Spartak sack manager Emeri after derby defeat

871

Spartak Moscow today sacked manager Unai Emeri after a 1-5 home league defeat against eight placed Dinamo Moscow.  Spartak are confirmed as bottom of Celtic’s Champions League group before they head to Celtic Park for the final game on 5 December.

Emeri has been increasingly unpopular since taking over earlier this year when his spell at Valencia ended, while rumours of dissent in the dressing room were never far away.  I had hoped he would remain in place for the visit to Glasgow but there will be a new man in charge by then.

A group of around 200 supporters demonstrated after the game, many chanting for the foreign players to ‘Go home’.

    Morning,mate.

Up early to bill some clients at overtime rates?

AFKA Aiden O’fovit from had enough of it for one night. Which,by the standards of my mates back home,is virtually genius level from them.

When the site was updated a coupla years back,I couldn’t register that one for some reason.

Personally,I think AWE NAW had pre-registered a few out of devilment.

    He’s never denied it.

    Although,then again,I’ve never asked him!

  9. Good Morning to all.

Russian media just announced that Valery Karpin will be Spartak coach until the end of the year.

That means some changes in the squad. Spartak will play different game now.

  10. Morning,

I am starting to assume Longmuir has been promised a future role on the Sevco board.

His comments on their behalf are becoming quite nauseating.

  11. BMCUW,

Hi mate do u know Flann O’Briens in Bath? It’s listed in celticbars.com.

I was in it only two weeks ago, lovely big place.

Got a lot of GAA paraphernalia, and a fair bit of Celtic stuff, too.

    Good beer,good prices,good craic.

Especially when I “accidentally” let it slip that my mate supported a dead club….

    Oh,what fun we had!

Good to have you back on-where have you been hiding?

  14. Hi zbyszek,

Are the fans happy with the new guy?

Will he make them play different tactics?

As ever thanks for the update :)

  15. Does anyone know if this is legit? A Henrik Larsson dinner at the thistle hotel on the 4th and 5th of january. henriklarsson.co.uk

  16. TootingTim

Valery Karpin is not new guy.

2008/09 Michael Laudrup , 8 months at Spartak, fired after poor result against same Dynamo Moscow.

Valey Karpin took the job from Laudrup in Spring 2009. Spent there three years at the club. Karpin won silver medals in 2009 and 2012.

Sacked at the end of the last season without clear reasons given to the press. Sacked as the coach, became working as the General Director.

Are the fans happy? Most of all they are happy that Emeri is out.

As for Karpin. I think the majority is happy but they expect the better coach .

  17. Re. tactics.

Yes, Karpin will play different tactics. Emeri played first games 4-4-2 system. Last few games were experiments.

  18. Mr Z, is Karpin not the guy who played in Spain towards the end of his career? Being lazy…. I’ll check online!:-) HH

Speaking of CELTIC BARS,I had intended to go to The Cock Tavern a few weeks ago to lend my support.

I must have got the only taxi-driver in London who had never heard of it-probably a Chelsea fan…..

So The Doric Arch at Euston station had to do. Very cheap for central London, btw, and a bookies next door-what’s not to like?

  21. Art of War

Yes that is him. He played for Real Sociedad from Basque country. Unai Emeri is Basque. Karpin found Emeri and he sacked him.

  22. Seen that place is it cheap?

Surprised at that it looked full of sharp-elbowed go-getters to me…

Will u be out Wed night to watch the game anywhere?

  23. Thx Mr Z, I see he had short spells at Valencia and Celta Vigo. Hope he didn’t pick up too many coaching tips!

  24. Reading the Metro on train to work. Front page article – Scientists have identified a gene which could help solve infertility in humans.

…..when the gene SRPK is missing chromosomes do not ‘huddle’ together.

    ———————–

Keep on ‘huddling’ bhoys and ghirls. ;-)

  25. canamalar @ 03:33 on 26 November, 2012 posted that ‘arrests at Scottish football matches. 2012/13. Total 30. Sevco 15. 50% of all arrests sevco are responsible for.’ And added this link http://t.co/BaTLJx1r.

The info in the link (which is copy of a reply to an FoI request to the polis asking for stats on football-related arrests) – short though it is – raises quite a few supplementary questions. Indeed, in the good ol’ days, an enterprising researcher might have been able to wangle funds for a post-grad scholarship out of it …

Anyway, amongst the figures that stood out were those which that 88 Hibees were arrested during season 2011/12 (cf. 81 Celtic fans and 99 Rangers ‘fans’ in the same period), yet no were Hibees recorded as having been arrested in the early part of this season.

What the heck’s that all about?

A wee bit disappointingly, too, the plods’ reply doesn’t show how many of those arrested ended up actually being convicted …

    Hmmmm.

    FF

PS – Can I offer a quick word of thanks to Canamalar, 16 Roads, BMCUW and Rascar for allowing us to listen in to their latest overnight musings. Again: possible scope for a SSRC post-grad thesis or two …

    ‘UMB’ indeed!

  26. FF

    Interesting stats

Particularly when you consider how ardently the polis hassle the GB

seems sevco Huns are the same as the oldco …:-))
