Rhetorical magic from old Lumley-troubler

1149

Old Lumley-troubled used a classic rhetorical technique yesterday. Give your target audience lots of points to consider which you know they will agree with; build empathy, get heads nodding, fists banging on tables, then slip in the line you are trying to sell. As a piece of prose, you have to respect the statement. This guy, or his writer, has not only read the Greeks, he’s understood their importance.

If Sir David is right, Rangers issued no side contracts, all non-discretionary payments to players in connection to football were registered, if the redacted contract which appeared in The Sun in March was a piece of fiction, if the prima facie evidence presented by Duff and Phelps was an error, he and his soon to be liquidated former club have nothing to worry about.

  1. So, some more signings for the NewHuns, eh?

Much as I’m tempted to gloat that this will see them in administration by Christmas, it seems clear to me that the game is afoot. There is simply no way players like Black and Sandaza would sacrifice 3-4 years of their career to the lower leagues in Scotland.

Promises have clearly been made to them about this situation being temporary.

We already know that the SFA and SPL want them back at the top (astonishingly, the heads of both organisations have admitted as much).

We already know that the SFL and the media are refusing to acknowledge the break in history and the reality of the club being a new legal entity.

We already know that some SPL chairmen only agreed to banish them in the belief the SFL chairmen would meekly collude in a stitch-up.

Look at the rules that have already been bent for them: NO sanctions for taking the SFA to court. NO immediate implementation of a transfer ban. NO insistence that football debts are paid before they sign anyone. NO recognition that they fail the test to gain entry to any league. NO action taken against McCoist, Jardine, or Green for incredibly inflammatory comments on other clubs – comments which put people’s safety at risk. NO swift resolution to the issue of shady tax schemes and potential industrial-scale cheating.

They are only where they are because of us internet bampots and some honourable SFL chairmen.

But now they and their infernal allies have regrouped, and I am certain that they will be catapulted up the league structure a la Fiorentina as soon as possible.

Our enemies are still in place: Traynor; Regan; Doncaster; Ogilvie… Scottish football is exhausted after a terrible, existential battle this summer. Many fans will not want another fight with the forces of darkness, and there will be much less opposition to them being aided through wholesale league reconstruction…

Things haven’t gone quite to plan for Green – but he is nearly there. In 2 years time he will have a club universally recognised as RFC, more or less debt-free, playing in the top league in Scotland and ready to re-enter European competition.

    He will make a fortune.

Yup more important for clubs like Celtic to get player wages paid than to accept the rules and statutes of the game. I live in hope but I have also lived far too long to expect a change in direction from the; SFA, SPL, BBC, Strathclyde polis, SFL, UEFA, ECA, Scottish written media, Scottish television, The tartan army

It would seen that it is far too big A job for our board.

Hence the regularly delivered intelligence insulting new league platitudes.

    Same old same old.

The story I’m hearing is they are having to quickly build an extension to accommodate everyone.

Nah, couple of things. There’s an EF player in white socks and what looks like a NewThems player in white socks too, and they’re being handed bibs. Plus, where’s the officials? (possible answer – in blue with the rest of the team).

I want us to spend on a CH and Striker. We will sell Ki for around £7 million but very much doubt we will buy Rhodes.

We will try for Scott Dann if we conclude the sale of Ki, prepared to go to £3 million for Dann I hear.

Who the striker is, will most probably depend on if we qualify for UCL group stages, just what I hear.

    Keep the Faith!

Hey I thought you were joking about the delayed KO because the clock on livescore was ticking away nicely.

It’s just reset itself for an 8pmKO

Need to be very careful about the boasted attendance figures- East Fife are entitled to half – but when was the last time Oldco or Newco paid anyone?

I’m still waiting for my reply but, should it ever arrive, I imagine it will be as arrogant as yours.

It is most certainly not for the SFL to decide on the history of their newest member.

If you haven’t responded yet perhaps you could ask if they sought the view of the SFA before doing so.

Refresh just works- no need for time stamp

  15. oh right 8:00 kick off. I was confused, as I thought East Fife would have been at least 1 up after 20 minutes.

I would live to ask a FOI question of Strathclyde Police- have they paid- how much do they owe the public

  17. Lennybhoy

    I would take Dann

Wasnt saying we would get Rhodes i was just trying to point out how one big sale would allow us to get hi class striker without breaking bank Cheers

  18. I would say it is more to do with cash at the gate delaying kick off rather than any huge attendance.

  19. Ki a done deal with QPR when South Korea eliminated. We will bring a couple of players in then.

  20. McLean should be embarrassed, you would think this was the ch. league final, rather than a lower league, league cup tie.

    >>>>>>>>>

He’s getting really good reviews at the Olympics, and I wish we could keep him, but if he goes, I trust we will spend the cash. I just dont think it will be in this window, as we tend to sell late, to push the price up, and then dont have enough time to get anyone in.

As long as we spend in January, that’s OK for most seasons. But we need another striker now.

  22. Just put on the radio….

Cash on gate and delayed KOs –

Triggering memotires – do you remember a game at CP, think it was pre-season friendly, would be early 90s, pay-on-gate but the price was fixed at something and 50p. Long queues and loads in late because turnssties couldn’t deal with change.

  24. •-:¦:-•** -:¦:- sparkleghirl :¦:-.•**• -:¦:-• on

turnssties = turnstiles in case it’s not obvious.

  25. Sevco now world beaters with a goal against East Fife. £15,000 in wages combine to put them one up. lol!
