Season for points to be dropped in unlikely places

751

Yesterday’s result at Ibrox gave some welcome encouragement but it would be wrong to read too much into it.  Rangers still have the kind of lead that would have Celtic thoroughly confident of a league win and, lest we forget, St Johnstone collected all three points from Celtic Park already this season.

The win at Inverness was much more important.  The Highlanders are bottom of the league but that is a false position.  Two points separate Hibs, Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Inverness, while Kilmarnock, who shipped six goals to Inverness at home two weeks ago, are only a further two points away.  Even with 10 men Inverness remained well organised yesterday, don’t be surprised if they move ahead of the four teams above them in the weeks to come.

The league is remarkably tight from fourth place St Johnstone to bottom Inverness, where fewer points separate the teams than split Celtic and Rangers. Don’t, therefore, be surprised if points are dropped in the most unlikely places.

    Pleased with your reply thanks.

Because in effect you and I both, haven’t heard any.

Even if we include the few ‘muted’ some say revisited, and edited Up the Ra’s which have become mostly Up the Celts, it’s still amounts to zero Rebel Songs, that’s without going into a percentage of support singing or chanting debate, where ‘the few’ chants would number less than 5% IMHO.

Inside Celtic Park political add ons, ( and that’s all they are ) will cease, of that, I’m very confident, we are all Celtic Supporters after all, this problem is being driven by an increasingly deeply anti Catholic, and anti Celtic force.

Beside the obsessive grossly exaggerated, maniacal media coverage generated in Scotland, and Celtic having to toe the naughty bhoys establishment line, posts by Celtic fans ‘cringing on hearing Rebel Songs’ that haven’t been heard at Celtic Park since before Fergus McCann’s mission statement in 1993 really jump out of the page, at me.

Football doesn’t come into it. The word ‘majority’ doesn’t come into it. The words ‘political freedom’ do. I’ll defend anyone’s right to sing IRA songs of any vintage at Celtic Park, or anywhere else in Scotland, as long as ‘Flower of Scotland’ is belted out over the tannoy at the national stadium and the society at large glorifies in the campaigns of the British Armed Forces (even to the point where the wearing of a poppy has morphed into a sort of reverse of the star of David in Nazi Germany, wherby, the absence of said item from ones clothing becomes an open invitation to look down upon the wearer as an inferior sort of citizen).

Thus, the disastrous, appeasing, reactionary, hypocritical PR campaign by Celtic PLC leaves me heavy-of-heart. It’s a long shot I know, but perhaps one of the PLC board might digest the flavour of the reaction by many on this blog and indulge us with the answers to these nagging questions.

Since when has the singing of Republican songs at Celtic Park been exclusive to the Green Brigade?

When are Celtic PLC going to announce, explicitly, that they do not want the season ticket money of those who sing rebel songs at Parkhead?

When are the PLC going to explain their explicit focus on, and disdain for, the PIRA over any other incarnation of Republican Ideology?

Q3. When are the PLC going to explain their legitimisation of the British Armed Forces whilst fermenting tension between those who legitimise the past actions of PIRA through political songs and those, “the majority”(yawn), who don’t?

Be warned. Football is a red herring. This anti-Irish legislation will be coming to a car stereo, pub, or bedroom near you soon (but not, bizarrely, to an Orange Walk). Welcome to 21st Century Scotland. Will the last one to leave please turn off the Fenian Record Player.

You seem all for people’s culture being maintained individually – you’ve stated multiculturism does not work.

Yet you promote the notion that Celtic or maybe the Celtic support should dispense with its unique, singular, heritage.

Celtic is a Catholic Club and it has strong indivisible Irish roots (indeed antecedants)

    That’s just a fact.

    Plain old simple fact.

It exists without harming or hurting any other Celtic supporter from any other creed, colour or race.

I know this statement will rankle with many but it’s not meant as a gauntlet. It’s something to be embraced and understood.

    eurochamps67,

So, rangers are absolved from any responsibilty for underminig the british armed forces through their fiscal policy ?

No adverse decisions were made by govt’s due to lack of resources throughout rangers continued refusal to pay their dues ?

There were no wars going on, so it is safe to assume none of that lost revenue would have ended up kitting out a soldier. No wait, we cant assume that, but we can assume that in time of war, tax payers can say what the want because they’ve paid for that right, their resources are spent giving the choice.

    away and bile yer heed

  15. Kojo

We may well play with two forwards on Wednesday against Jock Stein’s old team, which as you know limits how we set up our midfield. One up front, as against Rennes earned us three goals, with young Victor in front of whoever Neil can play at centreback is the way to go, but he will be tempted to play both Stokes and Hooper at home against the Pars. And you know something, that’ll probably work just as well.

  18. About 7% of government expenditure goes on defence. So, assuming that the £50M hun tax bill had been paid and added to the billions the government spends, only around £3.5M would have been added to the defence budget.
