Roll up, roll up, crap club

821

The Rangers International share prospectus contained references about league reconstruction possibly expediting the club’s ascent to the Scottish Premier League for the first time.  This was never on anyone else’s agenda and was merely the latest manifestation of the train of thought that Scottish football could not, and would not, consider life without ‘Rangers’ in the top flight, or perhaps one division below.  We can only hope that the company’s budgeting was not dependent on this aspiration.

Even the most ardent advocates of the belief structure that a ‘Rangers’ branded company is wanted and needed by the rest of the game must now accept ample evidence exists that their flat earth claims are folly.  For the record, Scottish football no more needs Celtic than it did Rangers, we are a lumbering albatross around their necks.

The Rangers chief executive, Charles Green, makes a valid point about the remainder of his club’s season, “If this [12-12-18 reconstruction] does happen, what is the point of us finishing the season?

“We might as well have a winter break from now until August. I can’t see any point in carrying on with meaningless matches.”

Crap club

As many have pointed out, his is the same purpose as the teams in each division who are free of relegation threats and already out of title/promotion contention – it’s called sport, but all teams in the SFL Third Division are effectively now playing for the joy of the game itself, which is pretty much what most of the do anyway.  Let’s hope Mr Green’s comments are not widely reported to those he is trying to sell tickets to.  It was astutely reported that Green has the makings of a PT Barnum about him, but rubbishing your own product is more Gerald Ratner than Barnum.

Roll up, roll up

By contrast, PT Lawwell’s comments on the proposed reorganisation, “To be fair, it is one of the very infrequent times when the greater good of the game has been taken into account”, could be taken straight from the consensus-builder’s manual.  It remains to be seen how best to serve the greater good, but any solution has to work for every club, not just one or two.

Delighted Terry Butcher is staying in the Highlands.  Great news for Inverness and the SPL.  I’m enjoying this season; more please.

  1. Philbhoy –

1 pint of bellhave Best has 172 calories. I pint of Magners has 205.

1 pound in weight is the equivalent of around 3,500 calories.

Switching to Magners will give a calory increase of 33 per pint. So, all else being equal, switching from Bellhaven to Magners will increase your weight by 1 pound for every 106 pints you drink. If you keep to the upper limit of recommended units per week (28 – 14 pints) you’ll put on 1 pound every 7.6 weeks. AS we’ve signed a 3-year deal you’ll be 1st 6½ pounds heavier when we reach the end of the current deal.

    Hope that helps!

    Jobo (back to lusking… ;-)

  2. There may be nothing illegal about the share ISSUE. It’s just EVERYTHING else associated with it and the manky mob that gives cause for concern. Or have we not had ample proof now of their activities for decades? And thse are only the ones that have been dragged, kicking & screaming, into the daylight.

  4. Yes Green is very dangerous or Naive, I know which i i think he is,How else would he know to head to Northern isle in the first place if it wasn’t his plan all along and this new fear we are seeing across the board, Its bigger than football and until someone has the nads to stand up against it, It will remain so.

  5. I didn’t for the life of me expect the SFA/SFL to forge ahead without taking into concideration the dead club, simply because that has been the established order of things for so long now, so, is it a new dawn for Scottish football? time will tell but one thing is for sure Sevco have no say anymore, well they may have via thier support in the press and media but surley even they must waken up to the reality of what is beginning to happen.

I must say a big well done to The Celtic Board, playing a quality game and an equivilent well done to Terry Butcher for staying with ICT, can’t see him going anywhere near Sevco.

My son went to the Chelsea/Swansea game last night, thought it was ok but no atmosphere!!

  6. Sky TV

Enjoy greater revenues from 4 Celtic v sevco derbies

Its that simple, hence there influence behind the scenes to get Sevco back to the top flight ASAP, SKY will continue to promote Sevco

Answer switch them off, dont subscribe

  7. Jabba attracts derision from his former fellow professionals. (lifted from The Grauniad):

[ On Tuesday evening, a somewhat bizarre article appeared on the Rangers website, written by a member of the club’s media department. It stated: “This club, the biggest one in the country, were not invited to take part in talks which will shape the game’s future. We are then entitled to conclude that this club are not important, which is strange indeed when so many fans of other clubs continue to be obsessed by Rangers, who are simply getting on with their own affairs asking no favour from anyone.” ]

Aye, Jabba, ya fat ignorant plum, ye got that right: “not important” is exactly the new default position for yer manky employers…..and you.

We’re not “obsessed”….we’re just making double sure that you and your ilk get buried.

They’d probably mark a Tim objecting to the continued promotion as a support, they will skew any figures to back their agenda

  11. Just reading the article there about green bullishness and when will the fans get sick of them , my bet is they wont because that’s what they are like. So he is already one of them. Go on a forum, message board or phone in and not one bad word is being said about this man, He is a Liar and they can’t see it. Its all Charles, Charles, Charles. No Green or Charlie, he has played it beautifully into their heart of darkness. And when all else fails kick the Celtic bus to get them rallied. Media and politicians all very complicit in this dangerous rabble rouser’s game. all it takes for Evil to prevail is for a good man to do nothing (paraphrase). You get the jist. But how else can we play it but leave them to fall over their own laces?

  12. How can it be right that the chairman of a football club (Falkirk) has to say, almost pleadingly, that it’s “too dangerous” to talk about the ratbags?

Should not the police be beating a path to his door to find out what he is so fearful of, and to offer him protection?

And if it has come to this, on top of everything else, why are questions not being asked in The Scottish Parliament?

And where is the inquiry from the judiciary on the ascendancy of fear supplanting the rule of law, as displayed by the antics of those associated with “Ssshh..you know who.” F.C.?

Oh, I forgot. That’s just the way it is.

  14. lionsroar67 i think sky like the msm should be canned from any decent Celtic supporter, I canned it years ago, As Celtic aside, it creates big stories out of nothing, Its helped over inflate the PL to what we see today (an entity set on destroying the fundementals of sport i.e. fair competition) Its always been and will be pro sevco as they are an english team after all. ; ).

  20. Update on Juve away tickets…

Celtic have just over 2,000 tickets and because of demand, anyone who is a grade E on Celtic’s classification (i.e. people who havent been to any of the last 6 euro away games), will be very unlikely to get a ticket, even if they’re registered with one of Tom Cook’s trips.

  25. On the Magners deal …great work by PL et al

However, cannae help but think that Magners are also getting a great deal of bang for their buck

A club respected worldwide in the last 16 of the biggest club football tournament in the world

At a total cost for three years which would buy you a month or two as Man Utd second sponsors ….

  26. Why the coverage of cg on sky though? at what end? to embarrass our game? our nation? him? seem’s pretty big story out of nothing which is par for the course since he’s came up. they are in the 4th tier of Scottish football surly this usually doesn’t merit this kind of coverage. Sky a backer or someone high at sky?

    Seem’s overkill to me!
