As six Celtic fans face the prospect of months in a Dutch jail if police evidence is preferred, take a look at this CCTV video from the Euro Pub in Dam Square:
This is no more than the strong bullying the vulnerable. It is shocking and affected more than just Celtic fans, other innocent bystanders were picked on.
What can you do about it? We’re looking for around 40 more bucketeers to collect before the Aberdeen game on Saturday for the legal defence of the six Celtic fans. You’ll need to get to the stadium a bit early, bucket shaking will be required. That’s all.

If you mean the first two paragraphs from my last post I was talking about how tonights judgements will be viewed.
You cannot go to Uefa and say the Dutch courts have got it wrong. You cannot go to Uefa and say Amsterdam is not safe because the courts have passed draconian sentences.
From Uefa’s perpsective Amsterdam have shown they know how to deal with people who attack the police.
We know it is shocking and terrible.
But the suits at Uefa will not be interested and in fact will agree with the Dutch courts.

ACGR – we can’t expect any support from the football operation of the club, it’s too politically sensitive, ie we need to overturn today’s convictions, which would mean huge loss of face for Dutch judiciary.
Now, more than ever in recent times, we need someone to show real leadership at the club. Certainly not the football manager, who has been through more than enough and needs to concentrate solely on football matters. The CEO or Chairman (God help us!) need to step up and show support for the fans who have been wrongly convicted today.
The official response to today’s events from the club could have a huge effect on club/supporter relations. I just hope that it’s not a massive own goal !

After following the trial this evening one factor stands out for me as the key to it all – the cops’ compensation.
It looks like our bhoys fell foul of streetwise cops out to make a fast buck: start a rammy, get some collars, get compen off the state.
I’d be interested to know just how many footy violence cases in Amsterdam have resulted in cops receiving compensation for involvement; looks like a nice little earner for those fascistic pricks.

There were 4 supporters groups there that night, if I recall correctly, the Celtic support got caught in the crossfire.
As I said above, I won’t even go there to see Celtic compete in a Euro Final. The place has a sick undercurrent that exploits anything it can, the Polis obviously getting what they can for lashing out at peaceful Football Supporters is just, A microcosm of Amsterdam.

T4, I get that i.e. your first paragraph. In your last paragraph you make the point about the club issuing a statement. That statement should not cow tow to the injustice of the dutch court. Celtic should stand together on this.
TET, I could have worded that better. The day after the game it was reported other club’s supporters were also arrested in Amsterdam. I think there was a Europa game on the Wednesday, maybe PSV v an eastern European side? St Pauli supporters were also mentioned as being in with Celtic supporters. I hope they all got home safely.
Any recommendation for a decent hotel for me for the Thursday night in barca. Oldtim was very emphatic, he disnay want me staying in the same hotel as him, the auld bassa:_))
That’s an open question BTW as I’ve never been to Barcelona and will take all advice given.

For once I am in the camp of the club having to consider their action very carefully.
They are in a very precarious position, do they dis the court system, if they do, they will open themselfs up to ridicule.
This is a very sensitive situation for them, they obviously support the bhoys re their allowing a bucket colletion, but this is now political for them, they can’t be seen to go against the powers, that would not go down well at the second most corrupt football organisation in europe, catch 22.
Personally I want them to come out all guns blazing, but we all know that ain’t gonna happen, but as you say, a carefully worded statement wouldn’t go amiss.
