Congratulations to Celtic, who last night became the first Scottish team to win a European tie since, Celtic, last season. While I am sure we would all have preferred to face Dundalk in the next Champions League qualifying round, a trip to Norway to face Rosenborg will be welcome by the club.
Rosenborg are not the same force we faced 16 years ago, and even that team was a shadow of the team who tested Real Madrid a few seasons earlier. The Norwegians succumbed to the inevitable forces of economic plunder, as clubs from richer leagues picked off their talent at increasingly earlier ages.
We should have more than enough in the tank for this one.

Big Jock .
Our greatest hero.
Hunnish ?
Why don`t you stick that label on him as well ?
WHY I DID IT!
(Celtic View 1972)
Jock Stein explains that foray into the crowd at the Stirling game
‘The Wreckers are chanting about things that have nothing to do with football’
I don’t like criticising Celtic fans. But I have to take odds with at least a section of them. What I did on Saturday was something I’ve felt like doing for quite a while.
It’s my sincere wish that it will have a lasting effect, as I’m sure that the vast majority of our fans do. Celtic supporters have enjoyed a lot of good times during the past few years and all of it was due to hard work – by the players, the backroom boys and the directors.
The fans too have played a major role and we don’t want to see it all ruined now by the bad element who have recently emerged. Nor do we want to see the fans of long standing who followed us through the lean years discouraged from watching us play.
This bad element – or the wreckers as the View called them last week – are singing and chanting about things which have nothing to do with football.
Surely there are enough Celtic songs without introducing religion or politics or anything else.
I love the GB as well but at times they need to learn to box clever, maybe a couple of them don’t want to.
Bit of an overreaction though. Nothing wrong with most of the songs and the ‘Brendan at work’ banner, well if we’re getting done for that, there was an 80s pop band in Australia who should also be fined :)

Remember all Celtic
Fans/supporters
We are not as important as the green brigade
They are the only people who go an support the team
All my family are irish from the north
They are quite simply embarrassing
Infantile and politically nieve
If you want a political rally
Form a political party
Point of info in all the GB ghood versus bhad debate.
Reb songs were blasted out from all around the ground last night. All around.

THE GREEN MAN SAYS SACK THE BOARD on 20TH JULY 2017 10:43 AM
FFS, first it was a scarf that provoked huns, now its a GB banner that has offended everybody.
What will you all be offended by next. Drainpipe Trousers, Teenagers, Crisp Pokes, Haircuts.
So, a few of the GB had a banner. Its hardly the end of the world.
Maybe you should watch the news for a few hours, try Syria.
Or maybe even a comment on the disgraceful increase in the Pension age happening right here, which,I am sure will affect many on here.
Everything we do is offensive to them.Breathing ,for a start.Lets all just sit at the “Back of the bloody bus”and keep our heads down in case it offends them.
Someone had a go the other day about scott sinclairs hairdo.LOL.
Paul 67,
Very true , Rosenberg are only a shadow of the tide that defeated Real Madrid in 1997. Time changes everything.
In BR and our management team we know we will never underestimate them.

PL stepping down from the SPFL Board.H,mmm.Anyone any thoughts?.
Could be anything I suppose, but the timing could mean something.
___
If I was guessing…
PL doesn’t want his name associated with the SPFL’s attempt to dodge justice. Regardless what happens next he’ll not want any fingers pointed his way.
Paul67
Rosenborg will play the same game as Linfield by all accounts.
Celtic are a better side and I’m expecting to win both home and away.
Just seen the banners.
Rodgers At Work-not a problem.
Brendan’s Undefeated Army-ditto,”Army” is a fairly common term for fans of a club.
The Provo-ffs… No. not good at all.
The 3rd Qualifying round looks like this:
Group 1
Slavia Praha (CZE) v BATE Borisov (BLR)
Astana (KAZ) v Legia Warszawa (POL)
Maribor (SVN) v FH Hafnarfjördur (ISL)
København (DEN) v Vardar (MKD)
Celtic (SCO) v Rosenborg (NOR)
Group 2
Hapoel Beer-Sheva (ISR) v Ludogorets (BUL)
Viitorul (ROU) v APOEL (CYP)
Salzburg (AUT) v Rijeka (CRO)
Qarabağ (AZE) v Sheriff (MDA)
Partizan (SRB) v Olympiacos (GRE)
We can then meet any of the lowest 5 seeds that get through. There are a lot of familiar names in there but none that I think we cannot overcome.
KTF
What would be the financial cost to Celtic of a “behind closed doors” home CL game – £1.5m?.
Also denying 50,000 supporters watching their team.
Maybe the GB could “match the fine”
Anyone know how far we are from a ban?

I would like to hear Paul67’s view on this ? Are the PLC about to take on the fight more directly ?

Anyone know last night official attendance.
Vfr800 and Turkebhoy
I totally agree with those thoughts. The seventies was one period when our support (jungle or Celtic end) got anywhere close to the Hun in terms of songbook and varying degrees of fan behaviour. Also, last night’s rebel sing-song was carried out by at least half the stadium so not all the GB’s work, for anyone else throwing the book at them.

Why don`t they just take their banner and display it in George Square or any OTHER locality of their choosing.
Please.

Money will come out your account on the 24th and ST will be activated for the game. No need to do anything, and you save yourself £1.50 booking fee.
What’s not to like.. Pity I’m not on it yet..

The only item on the banner which identified directly with Ireland was the Easter Lily badge on the beret.
“The Easter Lily is an emblem of unity between the different traditions within the Irish nation as well as the heroism of those who sacrificed their lives for Irish Freedom. It symbolises unity, equality and prosperity for all Irish people everywhere. Wear yours with pride!”
The banners can be perceived as many things; some may even suggest they were quite witty. With the Easter Lily being present, it could also be perceived as a sign of unity with those in Ulster!

Struggling to see the logic in this. What exactly would Celtic be appealing?
The reason Political Statements at football grounds is `bad` is because UEFA says so.
CONCLUSION.
If you agree withUEFA in this matter, then criticise the GB ( and all other Celtic supporters who sang along last night).
If you don`t agree with UEFA, support those who fight against a perceived wrong.
JJ
PS Whatever your opinion on this matter, maybe not going over the top in expressing it will make the point more effectively.
BTW…it wasn’t a teenager…it was The Green Man…:-)
Most likely a fine from Eufa (could ask that section be closed) but lets not get carried away here it was a banner not a pitch invasion or disorder on the terraces.
Agree Rosenborg not what they were if their performance against Dundalk is a benchmark. However I am sure we will not underestimate them as they will be big and strong like most Scandinavian teams, are half way thru their season and will be much fitter that Linfield. No doubt come to CP WITH 10 man defence a so goals might be hard to come by so we need to be more clinical.
On the other hand they are the equivalent of mid table SPFL team and I would really be looking to win both legs.

It’s UEFA’s competition, they make the rules. Celtic are a member Club. Neither of your points are relevant.
I’m not sure the hun will like this.
Linfield manager David Healy says Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers shook hands with every Linfield player and member of staff in their dressing-room after Wednesday’s Champions League game.
“That means a lot to me and a lot to the staff and players that he took the time to do that,” said Healy, after Celtic’s 4-0 win on the night which completed a 6-0 aggregate success for the Glasgow club.
“Brendan is a class act on and off the field. He is a great ambassador for this great football club.”
Here are the co-efficients for those teams left in the 3rd qualifying round:
Olympiakos Piraeus Gre 64.580
Celtic Sco 42.785
FC Salzburg Aut 40.570
FC København Den 37.800

Re the GB
I don’t agree with every display or the meaning behind it or it’s appropriateness in relation to our football club at times.
Overall their impact is positive IMO and I love seeing/hearing them at the games .
I don’t think anyone would disagree that the atmosphere would be as flat as a two week old half drank bottle of irn bru without them.
I get the feeling our plc know this and are aware also of the financially beneficial aspect of the GB that they are only to happy to benefit from when it suits.
