SPL stalemate leaves bare truth narrative for Rangers

643

A stalemate was one of the more positive possible outcomes from today’s SPL meeting.  Such are the layers of intimidation which have been levelled across a spectrum of football clubs, bodies and individuals in the last week, it was difficult to imagine SPL chairmen standing up for sporting integrity after Sandy Jardine’s ominous words.

Unfortunately, for the Magnificent Duff and Phelps, they will have to shred plans to blame someone else for the shambles they are, kind of, administering.  Their creative talents will be taxed to the limit to explain for another two weeks why it is in creditors interests to consume available monies while Craig Whyte has not moved an inch in 10 weeks on demands for his shares of stadium security.

The narrative of this story is also important.  Angry Ally could have blamed the SPL chairmen for Rangers imminent descent into oblivion, and demanded to know where they live, but this would have been a corruption of the truth.  Rangers will not die because of the SPL or SFA but because their own misdeeds of the last 20 years are about to catch up with them.

This will be their final narrative.  Be angry at those who administered and profited from the EBTs, no one else.

  1. Duff and Phelps are merely ‘caretakers’……….. (IMHO)

I thought Keevins was going to say ” The bottom line is –

The Big house must stay open”

    risible

  3. Celtic seemed to be just going through the motions in recent games, understandably, seeing that the title was already in the bag.

But plain to see that the team meant business yesterday and were determined to give Le Blue a big send off particularly as we may not be seeing them again for quite a while.

Looks like Gary Hooper could finish the season on 30 goals and with the success Jelavic is having with Everton with 9 goals in ten matches I imagine Southampton will be knocking on the door at Celtic Park trying to snatch Hoops away from us – only for big money of course. Great win for Leinster with 30,000 Frenchies in that cauldron in the European Cup semi-final to make it a memorable Sunday double.

  4. If Paul McConville’s theory of Bill Millers legal scam comes true then its the end of football in this country for me.

I’ve always said I wouldn’t harm Celtic because of the cheating hun scum but if next season has the huns playing in the SPL unharmed in anyway…ie history, ground, training complex, players, etc.

Then until Celtic get out of this anti-catholic, anti-Celtic cesspit of a country I wont spend a penny on anything relating to the farce that is Scottish football.

Not one pence..season book, strips, SKY, ESPN, etc.

    Scam or not a Scam??

I watched the ‘toilet’ footage earlier today, it angered me that police officers just stood by supervising the huns.

The actual huns I’m trying to feel pity for them, these people are retarded and have serious mental health problems but the police were on around £30 an hour to stop crime being commited and done nothing.

Bugger it if arresting 1 or 2 huns caused a riot.

It wasn’t that long ago that Strathclyde’s finest horse charged us in Janefield St.

If a riot kicked-off yesterday then let them draw their batons and use them on any person breaking the law.Thats what these huns need.We have seen plenty of foreign police forces control the huns before, yet at home the softly, softly approach has never worked. The huns for years have broken the laws in this country with no threat of arrest. Now the SNP or RFC government bring in supposedly stricter laws to control football but still the huns openly breach them with again not threat of arrest.

These next few weeks are the most crucial in Celtics history.

Time to grow a pair and protect our club.

I for one will never sit at the back of the bus again.

  5. Doncaster only confirmed what the realistic amongst us have been saying for ages. The huns will not be allowed out of the SPL and will probably not face any further sanctions although clearly thet are unlikely to be starting out from a position of strength.

I expect my club to do everything in their power to stop it but that is all I can expect.

I’m astonished that any Celtic supporter would contemplate withdrawing their support for the club in this scenario.

If anything it will only strengthen my support for the club.

I saw my first game on 7th May 1966 (a 1-0 win at Fir Park) and have followed the team ever since. Season ticket since 1983, shareholder from the start of the Fergus.

I support Celtic unconditionally and no cheating huns or bent SPL is going to change that.

  6. Paddy Gallagher

threaten the Sky deal …..Doncaster will keech himself

    however

i have a sad feeling we`ll be spun the line of…” we did all we could “…

  7. After Doncaster tonight and todays cop out, I think we should get used the fact its appears direct entry to SPL wth no sanctions…hope I am wrong but looking more likely as each day passes.

  8. I bought a Daily Record today. That makes a total of about three in fifteen years.

I was astonished at what I’ve been missing.

Appreciate the elegance and insight of the following comment on our victory.

“This ensured that the mask administering the bragging rights was free to be placed over the mouths of the Parkhead fans.”

Now I just need somebody cleverer than I am to explain what it means.

I can see that there’s a mask and this mask administers bragging rights. It’s been occupied lately, but now it’s free.

Why, though is it now to be placed on our mouths?

    A mask on our mouths?

I thought it was Rangers who were to be punished.

Think I’ll wait another few years before buying any more Records.

Little boost for rangers, Naismith has pledged his future at ibrox, this means there line up next season will be Naismith, Naifuture, Naiclass, Naimoney, Naistadium, Naihope, Naitrophies, Naiprospects, Naifans, Naimanager, Naiplayers.=))

  11. Celtic should be speaking to Sky directly, telling them they will not sign up to new deal which is on the table if newco is allowed straight back into SPL sanction free. They should also tell them that if the others vote the TV deal through we will not co-operate with Sky at any of our games they cover or any advertising/marketing with them. Likewise we should make it clear to anyone who is thinking of taking over league sponsorship from Clydesdale Bank next year that we will not co-operate with them.

  12. Snake Plissken on

Why would any Celtic fan hurt Celtic because of the scumbaggery of the SPL and Rangers?

Like Neil Lennon said – It’s only tainted if you cheat.

Celtic didn’t cheat and don’t deserve us turning our backs on them.

If they get a free pass based on skulduggery, that cannot be Celtic’s fault.

By all means hurt those who voted to help them and boycott their games but don’t hurt our club.

Don’t hurt Celtic and Celtic should in turn not allow their fans into Celtic park for either game against them as punishment for their cheating. Keep our money, give them none.

  13. Auld Neil Lennon heid on

If Newco are presented as anything other than that to football authority to be treated as the Oldco then HMRC will argue it is not a Newco and pursue repayment in full.

So to avoid that a Newco HAS to be a Newco.

To get an SFA license it has to meet UEFA criteria and it cannot because UEFA does not allow new clubs to appear from nowhere to play at that professional level without them getting there on sporting merit.

They also deem it wise that applying clubs can meet a set of critetia to protect other clubs from thr very skullduggery the Newco is a child of.

Either sporting integrity matters or it does not.

If it does not why have an SFA or UEFA? Why not just let the SPL operate in an integrity vaccum where Rangers always win?

  14. i don’t like celtic’s silence on this matter, but every fair minded individual in the world recognizes that any newco being admitted directly into the top flight of football is a disgrace and cheating is being rewarded, add the cheating over 20 years and if that does not give celtic grounds to get to f*ck out of here then i don’t know what will!!!!!!!!

i’ll tell you what though, i would be expecting celtic to take the sfa/ spl to court for loss of earnings over that period, what so £150 million? i don’t think celtic will be the only club or fans group that is angry with the bull

  15. the long wait is over on

I’ve thought all along and posted a few times that the only thing I’m certain about in all of this is that , ultimately, we’ll be disappointed in the sanctions they receive.

I think that the other SPL chairmen don’t have the bottle to take the commercial gamble that the sporting integrity argument inevitably involves and will vote them back into the SPL at all costs.

In that event they might as well go the whole hog and make provision that if ever Rangers are in danger of being relegated that the league rules can be changed half way through the season to prevent that happening. It’s effectively the same thing.

  16. Aldersyde – if it is shown that Celtic stood back and allowed this to happen in any way then Celtic will be the team worst hit that Rangers. This isnt about blind loyalty – to allow that to happen and to continue to prop up the league would simply be stupidity.

    Celtic MUST fight this.

What was the Daily Record saying about NL today?

  17. merseycelt lmfao as the big house door slams shut on

Incredibly dense hun on snyde asking how the Div 3 clubs would be able to bring their stadia up to standard to accommodate the thousands of hun fans!

    Doh!

  18. So suddenly after one interview Neil Doncaster is transformed into the Godfather the guy has got about as much power as those spam letters you get offering a bigger netter sex life!!

Bluff and bluster Bhoys, he might think he’s got the power but the huns are royally franced take more than a bad hairtcut choob like doncaster to save them..

  19. Snake – if Celtic allow this to happen then they dont deserve our support. This is cheating and match fixing – pure and simple.

Gary is a goalador of real quality and at only 23 years is improving. I think this is the third season he’s broken the 20 goal mark. Was he the top scorer in the Championship when he came to us?

I’d say he can make the 30 goals by the end of this season.

    Hope he stays with us.

  22. Paddy Gallagher on

Perhaps we should wait to see what Celtic do in response to any perceived conclusion before falling out.

  23. Keevins needs to stop spouting his nonsense – he is a short sighted , self rightous idiot.

If rangers are allowed to play in SPL the fans would walk away = SPL ruined

If rangers are allowed to play in SPL with sanctions (points/signings) = Rangers fans dodnt show as the only sing when winning!

Simple – they need to start per UEFA regulation, as a new company , in the lower divisions

Keevins has a responsibility to figure out how teams would survive without Rangers – let me help him;-

Top 6 clubs now have a MAJOR financial incentive to to qualify for europe.

Top 6 clubs would attact outside investment as their chances of glory increases significantly.

Development of youth would take more priority – eg , Pressure from Rangers overspending eliminated = more of a level playing field.

    Moral argument must be won!!!!

Very disappointed if his hinting is based on what the SPL 10 want.

How he can pre judge it before the EBT decision, before the vote on the new penalties for points deduction etc, seems “unusual” at the very least.

SPL though are a commercial concern, and it looks like this will fall upon the SFA ref all of the above.

Then there is the issue of HMRC and Whyte.

  25. If huns are playing in SPHell next year should Celtic go out and spend 140 million this window.

  26. Keevins must go to bed at night thinking about the TV contract and wake up thinking about the TV contract. It’s his obsession. What a bore…and so out of touch with reality.

  27. Just catching up on the non vote. All good I suppose – another unknown for the bidders to worry about.

I suppose Duff and Phelps will have to leave setting a deadline for really really final, ok no kidding, this is it, offers until next week now.
