Ronny, this is your starting point

1151

Ronny Deila seems to be more upset at the poor performance yesterday than I was. My expectation on hearing the team matched what we saw. We have taken big steps to turn things around in recent weeks but, Ronny, this is your starting point, and it’s not as high as you might have thought.

Hopefully we’ll be back to something more recognisable as a full squad on Wedenesday, including Wakasooooooo.

Blog on the go this week, email delays too.

Ed Balls. If he was a Tory Chancellor, I would boo him as a matter of course. But as a Labour one – absolutely without a clue. Miliband – unelectable.

Save 200 million from child benefit, etc., cut minister pay by 5 %, etc. – absolute bullsh!t. Moving the deckchairs on the Titanic.

Where are the plans to take a fair tax from all individuals (irrespective of their ability to employ advisers to help with tax-efficient schemes for avoidance), all businesses operating in the UK (irrespective of their ability to spot opportunities to avoid UK tax by playing the system) and tax-avoiders (like the huns – EBTs etc) – all of which costs the county thousands of millions.

Also, virtually nothing about developing industry and creating jobs – deficit will fall when people have jobs, and can create products people want to buy – absolutely not a clue. People don’t want to rely on benefits, they want to be ably to have productive jobs, and support themeselves and their families, if they are physically and mentally able.

What on Earth has happened to the Labour Party? Corporate, Stage Managed, Big Conversation, No Policy Unless A Focus Groups Says So, No Conviction, New Labour – they will get utterly decimated in the next General Election. Sad for so many good people who are in the party, and who have been betrayed by almost chronically bad leadership – good local Labour people let down by the Westminster gang.

  12. Very down beat about the way us fans are reacting to Ronny D.

I truly think the knives have been out since more or less day one.

I think some fans want him to fail so they can blame the board for making a cheap appointment.

Ok, he has not had the best of starts. What were people’s minimum expectations?

Remembering he inherited a squad we all said needed strengthening. Also remembering how early his campaign started.

Europe – The CL was a disaster, granted. It was also played out at a time when most clubs were still playing friendlies. Our manager had lost his captain and then his goalie.

League – St J away was as good a result as NL would likely have managed there.

DU was a fantastic performance and result. ICT was poor, but then it was a second strung side and I’ve seen NL struggle many times up there. Dundee? A team cobbled together. Poor result but understandable when looking at the big picture. Aberdeen – A ok performance and good result, again, it unlike NL performances against the same. Motherwell – typical euro hangover and again, a weakened side.

Europa League – a bit harem scarem but a draw in Salszburg is good going.

I make it about 11 weeks since he took over. He has had to play 22 games. Watch videos of signings. Sign players. Train players. Settle in a new country.

Yet for some, he hasn’t got us playing with cohesion.

The guy has probably taken 20 – 25 good training sessions…..

If you have every played football at any level you will recognise that you do some things on instinct. If asked to change those instincts it will take a lot of practice.

My interest in Leigh stems from the fact that I wish he were getting a regular start with us. Apart from his obvious ability, his joy at playing for Celtic is,to me,obvious.

Remember his goal celebration against Hearts?

Contrast that with the ” boots for hire “, “biding my time till a better offer in the E.P.L”.comes along.

    Playing for the jersey.Remember that?

Yes, I remember it well, and I agree with you on Leigh. I hope to see him start on Wednesday.

As for “biding my time till a better offer in the E.P.L. comes along” ~ how did that work out then? (rhetorical question)

We have literally JUST moved in to Fall.

Yet loads of fans/ supporters are calling for the head of a man hurriedly appointed in summer.

Short termism, and I know it’s not a word.

The time for Obama to stand up and be counted was about a year ago with his red line in Syria.

  20. Glad we took it at the line. Was voting like a mad man until I had to go to the gym…thought all was lost as we were slightly behind…god…. we celtic fans are good. Champions

  21. I’m torn on this. We are effectively propping up corrupt rulers in the region, who have spread radical Islamic teaching by financing mosques, imams and madrasahs.

Saudi Arabia in particular is reaping what they sowed.

ISIS are a blight on humanity and they need eradicated.

But innocents suffer more from random poorly targeted air strikes.

Infantry and tanks can be more discriminating and can better avoid collateral damage.

However, I have been ranting about the ethnic cleansing of Christians throughout the Middle and Far East.

So all we can all do is to pray for the success of the attacks and to spare the innocent.

  22. GG

    Like Ukraine… As ISIS.

On the Grand Chess Game the US and UK have friends in low places….

You are torn because our media and political reps are hypocrites….

Many on here have for years saw through what this website calls Lazy Journalism… In relation to Fitba. Many more, with no interest in Fitba witnessed it in Scotland over the last fee weeks. When required, the TV and newspapers pump out the same old drum beat of negativity… Fear. And the older generation buy it.

The same editorial template applies to foreign policy…. But like Fitba in Scotland….

    It is not Lazy…

    It is well thought out…

It is called editorial decision making.

What is becoming apparent is in politics, just as in Fotba before, new media is showing that old media is well past it’s sell by date…

You are torn, I would suggest, because your gut, rightly, tells you they are spoon feeding us crap.

  23. Imagine….

    Just for a moment….

That we were the Bad Guys!

    Whoa…..

    Just like the Huns…

Cognitive Dissonance kicks in, and demands we do not do that.

We might laugh at the Huns denial…

But never question our own assumptions.

  24. PJ

I’m torn because I want to see these brutes blown off the face of the earth.

Yet I know that in the process innocent men, women and children will die either as direct casualties or in retaliation from the butchers.

I’m torn because the world has stood by while the ethnic cleansing of Christians has taken place all over the region, and now we are propping up the regimes responsible.

I spent almost a decade in the region and I know that your common man in the street just wants what we all want. Peace to earn a living and provide security for his family.

Humans are all too often inhumane.

  25. GG

im intrested in this “reformation” of the club (probably not an ideal word :-) )

i dont follow the train o though that Celtic were so far behind the rest of Europe and dont understand why a boss of a second rate team from Norway has been appointed to carry out such a radical change

can you give us a few examples of what radical changes that he has brought, or will bring to our club, other than no coca cola.

I dont see ANY evidence of fitness improvements

I dont see ANY evidence that he even knows what formation to play

Nor do I agree that we were a team of fatties

In fact what i have seen is more like

    More poor and mediocre signings

A teamsheet that fluctuates wildly from week to week

A team no fitter or stronger than the likes of Motherwell

Until I see different, Im afraid I will comment on what I see.

  26. tamrabam

    One last post then bed

Our lack of fitness was apparent late in games last season, particularly in the CL.

We have operated mainly with the core team which Neil had.

Let’s not only give the guy some time till at least we see how the, I hesitate to say HIS, new signings fit into the squad, but also how his ideas work in the dismal dark days of winter.

It’s the witching hour and bed calls.

Be good and keep the place tidy.
