Ronny, this is your starting point

1151

Ronny Deila seems to be more upset at the poor performance yesterday than I was. My expectation on hearing the team matched what we saw. We have taken big steps to turn things around in recent weeks but, Ronny, this is your starting point, and it’s not as high as you might have thought.

Hopefully we’ll be back to something more recognisable as a full squad on Wedenesday, including Wakasooooooo.

Blog on the go this week, email delays too.

  1. Is Leigh Griffiths becoming the new Tony Watt? Decent player seems troubled and if the manager says he is not in his plans at the moment I would imagine that’s that, we have two new strikers who have played two games each and are as yet SPL goal virigins I think for us as a support as soon as one of them starts hitting the back of the net the LG story will become history..

Step up Stefan and John, your team needs you..

    Bring on the mini monsters..

  2. I’m hoping to see a full strength hoops side take to the field tomorrow. No experiments. No passengers.

As ol’ dolly p would say…It’s all about the cups.

I forgot to say thank you for your kind words during all the referendum chat.

With regards to RD, I really enjoyed the 2nd half on Saturday, and I think we were unlucky not to take a win. It’s clear he can’t depend on some of the 2nd string players but I can’t recall that being different for any manager in the last 15 years or more.

    ——–

The second half was a vast improvement on the first.

However, we need to ask why that was.

Simply it was the introduction of Brown and Commons.

That begs the question. Why were they left on the bench in the first place?

Geordie Munro. Interesting well we will have to wait and see I am looking forward to the game I think it will be a ding dong affair which we will win narrowly.H.H.

  5. A big four days ahead of RD

Defeat to Hearts U/21’s in the league cup followed by the dropping of any points to a poor St Mirren side on Saturday would result in huge pressure on his management tenure continuing

Before the season started i wasn’t interested in the league cup, to a degree i am still not that bothered, play the kids was my thoughts, still think that way

Its indicative of how the season is going that RD is being urged to get his full team out tomorrow night in a must win game for Celtic………………………………..

I saw those stats, too, and – though I was at the game – found them to paint a rosier picture than I had expected.

A break down between first and second half would be interesting.

That aside, their goalie (who must now hold some kind of record for the number of times he kicked the ball straight into touch) didn’t have to make a genuinely difficult save all afternoon …

    ——————–

I seem to remember at least 3good saves in the second half alone.

I really enjoyed the tempo of the game in the 2nd half, as others have stated we aren’t that great at the moment. All we can do is hope RD can turn it round over the course of the season.

  7. Lionroars 67,

Im usually the same. League cup usually holds no real interest to me.

But let’s be honest, this is no usual season. No champions league, the league will take care of itself imo and the manager in his rookie season needs a double of some sort to keep fans onside.

  8. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Geordie Munro. I want to win everything even if the hoops were playing tidily winks I would want them to win.Come on Rony and you Bhoys in green go and get us the treble. H.H.

  9. “That begs the question. Why were they left on the bench in the first place?”

    HamiltonTim,

I’m assuming the manager wanted a look at the team without them and a look to see who can be relied on. But also realising their importance and kept them in the squad.

I don’t think he really wanted to have to bring them on. Much like MON and henke in the cup exit to Inverness cally.

  10. I see some zombies( have aquired) a brain and are now going down the 100 shareholers signatures route to get resolutions proposed at their AGM.

  11. Re – the not good enough players, Kayal, Biton etc

While I subscribe to the view that they are not our top players they do suffer, IMO, from never actually playing in the team WITH our top players.

Kayal, Biton, young Liam rarely get to play in the settled side they are usually instead of.

Maybe introduce one or two with the strong spine, I and others, have opined recently.

Example, Johansen needs Broonie, there is no value in pairing him with young Liam, it adversely affects both their games.

Really what is the point playing Biton with Kayal and Tonev? Not one of that three will assist the others. Although I think Broonie and Stefan could be ably assisted by Biton or Kayal and definitely be beneficial to the likes of Henderson.

Anyways old man’s golf calling. Loving this semi retirement.

  12. Captain Beefheart on

For Europe, our coach was left with two strikers who we can hardly rely on to emerge from pre season in tip top condition. That was the fault of the board and of NL (who signed some of the hapless striking rubbish).

  13. So we are in tricky situation.. I cant commet too much because of work and holidays i havent saw a game yet this season but options are

Get rid now or end of season where a new gaffer will come in and want to change everything his own way putting us back another season

    Or

Hope ronnie takes a step back and realises hes trying to do things too quickly , keep it simple get results and slowly impliment your own ideas.

I do think he has great ideas on how a club should be playing football and how players should be in top condition.

Reports seemed to suggest ronnie was meant to replace mjalby.. Then maybe replace lenny after a season.. That would have worked perfect.

Lenny decided to call it earlier and left us searching and we all know how that turned out.. Keano etc so cant blame ronnie for taking the chance when offered.

  14. Paul67 has a subtle and sublime way with words.

This article is the closest I have seen him come to frustration with our new manager.

When paul67 seen the team he expected the outcome. And suggesting to Ronny that he is making things difficult for himself by his tactics and selections.

  15. We must beat Jambos Wednesday. I couldn;t bear it if we don’t.

Haven;t been on for a few weeks.

Been grafting hard and spending time with the wee man.

My job is still in consultation. The uncertainty is unsettling.

Hey ho, still here for now.

Griffiths must start against Jambos. We must attack them from first minute. The jambos reckon they will rest some of their first team players. League is their priority and they have a decent lead. They keep beating sevco and they are home free.

    Good day to you all.

Is there no Wifi at the conference? Surely, CQN would be a welcome distraction from the crap being spouted there?

googybhoy ♥ celtic, I had just come off the phone to the T.O. asking that very question and saw your query. I’m looking at getting a single ticket for my boy for one of the games.

What I was told was that at the moment it’s still only the three match packages that are for sale. Individual tickets will then go on sale to S.B. holders (she wasn’t able to say when), then if there are tickets left for the parts of the stadium that are open they will go on general sale.

Her best advice? Keep an eye on the website…………………………….great:-(

  19. If the new strikers find their feet then we will be alright.

The back 5 will surely need improving soon. Maybe when we get Lustig back we will settle. Also, I am hoping Denayer will learn his lessons.

  20. Captain Beefheart on

Any chance that the corrupt Labour party can just put a silent Caroline Flint on stage for the remainder of their conference? That is preferable to listening to hypocritical class warriors.

  21. livibhoy,

Hope all turns out well with your job, yourself and your good lady could do without the worry.

As for our recent performances on the park…think I’ll bite my tongue and RD turns it around HH

  22. Its a huge 8 days for Ronny and the team. League Cup, SPFL and huge game in Europa. These 3 games can make him or break him. 3 good results and he has bought himself a lifeline, 3 bad ones and I’ll be joining the chorus demanding he goes. I have no desire to join a chorus.
