Scanning other leaders on NewsNow I see the Michael Gannon header that we should play the Benny Hill theme tune instead of Zadoc the Priest on Euro nights at Celtic Park. We know it was a bad performance, and have had a few recently, but thankfully the quality of our football hasn’t yet plumbed the depths of what the Daily Record puts forward as football journalism.
Please Celtic, encourage this tired, has-been publication to ply their trade somewhere other than Celtic Park where they can promote their agenda to those of their own ilk that want to cover up a decade of cheating along with them.

Apart from the fact that a few of our players are away on International duty, I feel this mini-break will be quite good for us. Broony, Simunovic and Forrest could all benefit from it. Ambrose, too, when I think of it. I am sure Efe does not receive the unoriginal `bombscare` tag when he plays for his country.
It dosent matter what you think about Rae having or not having cans on his ears .Our fans were very disrespectful to men and woman of different faiths and all parts of the world who gave there lives in 2 world wars.so don’t come on here and defend these clowns .who do more damage to our club.and don’t you forget many Celtic Catholics died fighting for our freedom. very professional performance today , in poor weather conditions and on the back of negative media coverage.
With the open system we play, the defense is always going to be exposed. We are dependent on midfielders breaking up play. Unfortunately with Brown injured and Johansen a shadow of last season, too much pressure put on back four.
Secondly, set pieces still remain an issue – Jozo coming in will help and hopefully someone in january.

Great result in very difficult conditions. Four crackin goals today.
Think our back four look very nervous, well done to Efe and Craig for holding it together all day.
An organizer at the back would usually be a commanding CB, we don’t have one so then it would down to Craig Gordon to be more vocal but he isnae. He wold also do much better at coming of his line and attacking the ball and the opposition as well, to make a long thought short you are correct, we are in desperate need of an organizer

Thoroughly enjoyed the second half.
It shows again though the gulf between our domestic opposition and EL teams. We’ve now won our last 4 SPFL games by a combined score of 14-3.
Cowiebhoy: agree about our defending at corners. It was responsible for the equaliser by Fenebache. We cleared the first corner but it came straight back and Broony twice cleared it out the box and we ended up conceding another corner which they scored from. I don’t get the tactic. I’d leave Griff in the centre circle and Forrest out wide. That way if we’re clearing the ball we’ve got definitive options that we know in advance.
A good result at a difficult venue. Good to see an end product from James Forrest and we also scored from a corner…need to lie down from the excitement.
Hopefully get a settled back four soon, still very shaky.

Fair play to Chris Sutton admonishing wee Daryl, who after asking big Yogi did he not feel Efes foul on Liam Boyce deserved more than a free and possibly yellow card, and being advised by Yogi that it wasn’t that bad, proceeded to ask Chris Sutton did he not feel more punishment should have been meted out. Chris advised him that he was being somewhat mischevious in pursuing this line of questioning. I think he missed his wee pal, EBT McCann for an agreement and perusal of his rule book.

Did anyone who went to Ronny`s Open Forum ask him why we don`t leave a couple on the half-way line when the opposition have a corner? I cannot really see the benefit of all ten players in the box. I sometimes think our frailty in this area comes from indecision as players are guilty of leaving the defending to one and other.
I know Ronny will have a reason and I will probably agree with it once I have heard it but, as it stands, I remain at a loss to see the benefit of the current strategy.

Regards defending I think the issues are going to continue my reason being I saw an interview by Chris sutton with Ronnie deila, he Ronnie says if they go to long balls players will not develop and this may produce results not develop players, so its more building from the back he wants.
Well done Celtic i was worried about this game today
The Battered Bunnet on
A welcome 3 points in unhelpful conditions against a team that have done well recently, both in general and against us.
Good to see Griffiths bag another brace, both goals showing good striking.
Our central defenders though need The Priory treatment. Poor fellows are as nervous as a cat at a fireworks display. and it’s not helped by the way we play – today’s goal was lost at the back post. Again. The problem wasn’t the defenders, it was the ‘man short’ at the back post.
When the ball goes beyond the full back (Izzy today) the first cenre half has to go to ball, the 2nd centre half covers the front post position, and the other full back (Lustig today) moves across to cover the central area.
In the orthodox system, the wide midfielder (Forrest today) drops into the back post area as the surrogate full back.
But we don’t ask our wide midfielder to daothat. He’s asked to stay wide as an outball, or otherwise just assumed to be missing. We don’t use our wide midfielders to cover their full back when we’re being attacked. Accordingly, our back post is repeatedly exposed when teams beat the full back on the opposite side of the pitch.
Doesn’t matter when Griff and Rogic are scoring great goals for the fun of it, but in another game, against a better team, we get done.
If you watch Sportscene or MoTD tonight, count the number of goals scored from the back post at 6 yards. You’ll find that that area is the number 1 scoring zone.

We have not had the luxury of a settled defence for a few months now.
Jozo’s injuries, the absence of defensive cover in Brown and Lustig’s struggles to get back to full fitness have hampered our defence.
