opinion. Ajer was slightly ahead of them but central & perfectly placed to intercept Morelos if he got away – so not a clear goal scoring opportunity for me.

Morelos should have been red carded early in the 1st half for his deliberate stamp on Frimpong & then again when he kicked Ajer at the melee after Duffy’s tackle – which Madden & his team also managed to miss. Madden even chose to manhandle Morelos away but still decided a yellow was sufficient.

We never really looked in danger until the sending off, but for me that was compounded by the substitutions. Unless Soro was injured he should have stayed on. As soon as he went off we were, effectively 2 men down as Brown was poor with slack passing, sclaffs & poor marking. Losing Soro, Turnbull & Christie took away so much control from our midfield & by 82 minutes our whole starting midfield was gone. It might have meant fresh legs but we had no cohesion & never looked remotely like threatening via the midfield after that. Ajer’s marauding runs & set pieces were all we had to offer.

I also couldn’t understand taking off 3 players who are all very capable of scoring from outside the box (Chrristie Turnbull & Soro) & then throwing Rogic on with 6 minutes to go. Taking off our best dead ball deliverer was exposed when we badly squandered 3 free kicks & 2 corners into their goal in the last 10 minutes.

Our defence looked better when Duffy was moved to auxiliary striker.

My top 3 were Soro, Turnbull & Ajer with Kris being MOTM.

    League wasn’t lost today…

    HH

  32. An Dun,

They have your money already. They won’t worry. In their slow manner they’ll stick by Lenny until the Huns are literally bouncing around Govan with the league championship decked in red, white and blue and then think of a short term strategy that brings us all back in line again by hiring a ‘name’ that will fill the mnarketing campaign for season books in the summer.

Although, here we go One In a Row hasn’t much of a pizzazz about it :(
