Ronny, this is your starting point

1151

Ronny Deila seems to be more upset at the poor performance yesterday than I was. My expectation on hearing the team matched what we saw. We have taken big steps to turn things around in recent weeks but, Ronny, this is your starting point, and it’s not as high as you might have thought.

Hopefully we’ll be back to something more recognisable as a full squad on Wedenesday, including Wakasooooooo.

Blog on the go this week, email delays too.

What about 2 good and a bad, or 1 good and 2 bad?

    What about 3 OKs?

    A truly amazing story.

Sounds like an incredible young man, with a wonderful supportive family.

Loved the bit about going round to Bill Wyman’s house!

    Besta luck to you too!

Chips ‘must’ be cooked in lard and cut big enough to get your teeth round. They are not chips otherwise.

Chips are best with gravy preferably thick, so thick it sticks to your gums.

*Ignore above if you prefer oven chips*

    A true inspiration.

Humbling experience. I told him to do a show at the Edinburgh festival. His experiences with celebrities was hillarious. An incredible man.

It’s experiences like meeting Craig that make you take stock and sit and think about what is important.

  6. kdc I concentrated on the extremes but as you say if the results are mixed then its a question of evaluating progress or lack of it. Obviously I want the Manager & team to succeed but I stand by my post that the next 8 days are crucial.

  7. I’m new to the forum and feel like a broken record already.

But, people keep lining up to boot RD.

    Celtic 2012 – 2013 –

    First 6 SPL fixtures…..

    Aberdeen 1-0 Win

    Ross Cty 1-1

    ICT 4-2 Win

    Hibs 2-2

    St Johnstone 2-1 Loss

    Dundee 2-0 Win

It can happen. Particularly when you have so many games.

As I posted last night, RD has had around 22 games in his 11 week tenure.

He is getting no time to train the squad when you factor in rest days. Thats just a fact.

He will end up being pushed out the door at this rate without ever having had the chance to take us forward. I can never remember a manager showing such a willingness to use every means possible to improve our club.

    Analysts, dieticians, psychology…..

Then we are told he should forget that. Get LG in the team regardless of attitude. Play KC at all costs, even though he cannot cope in Europe.

I hope he survives but if not i suspect our next appointment will be a reaction to this…. a safe pair of hands… British… Owen Coyle or the like.

    Backwards… backwards.

Then in 18 months we’ll all be asking why we look less fit / athletic than our opponents in the CL qfrs and why our youngsters aren’t developing….

  8. CELTIC legend John Divers has died at the age of 74.

The player who scored 101 goals for the club in 232 appearances from 1957 to 1966 had been in ill health for some time.

Divers was the son of a Celtic player of the same name in the 1930s and was also the grand-nephew of the legendary Patsy Gallacher.

He scored the first goal to kick-start the nine consecutive league championships, an away strike in a 4-0 win over Dundee United in 1965.

Divers was released by Jock Stein a year later and joined Partick Thistle where he played for three seasons before retiring to take up teaching as a profession.

His long-time Celtic pal John Hughes said last night: “John and I hit it off right from the first day I joined the club in 1959.

“He helped me settle in at Celtic and I will always be grateful to him. John will be sorely missed.”

Divers, who passed away at Clydebank Hospice, is survived by widow Liz and sons Barry and Jonathan.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

    RIP John Divers.

Saw him play many games in the 60’s.

I actually knew his Dad quite well who worked with my Dad in Babcocks & Wilcox together in Renfrew.( 2 ex Celts ) after their careers finished.

  11. Cheers Lefty.

Going along to see what tinkering, tactical brilliance and perpetual dugout sitting is on offer. Can’t wait!

thing is tomorrow could be a 10-0 stroke of genious having us all guffaw for remainder of week or it could be a 2 or 3 nil defeat.

    That is were we are.

Absolutely not got a clue what to expect!

Long gone are the dyas of being quitely confident.

But alas, when you employ an assistant you get an assistant.

PL’s esponsible for how the RD tenure turns out.

Is it a stroke of genious or is it a stroke rendering our club paralysed and withering?

  12. guernica, A lot of sense in what you say but this is a results based business. The most important thing for a Manager is to get his team selection and tactics right for each individual game. So far Ronny has not done well in this department, our Champions League efforts were an unmitigated disaster and our League form has been poor with the exception of the Dundee United game. I’m all for fitness, dieticians and psychology and anything that might give us an edge but if we don’t set up our team correctly and provide cover for our back four and if we continue tot play players out of position and fail to make the right substitutions if Plan A is not working then we are on a hiding to nothing.
