Scott Brown not the only one worried about manager

1266

Scott Brown was not the only one was briefly worried about Neil Lennon’s position in recent months.  Neil has never particularly hidden his desire to work in England one day but when it became evident that there would be a few seats available in the English top flight, with the Everton job in particular becoming available, I am sure there were a few nervous twitches.

As and when Neil decides he is going to move on, Celtic will want to have a plan for succession in place, if not entirely executed.  In May, when Neil was fielding questions about moving on, I doubt any succession planning had taken place.  Some at the club would have been looking forward to a summer break and some player trading.  The prospect of finding a new manager, with all the inherent consequences for trading, preseason planning and Champions League qualification, would have caused mild panic.

Always be prepared.

How is your 1254125 work coming along?  Not started yet?  Today, Tom Conniffe completes his 125 mile walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal.  Go look and see how well his fundraising has gone (and get involved if you can).

  1. I’ve just read the Etims Monday diary in which they say…

“Theres a whole heap of twitter rumours and names being bandied about on other web sites, but reallistically, until they were pretty much ready to sign, Balde and van Dijk weren’t on anyones radar, so its logical to assume that the next incomings won’t be either. If you say that in a Mr. Spock voice it becomes even more credible.”

Huh? I don’t go to Etims for “credibility” – It’s close season. I’m desperate. Make some shit up guys.

If the Daily Record really meant business it would’ve ran with CG and CW audio links and the charity theft investigated by @corsica1968 but sadly that’ll look bad on their beloved new club so they won’t run with it.

another bonus system that no one knew about…….nice work if you can get it

    ——————————

Record Sport revelations this morning about the row over David Longmuir’s £100,000 bonus have confirmed their worst fears. For years now they have been watching form the terraces as their game has been mishandled by men in not so sharp suits with matching minds.

Everywhere you look it seems there is a reason to feel ashamed of our national sport. Under every stone, another scandal, crisis or argument is waiting to be uncovered.

This is Scottish football in its death throes. And it’s truly a heartbreaking sight.

    Eh?”

My reading of that was that The Herald reference to the SPFL Championship meant the Second Tier in Scottish Football in the same way that The Championship is Second Tier in England.

In that sense, the “journalist” is possibly accurate. All such a squad would need to win The Second Tier in Scotland would be a good manager 0:-)

Brown: Rangers set to land a knockout blow in cups

SCOTTISH boss legend Craig Brown reckons Rangers can muscle in on cup silverware this season after Ally McCoist’s summer signing splurge.

Craig Brown admires Rangers boss Ally McCoist’s summer signings

The former Scotland coach has looked on in admiration as seven players have joined the Ibrox club, with the majority having SPL experience.

Brown admits that McCoist, who starred for him in the dark blue of Scotland during his eight-year tenure as national boss, will prioritise the Second Division title.

But he believes that such is the quality of the new arrivals that the Ibrox men will be a clear and present danger in both major domestic cup competitions and red-hot Ramsdens Cup favourites.

Brown said: “I have been very impressed with the signings Ally has made so far.

“Any manager will tell you that the league is always going to be his priority but with the quality Rangers have brought in I think they will be a threat in both the major cup competitions.

“There will also be a determination in these tournaments to improve on last season and that, combined with the quality of player that has come in, will make Rangers formidable opposition in both the Scottish Cup and the Scottish Communities League Cup.

“I have to say that Ally, in my opinion, has made some very astute signings and all of these players have great top level experience and are established among the best players in the SPL.”

Having bossed an Aberdeen side that regularly saw Brown attempt to nullify the talents of the likes of Jon Daly and Nicky Law, the 72-year-old has no doubt that both men will prove a huge hit.

He said: “Ally has obviously looked to add both in terms of experience and quality and you look at Jon Daly and he will provide both of these and of course he can play in more than one position.

“So whether he is playing up front or at the centre of the defence he will be a formidable proposition.”

Brown continued: “Nicky Law was one of the best midfielders in the SPL last season and played a big part in Motherwell’s push for second and both players are good professionals who will fit in well at the club, I’m sure.

“Of course I know both Stevie Smith and Richard Foster well from having them up at Aberdeen. They are both great young professionals who will give Rangers a lot in terms of their flexibility and the fact they are both good footballers.

“What Ally has done this summer is sign some of the best domestic talent available. Rangers look very solid for the new season.”

When wattie gave Sally the controls in the Scottish cup with the full( bought with tax mans money) squad and they struggled as Sally tactics come from a lucky bag. With their squad now. They should get to semi finals of cups if they had a manager. But they don’t. They have Sally. Lol
