Yesterday I caught myself moaning about potentially winning the league without playing a game (epitome of first world problems). How quickly we forget the pain of the 90s. Let’s bring the title home as soon as possible, no matter where we are or what we’re doing. There could be people doing the Ronny Roar in shopping streets across Scotland on Saturday.
The one place Ronny will not be doing the Ronny Roar is out shopping, though. This time of year managers’ weekends are fully booked: one day for the game, one day scouting at another game. With a game on the Friday night Ronny will be able to take in games on Saturday and Sunday. Scouting opportunities before the end of the season are limited, so he’ll value the extra day.
A year ago Hibs asked to allow their season ticket holders into a play-off game for free – there’s your rule. The opportunity to deny another club the same has gone. Faux indignation about not even asking permission doesn’t register with me.

The war on drugs needs to be refocused and intensified.
The treatment for those addicted to drugs, alcohol included, needs to be made more available and mandatory for those convicted of offences resulting from use or possession.
The war needs to be concentrated on the traffickers and pushers.
There is a general acceptance, wrongly IMO, of those using so called recreational or gateway drugs.
That’s where we need to put more resources to stigmatize their use, educate children to the dangers of cigarettes, alcohol and so called soft drugs.
Anyone who may have met me, might argue that I’ve never experienced it, not being a smoker or heavy drinker. Ever.
And of course being an old fogey.
What I have experienced is the despair and destruction seen at counseling centers, hospitals and AA meetings.
What I have experienced is the harm inflicted on families.
Those who profit from the misery they cause need to pay a high price.
Here and back at home, I strongly suspect without evidence I grant you, that police go far too easy on known local suppliers. Why? I only have suspicions.
How do supposedly unemployed people afford the trimmings of luxury with expensive cars, lavish lifestyles?
Only when we come down hard on these people, confiscating their wealth and imprisoning them for long uncomfortable periods will we have a chance to beat this western scourge.
I would apply the same sentences to human traffickers as well.

Since my earlier post I have changed location and so was just reading back.
Question: Is the use of proscribed sunstances a greater or lesser threat to society than the consumption of alcohol or taboacco?
I am not up to date on the stats but I would venture that the answer is clearly no. There is a far greater problem with alcohol abuse and addiction and smoking is clearly something that damages your health.
However, people make their own choices with smoking and with alcohol.
The greatest problem with alcohol is not its inherent qualities but when someone becomes addicted to it.
Question: Are proscibed drugs more addictive that alcohol?
Difficult one this because there is no legal measure of the quantity of unlawful substances sold.
However, there have been studies which suggest that the order of addiction is as follows:
1. Heroin
2. Crack Cocaine
3. Nicotine
4. Methadone
5. Crystal Meth
6. Alcohol
7. Cocaine
8. Amphetamines
9. Benzodiazepines (valium etc)
10 GHB ( a club drug and depressant )
However there are alcohol forums which will tell you that alcohol is far more dangerous than heroin because of its availability and frewuency of use and the anti smoking brigade will tell you the same about tobacco.
I have also read that officiallty the most addictive substance is sugar and that coffee is not far behind.
You will notice that completely absent from the list is cannabis.
As has been mentioned, in some countries cannabis is perfectly legal for personal use and there are pretty good arguments for making it legal in my opinion not least because there is evidence to suggest that it does lead to a reduction in the ue of “hard” drugs partly because it keeps purchasers away from organised unlawful dealers who may take the view that there is more money to be made with harder drugs, and partly because making it lawful and regulating strains of cannabis has tended to reduce the sale of the heavier strains such as skunk.
I have lost more friends and relations to alcohol than I ever have to cannabis ( and I don’t take cannabis by the way ) though I have had one acquaintance who attempted to hang himself as a result of his abuse of skunk strains.
Personally I think the four pillar system of dealing with drug abuse adopted by Switzerland is far ahead of anything else.

However, the point I was making earlier was that the death penalty or lawfully killing someone because a judge or the parliament decrees it should be so is not an answer to anything.
Substances themselves harm no one.
It is the abuse and reliance on the substances that is the killer.

We were a bit late getting to the show that night (I did say she was very cute)… as we were walking in, a couple were walking out…. they looked at us, burst out laughing and ran!

A loyalist group has been ordered to change the route of a parade amid fears over violence and disorder.
The Regimental Blues planned to hold a march through Glasgow’s east end and into the city centre on Saturday May 9.
Organisers from the loyalist pressure group previously met with police and council officials to hold talks on the route and arrangements of the parade.
The group wanted to start their procession on Garnock Street in the Royston area, down Royston Road onto High Street and then Gallowgate before moving onto London Road and finishing in Tullis Street.
Police and council bosses were told by organisers that the march will last around an hour and be attended by 75 Regimental Blues members.
However, after an objection by Police Scotland the group have been told they must change their route to avoid large parts of the city’s east end.
Council papers reveal the police “considered there are clear risks that if this procession was allowed to proceed” with the original route, there would be a “significant likelihood of public disorder with risks to public safety and extended disruption to the life of the local community”.
Representatives of the Regimental Blues said they specifically chose the route to “break down barriers” which associated certain parts of Glasgow with either the loyalist or Irish republican movements.
Officers said the route would pose a high risk of violence and public disorder and that only a major police presence, including riot police, could deal with any potential trouble.
After a meeting of Glasgow City Council’s public processions committee on Monday, the route will now change to start on John Knox Street near Glasgow Cathedral, then move onto Duke Street, High Street, down the Gallowgate before finishing on Tullis Street.
A council report on the march stated: “Police Scotland have made the following comments about the planned procession on May 9. Should this application be granted, community tensions could rise and the threat of serious disorder and violence is very high.
“This would not only impact significantly on the local residential and business community but the general public going about their daily business would also be severely affected.
“It is considered there are clear risks that if this procession was allowed to proceed as currently proposed, there would be a significant likelihood of public disorder with risks to public safety and extended disruption to the life of the local community.
“It is to be noted in these previous processions by the Regimental Blues there were no significant issues with the organiser and that the participants’ behaviour complied with the police and code of conduct for processions.
“The Regimental Blues have made a number of public statements about their views on groups which they regard as associated with Irish Republicanism. In terms of general principles of freedom of speech they are entitled to do so.”
Minutes from the committee’s decision meeting stated: “The committee agreed to impose an amended route for the procession on Saturday May 9, 2015 to take place with assembly at 1.15pm and march-off at 1.30pm on the following route: John Knox Street, Duke Street, High Street, Glasgow Cross, Gallowgate, Moir Street, London Road, Olympia Street, James Street, McKeith Street, Main Street, Tullis Street and disperse.”
