SECOND STRACHAN SNUB FOR CALMAC

1

CALLUM McGREGOR has received a second snub from Scotland international boss Gordon Strachan.

The 24-year-old Celtic midfielder had been expected to receive a call-up today following the double withdrawal of Tom Cairney and Steven Fletcher through injury.

But Strachan has instead turned to James Morrison for the World Cup qualifying ties against Lithuania on Friday and Malta a week tonight.

McGregor was left out of the Scots manager’s original pool of players last week and Hoops gaffer Brendan Rodgers expressed his disappointment.

He said: “I was surprised when he wasn’t in it – then even more surprised when I actually saw the squad.

“But I don’t think he can do any more.”

McGregor was an integral player for the champions throughout last season as they claimed a historic clean sweep of the domestic silverware.

Darren Fletcher is also a doubt and will have a knock assessed by Scotland medics this week.
