I try to avoid those who really should be avoided but I caught the report of Peter Lawwell’s Sky TV interview on their website yesterday. The “No summer sales” headline was misleading in itself as our chief exec actually said “there is no real necessity to sell players now”.
We are a solvent and well-run football club, there is no real, or imagined, necessity to sell, but there is an enormous leap between this status and “no summer sales”. All clubs, not just Celtic, sell when an offer exceeds their valuation for a player and they believe the money could be more productively redeployed elsewhere. There is no necessity for Manchester City to sell players, not until the oil runs out in the Middle East, anyway, but they may still sell.
Best part of the article was from Charlie Nicholas, “I’m a bitter idiot. Listen, I’ll prove it…..”
I’ve translated that quote from the vernacular.
Loved newco Rangers accounts. £3.5m in the bank on 31 December, £1.5m loan since, so they have £5m to operate until the season ticket money comes in, which will just be enough, but cash burn is running at over £1m per month; close to £15m a year.
£30m-£50m is not enough.

IPAD,
Well, I don’t post in order to receive compliments, just as well, but thanks anyway, especially as some dangling modifiers(?) made some sentences more difficult to follow. Couldn’t be bothered sorting them out.
I commend you for own posts. GreenPinata and Jamesgang are also good to read. Rare lights of open mindedness in this place.

1 POINTS FOR EACH CORRECT ANSWER
Always hated Dylan’s nasal vocals on his songs but realise he was a very good songwriter/ poet.
But never ever realised he was on the square until I read this……
Notable Freemasons:
Theodore Roosevelt: Often expressing his interest in Freemasonry, Roosevelt visited lodges at home and abroad. He participated in Masonic ceremonies on several occasions while President, delivering the principal address on one occasion and wearing Masonic regalia on another.
William H. Taft: Taft was another of the Presidents that took part in various Masonic activities while in office. On one occasion he posed for a picture while wearing Washington’s Masonic regalia at the White House.
Warren G. Harding: Becoming a Mason only three years before his death, Harding nevertheless became very active Masonically and joined a number of the appendant orders.
Franklin D. Roosevelt: A Mason for thirty-four years, Roosevelt participated in numerous Masonic activities, including “raising” his son Elliott as a Master Mason in 1933.
Harry S. Truman: Becoming a Mason in 1909, Truman was the second President to have served as a Grand Master, being elected Grand Master of Missouri in 1940. He was probably the most active Mason of any President since Washington. Millions of Americans witnessed his Masonic funeral service on national television
Bob Dylan: Known to have served as Junior Warden of his lodge in Minnesota. Eventually holding membership in three different lodges (Masons may move membership from one lodge to another or, in some states, become dual or plural members), Dylan was Chaplain in the second of these in Malibu.
Gerald R. Ford: Still living at this writing, it is perhaps too early to summarize Ford’s Masonic life.
In addition to the Presidents listed, it is widely believed that Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were Masons, but documentation of their Masonic memberships has never been discovered. Lyndon B. Johnson received the first degree and was thus an Entered Appentice, but he never became a Master Mason.

Chokky replaced Charlie at Celtic, and I don’t think they even played together for the international team.
Nicholas had twice the skill that Brian had,but McClair had twice the career that Charlie had.
Strange game fitba.
Still think Nicholas was the best two footed player ever to wear the Hoops…..even better than Lubo .
Good night all thanx and god bless

As a youngster I absolutely idolised Charlie Nic but he couldnae lace Lubo’s boots mate.
Lubo
Wore velcro boots
Rye
Disagree with last line :-)
And he’s married to a Bannockburn Ghirl
BCW
TTT just text his laptop has died and he can’t find the charger (that I hid!!!)
Ryecatcher,
Thanks be to the masons then if they helped in any way to develop the great man. Adding that to the fact that the Scottish masons did zilch to save Rangers, one can start to have more sympathies with the goat molesters.
Dig out Dylan live 1966 and turn your life around Rye.
HT
If Charlie Nic had the application of either Choccy or Lubo, he could have been an all time great.
Tsoal,
You and Bsr are just too funny.
:-)
DelaneyS Dunky I know they are ugly but you answering Q8 ?
Ger57
Agreed but he didn’t and because of that he doesn’t deserve to even be considered in the same bracket as Lubo.
Just my opinion mind.
Keep up the prayers guys…..
