Rogic on a road well travelled, Ciftci’s mark

389

I’ve been slow to catch onto the Tom Rogic bandwagon but his performance yesterday marks a new level of attainment. After some fleeting appearances in the months following his arrival at the club as a 20-year-old, Rogic dropped off the radar. A loan return to Australia and a number of injuries meant he went close to two years without playing for Celtic before his return to the team last month. I’d written him off, and when the teams were announced to face Dundee, I was a bit disappointed to see him in the team ahead of Scott Allan.

Yesterday was like a light being switched on. He demonstrated speed, skill, intelligence and finishing. If we had acquired him for a lot of money last month, I’d be delighted at what was on show.

All of this happened, of course, against a poorly organised Dundee team. Far greater challenges lie ahead, but just like the transformation in Nir Bitton a year ago, or the gains Wanyama made in 2012, we can hope to transform Rogic from a lost-looking squad player into a top performer.

I think we were all delighted Nadir Ciftci got off the mark. Being clean through on the keeper puts the burden of onus on the striker. A significant percentage of such chances are lost, but Nadir’s finish was assured. Like all strikers, he needed that first goal, and I suspect needed the assist he gained a moment earlier when setting Scott Brown up for the fifth.

More game-time and more goals are now needed, starting with Raith Rovers in the League Cup (ouch) on Wednesday.

Not 100% no, but I suspect that one of the human rights groups would have picked up on it if it had happened.

Anyway’s busy day ahead so I’ll leave it there.

    Bobby.

I try very hard not to initiate political conversations.

No doubt ,however,it would have happened.

Nevertheless,I feel the need to respond to obvious factual errors or the grossly biased distortions usually provided by idealogues.

    Can`t there be a middle ground ?

As we are constantly being reminded, children read these pages.

I am not playing your game.

The meanings of words matter as do the intentions of the user. You don’t understand either.

It was explained very clearly to you that I did not order you to say or think anything and yet you went on a rant that bore no credible resemblance to what was actually said to you to the version you decided on in your head. When taken apart by clear and concise analysis of the meaning of the language and it’s functions your argument did not stand up to scrutiny and naturally it was hilarious to you because you don’t really understand what I mean or meant nor what I said and so like a child you resorted to name calling to shut down debate while claiming people like me are trying to shut down your right to debate.

What is actually hilarious is the fact that you dismiss the function and meaning of modal verbs to tell me what I meant to say.

Too coin a phrase in the vernacular – geez peace.

As I say, I have no more time for this drivel. I shall never reply to you again and will scroll past anything else you ever post or on special occasions greet it with a yawn to emphasize my boredom.

I’ll ask you for a second time not to reply to me. I’m not spending a day fighting with you and no one on here wishes to read that so for the avoidance of doubt and the sanity of other posters I’m not continuing with this and I am sure most people will be pleased to know that. If Neganon2 wishes to rant all day I think posters can see that for what it is without further input from me.

I apologize to the blog for taking up other people’s time with responding to that individual. It will not happen again but when people throw around wild accusations against one’s character it is only natural that one will want to defend oneself to some degree or other.

If anyone found my initial comments offensive in any way that was not my intention and they certainly were not what neganon2 wanted to portray them as being. If people took them that way I ask that you accept my explanation and move on.

I would also rather get back to discussing Celtic.

I hope for a strong team tonight, another good performance with a few Cifcti goals.

Credit for trying to end this rather self absorbed childish spat with Neganon – But I think a one liner may have been more effective.

Yet not one SNP politician has said so.

It’s almost as though the SNP don’t allow any internal dissent or criticism of the party line.

For a mainstream political party governing Scotland that’s unhealthy. In fact I’d say it is sinister.

  11. My friends in Celtic,

The league cup is just an inconvenience for big teams and this will be reflected in the attendance tomorrow night.

This cup has now run its course and should be treated as an experimental tool. The ticket pricing can not be faulted, it’s just the cup has long lost its appeal.

For new clubs I suppose games like tonight’s is their ” holy grail” but for us it’s only a cog in the wheel of a treble that some crave.

I totally agree. I think the whip system (because it’s really just an extension of that) is completely anti-democratic.

  13. Politics high jacking the blog AGAIN?

Ah well I suppose PL,DD, TheTeam, RD And The Board get a wee rest then, so it’s not all bad, anyway, viva la Caladonia Republic, no sovereignty ya bass, a Scotland on its own, yi think the SNP would go for that? Not a chance in hell, if they did then I’d maybe think of voting for them BUT? Never gonna happen, both I mean, HH

  15. Never mind the SNP or, the polis….what about the swivel-eyed-lizards in the boardroom at Celtic Park who took the easy way out….after the ‘shame-game’….a game that was so shameful that…Celtic FC were summoned to a Govt-Summit on the basis that they had….3….players booked….ah mean, this board of directors took the kowtowing-back-of-the-bus-route….on ‘your’ behalf and,…..know what the worst bit is?….All Celtic supporters from the ‘shame-game’ forward to today,…..have been sacrificed…served-up as sitting-ducks….and, ‘you’ pay these swivel-eyed-lizards…year in-year out…what will it take before you get it?

Cue last night, and today.A change of tack.Back to his other equally preferred rant.”Sectarian, racist Scotland, the SNP,and anyone who votes for them”.

An absolute blight on this blog, and I am happy to see more and more latching on to his agendas.

The only problem is,I see his bosom buddy,Canamalar,is jumping in to his defence.Dear God,there’s a right pair.

Search as much as you like, there is nowhere in this”Sectarian, racist”country, you will find a Brassiere big enough to fit them both in.

Yes it’s true that many children may read or participate in the blog. Good because it can be educational, and it’s diversity is one of most endearing traits.

It can also illustrate how childish us “grown ups” can be at times.

Don’t understand why we can be so childish.

Quote re Sevco v St Johnstone, from Mark “The Magi” Warburton on SSN

“All the papers are saying it’s huge test for us because they are Premiership. We had a test against St Mirren, against Hibs, going to Alloa on their surface was a test, Queen of the South on a different surface was a test and Dumbarton was a test because of the one stand.”
