SPL stalemate leaves bare truth narrative for Rangers

643

A stalemate was one of the more positive possible outcomes from today’s SPL meeting.  Such are the layers of intimidation which have been levelled across a spectrum of football clubs, bodies and individuals in the last week, it was difficult to imagine SPL chairmen standing up for sporting integrity after Sandy Jardine’s ominous words.

Unfortunately, for the Magnificent Duff and Phelps, they will have to shred plans to blame someone else for the shambles they are, kind of, administering.  Their creative talents will be taxed to the limit to explain for another two weeks why it is in creditors interests to consume available monies while Craig Whyte has not moved an inch in 10 weeks on demands for his shares of stadium security.

The narrative of this story is also important.  Angry Ally could have blamed the SPL chairmen for Rangers imminent descent into oblivion, and demanded to know where they live, but this would have been a corruption of the truth.  Rangers will not die because of the SPL or SFA but because their own misdeeds of the last 20 years are about to catch up with them.

This will be their final narrative.  Be angry at those who administered and profited from the EBTs, no one else.

Celtic must approach UEFA before any decision is made, the SFA are not fit for purpose in this country (have they ever been ?).The evidence of corruption, cover ups, bent refereeing and cheating has to be exposed.

  3. if rangers get away with doing what they like without punishment, call in eufa and demand a move citing 20 years of cheating being rewarded with a clean slate in the spl.

its ironic rangers oldco dies due to cheating every team in scotland for 20 years and a newco is going to start its life by cheating 30 sfl clubs by gaining automatic entry into the spl

  4. We all see the world differently.

If Celtic are party to a new hun co in the spl, I will not be part of it, my choice.

It will fly in the face of what Celtic stand for.

If Celtic are serious about upholding the integrity of the game they will resign.

I would rather there was no Celtic, than Celtic be part of what is proposed.

If it does come to be that they are in the spl with only a few years of points deduction, we will have gone back 50 years, their triumphilism and supremicity will have won, we will be fair game for anything.

    Not for me.

  5. I haven’t heard the interview and don’t think I want to.

Is there a chance we/you are all over-reacting and that this is a fuss over nothing?

  6. Man who V Man? I’m watching a replay of yesterday’s ‘ Humbling the Huns’ – now that was a game. The EPL – ‘yer avin a laff’

  8. What is the Stars on

Cant beleive people are getting upset about the possibility of Rangers being in the SPL next year.

    (1) They wont

    (2) If by some miracle they are they will be so crippled financially they will have the weakest Rangers team in living memory and they will get spanked regularly and not just by Celtic

So Chill peeps,24 hours ago its all jelly and ice cream and now doom and gloom, forget about them, they are yesterdays news.

However HMRC will not forget about them,newco/oldco any which co ya like.

Insofar as the football side of things go………..

Brother Alistair McCoist of the Thornliebank Guiding Star, Lodge No. 512, should at any rate, maintain his continuing employment with them, in similar style (or lack of such) to/of the brethren worldwide, i.e. through political influence and willing puppetry…….

As opposed to the ability to complete tasks in a timely and cost efficient manner…….

  10. Surely this audio must be sent to UEFA, he’s basically saying if clubs have debt you can go into admin and have debt wiped.

What happened to financial fair rules, no wonder the meeting was cancelled today.

Corrupt everyone of them, please Celtic we can’t allow this to happen.

    Kojo,

You seem to be criticising Alex Thompson for the one prerequisite of any decent journalist, which is impartiality.

Yes, indeed, if he found behaviour on our side which was illegal or obnoxious, he would report it. I would expect him to, and be disappointed if he didn’t.

He hasn’t – he has found the astonishing (to him) story of Scotland’s dirty little secret. A corrupt, Apartheid-based club with a thug support, buoyed and protected by an equally-corrupt establishment.

All we have been shouting for for decades is a level playing field. Don’t start kicking one of the guys who is at long, long last shining a light into the darkness and blowing apart the lazy conception in England and elsewhere that ‘they’re as bad as each other up there’.

The posts on here and elsewhere last night about that t**t who twittered his racist garbage about Bartley show we have nothing to fear from journalists who are committed to doing their job honestly.

  14. if as being made out that rangers get away completely free with everything

intact including history, then what the hell was all the prudency on behalf of

    our club and others for?

  15. Allgreen tthinks SPL are at it on

No matter the final outcome the SPL want the Huns in some form in the top league.

If this happens we can’t sit back and allow cheating and law breaking to go virtually unpunished. UEFA, FIFA and anyone else who will listen must be involved.

  16. Ahead of the wee derby in Manchesterland

Anyone remember when Fergie came to see Kompany play for Anderlecht against us @ CP

Was named “Limited Kompany” after the match by english rags

Fergie saw a player in Miller (Liam)

He was then, he could have been if he stayed, but between Fergie and greed he lost out on a real career

    Shame, he?

  17. If you were in a casino and cheated and won 134 million how long would your nose stay where it is.

If you cheated the lottery out of 134 million pounds how long would you be walking the streets.

If you cheated lots of small business’s, football clubs all over Europe, the population of your country, for many, many years, well that is ok. Carry on we need you.

  20. Well if the newco huns are allowed straight back into the SPL Scottish professional football can no longer pretend to be a sport.

    That includes Celtic.

the scenario outlined in Paul McConvilles excellent blog would be a nightmare, as would any scenario that sees a liquidated rangers in the SPL with history intact and minimum sanctions. I say this not because I have a pathological hatred of that club,( my hatred is irrevelent) but because it would be the death of sporting integrity in this country and it would inflate even further the average huns sense of entitlement and superiority.

If the Celtic board were complicit in this, as much as i love my club, I could no longer give it my support.

The Huns have done their best to destroy and corrupt football in this country. I would rather see Celtic resign from the League than be part of any stitch up to save them.

    NO TO NEWCO!

  24. We need to stay cool, calm and collected in the next few days and weeks

There will be plenty of highs and potential lows before the huns finally disappear

Doncaster is alickspittle jobsworth – he is of no account

The people on the board of CFC Plc are miles ahead of these nonenties and have been since this car crash started to unfold sveral years ago

Do people really believe that the huns and their follow follow travellers are capable of out witting our board?

Do people think that Brian Quinn has spent time and effort working on fair play regulations for UEFA and will be taken in or out flanked by Dumb and Dumber or the pathetic BKs ( including Brain Kennedy) or the Yank or Donothing at the SPL?

    Pleeeeeaaaassssssseeeee

    No chance

    The huns will die

They will play no where next season

    The courts will be busy

They might, might apply for entry to the SFL for 2013/14

If they fail that deadline – then they will not come back at all

Lets ignore the huns and their apologists

Can I thank all the CQNers and all the other parts of the Celtic family who turned out at the City Chambers today to welcome the Thai Tims for their Civic Reception.

For me it was a fantastic event for Glasgow, the club sent a large contingent of staff as well as Izzy and Adam Mathews. The reception the Thai Tims gave the players will live long in the memory.

The kids went on to entertain everyone who came along which was thrilling and it was a mixture of tears and smiles. My daughter who had the idea of inviting the Thai Tims to the Chambers has many photos but I am not technically qualified to post them yet. I heard we were filmed by SSN, if anyone has any links or photos from today I would appreciate a pointer to where i could view them.

Paul Lennon will no doubt post his video when he gets a minute.

Can I thank our host Paul 67 and all the many others I met today I thought yesterday would be hard to beat but what a special day it was.

Word of special thanks to Reamonn’s Mum and Dad who I was delighted came along today I cant even imagine how difficult it must have been for them, but I am sure the smiles of those kids from the other side of the world paying tribute to their son must have filled them with pride.

Today is an example of why Celtic is more than a football team

  26. just got this message from my mum……………..

There`s a 90 min video that is well worth watching ,which tells the whole sorry story of how Rangers ended up £134m in debt …..

    It`s called Celtic v Inter Milan 25th may 1967

As I recall Fergie left as soon as Miller was substituted and it was then pretty clear which player he had been looking at.

  28. The SPL rules do not allow what Doncaster is suggesting.

If the SPL clubs had passed the vote today this would have been allowed, but with sanctions.

I think this move is to pressure the clubs vote for the change next week, so that they view it as Rangers get at least some punishment.

But in reality the vote would open the door.

  29. I imagine this analogy has already been used somewhere, but here goes anyway: for years they’ve been like out-of-control addicts gorging on their need to emulate Celtic. They binged & binged, then the day of reckoning came and now they need a spell in rehab.

And all they can say is no,no,no.

    Stupid huns.
