SFA finally acknowledge Rangers EBT issue

1494

Stewart Regan today gave a welcome update on the SFA’s on-going investigation into Rangers.  In response to Hugh Adam’s comments in today’s Daily Mail, Regan said:

“We are, however, aware of the most recent allegations made against Rangers FC today by a former director of the club. We shall investigate this matter thoroughly before making any further comment.”

SFA president, Campell Ogilvie, was general secretary and director of Rangers from 1978 until 2005. News broke about HMRC’s dispute over Rangers Employment Benefit Trust in 2010, you knew then, I knew then, the SFA knew then, but Ogilvie was subsequently elevated to the role of SFA president in 2011.  He is still on the SFA board.

We have waited almost two years the hear the SFA would investigate this matter. Now, with all the old certainties crumbling down around them, they realise they must act.

Can I be the first to congratulate Dundee FC on winning the Scottish Cup in 2003.

  6. Paul,

Maybe I missed this over all the excitement of recent weeks, but here’s

a wee gem in today’s Daily Mail.

“It is believed that Rangers (in administration-I added this) outsourced their tax and legal advice to

the Murray Group for an annual fee in the region of £500,000”

Now this is in an article by Stephen McGowan who has clearly

had an off-the-record briefing from your pal, Campbell Ogilvy, who

is pleading ignorance of all guilt. I imagine Ogilvy gave McGowan this

intelligence on another example of Moonbeams ripping off The People.

This is a theme you have

A theme you have highlighted down the years; how much Minty has

If I were a Rangers ( in administration) fan, I’d be furious. Permanently,

    I guess

How would these two auld fellas feel if a newco huns was allowed straight into the SPL?

    ——————————————–

Was offline for a few hours there ernie – sorry for the delay in response.

First up, whatever the outcome, newco or no, Division 3 or not there is a lot of fun to be had, a lot of quiet satisfaction watching the trials and tribulations of The Others.

The outcome will be what the outcome will be. I think most of us suspect that they will be back in some form. But there is the very real possibility that Rangers as we know them will cease to exist. That they may return as ‘newco’ will not change that. Yes, the neanderthals that follow follow them will follow follow the Newco. But that Newco will have to comply with a new scene. One where they cannot do what their predecessors did.

Yes, the press will likely be in their pockets but one thing I have taken from this process is the fact that a compliant press for rangers has not helped them. In fact it helped to kill them by denying there were problems.

Let us enjoy the carnage and take it from there.

  10. Every football fan should be careful in Scotland today – whether at or on their way too or from a ground, or in a pub where a game is onw, even if they are not watching it.

Hopefully the police in Aberdeen and Glasgow will not spend today answering emails and phone calls complaining about “offensive” chants and songs heard over TV or radio.

The police have an impossible task dealing with the new Act inside the ground – never mind the undoubted flood of contact from keen eared listeners.

Anyone arrested should expect to spend the weekend locked in a police cell for court on Monday. (and there is no comeback if the police lift the wrong person, as long as they don’t act maliciously).

So the some and substance of the Daily Record article is that Paul Murray hopes to raise a million a month to avoid players leaving and keep them going until the BTC.

Message for MR Traynor – You are not addressing the BTC or the x years of cheating that will soon see Rangers obliterated. Complicit in their demise and as bad as david Murray.

Has Mr Traynor got an offshore account and has he ever tapped anyones phone?

Today’s Fitba Pink [ Italy’s biggest selling newspaper ] tells me that Rangers Glasgow are dying . It also states that Scottish fitba will not survive that death..

Looks like the Administrators are hanging on in the hope of finding someone who is daft enough to buy. If they don’t – Liquidation looms.. Visions of dysentery come to mind.

Amidst it all I wonder if anyone is investigating the degree to which Minty ripped off his ” beloved Rangers”. Treated like a cash cow and left with the debt . A succulent double whammy..

Silence from The Captain of Industry

The silence coming out of Charlotte Square is deafening

What’s happened to the charismatic, outspoken Captain of Industry who rode the crest of a wave on the good ship Rangers?

Whilst Captain Schettino of the Costa Concordia languishes at home under house arrest, our errant ex Captain appears to have fallen into his lifeboat and sailed into the sunset without a backward look

The more the whole Whyte saga unravels, the more our ex Captain appears to be guilty of at best criminal negligence,at worse, a criminal financial conspiracy

The pain being inflicted on our club and supporters is close to unbearable with every dawn inflicting new and more damaging revelations upon OUR CLUB

Our ex Captains silence is damning

    May he rot in hell

    Here, here.

He’s a ****ing sub-human failure. A man who gambled with what wasnt his and lost what is dear to millions of people. He’s a dog-eared cither. An empty suit jacket.

I concur, rot in hell murray you fungus.

  19. Looking forward to the Aberdeen game, which will have the added atraction of seeing a couple of the new bhoys in action.

Celtic were given a rough deal with the 12:00 Saturday KO with so many players getting back from international duty.

LBut, like so ofter in the past, we’ll get on with it.

Not making any predictions about the score, but if the MIBs behave themselves, there is no reason to expect anything other than 3pts.

Here’s a random thought concerning our “neighbours” (by some miracle there are still hanging around)…

Regarding the “charity” match planned later this month against AC Milan, I wonder how many of the RFC IA legneds were actually beneficiaries of dodgy wage deals?

The whiter-than-white Cardigan will set up his usual Wattinaccio from the likes of Swally, Laudrup, Gascoigne, the Flying Pig, Amoruso, Albertz, Mols, Numan, and Gough.

After the game (assuming it goes ahead) it would be fitting if it was these legneds who secured the padlock on the gates of the big hoose for the very last time.

    Hail Hail
