SPL stalemate leaves bare truth narrative for Rangers

643

A stalemate was one of the more positive possible outcomes from today’s SPL meeting.  Such are the layers of intimidation which have been levelled across a spectrum of football clubs, bodies and individuals in the last week, it was difficult to imagine SPL chairmen standing up for sporting integrity after Sandy Jardine’s ominous words.

Unfortunately, for the Magnificent Duff and Phelps, they will have to shred plans to blame someone else for the shambles they are, kind of, administering.  Their creative talents will be taxed to the limit to explain for another two weeks why it is in creditors interests to consume available monies while Craig Whyte has not moved an inch in 10 weeks on demands for his shares of stadium security.

The narrative of this story is also important.  Angry Ally could have blamed the SPL chairmen for Rangers imminent descent into oblivion, and demanded to know where they live, but this would have been a corruption of the truth.  Rangers will not die because of the SPL or SFA but because their own misdeeds of the last 20 years are about to catch up with them.

This will be their final narrative.  Be angry at those who administered and profited from the EBTs, no one else.

Yes agreed but whether it’s a transfer rumour, a rumour Huns going into liquidation, it happens and there’s nothing we can do about it O.G.

    From BBC website

Former SPL chief executive Roger Mitchell believes a solution will eventually be found that keeps Rangers in the top flight.

He told BBC Radio Scotland: “The clubs vote principally through self-interest and they will all have had a word with their bank managers, who will have said ‘whatever you do, make sure you still have revenue from a television deal and from Rangers fans coming through the turnstyles’.”

There you go then – personally I would pay not to have them through the turnstiles

  3. absolutely loved the GB displays, the humour and shear massiveness of the displays, all around the stadium,

how can that be topped in the future.

one wee niggling teansy weansy observation though, petty i know but i wouldnt have made craigy whyte the 4th horseman.

it should have been the queen or the pope (sorry if that offends anyone).

also we missed one wee trick to include Murray in it somehow.

i know i know, sorry for being a wee bit critical.

I think what makes us different from them is that we can admit we were in the wrong, however difficult it may be at the time, and in the long term we benefit.

They never, ever do, and we are witnessing them get their comeuppance as a result.

Let us all hope that when Rangers die, the SPL dies with it. An organisation which is as morally bankrupt as its gets.

Shameful stuff, the SPL’s only hope of survival is a call for collective greed.

If Scottish Football is to survive and the Scottish national team are ever to play in a World Cup again, the answer to Roger Mitchell & Neil Doncaster’s plea must be No!

23 sets of administrators, lets get rid of at least one set and save some money.

  6. …..on balance I think I’d rather listen to the boul’ “Pattersony” from Shortbread rather than Gary “Why Sports?” Neville………….

    He’s ‘avin a shocker…….

  7. Just listened to Doncaster interview , he can’t wait to allow the cheating tax dodgers straight back into the SPHELL with the help of the no balls chairmen of the other clubs.

If they are this keen to bend over for the Huns what chance is there that the cheats will get punished for the double contract/EBT .

Also , why have mccoist and jardine still not been asked to explain their recent comments . Neil Lennon’s legal team should also be asking why there is one law for Neil and another for others , such as Terry Butcher – All Mccoist – Stuart McCall – Kenny Shields – Craig Brown .

    googy – backed 2-1 and 3-1.

St Stivs – fair play to the GB, but I would have swapped the GBer for Minty.

    Bloody brilliant display though.

  11. does anyone know if its 2 Scottish clubs for Champions league qulaifiers NEXT SEASON ?

If it is, then it would take a ver short sighted chairman not to see the prize on offer for a 2nd place.

Any of 4 or 5 could be in line for the place.

500 extra punters per game would cover the huns lossed trips.

1 x euro qualifier against a big league team would cover the huns visits.

go a round further and the worlds your lobster to a UTD or MWELL.

I bet mad vlad is kicking himslef about his mis season wobblies with the players.

if he had stuck with it and qualified for a CL place i bet he would write off more hearts debt.

I dont believe the huns being deid is the demise of scottish football.

in a competative business environment someone all fills the void.

    cmon the rest wisen up.

I was not surprised the SPL did not take a vote.

I am surprised that MSM make no mention whatsoever about the licensing aspect. Either I have it wrong or it is a show stopper and that is being left to HMRC.

In regard to Doncaster he has a job to do and his pay will be based on commercial success, so he is compromised anyway.

But to pretend the Rangers situation is anything like precedents in England that relate to clubs properly exiting administration as opposed to liquidation, smacks of the desperation of a man to whom integrity is an alien concept.

His failure to appreciate this aspect and his misleading presentation on national radio suggests he is not fit for his job.

  14. We’ve been gettin’ stabbed in the back for years by the Scottish ‘establishment’ and their rotten ‘club’.

Why would we expect justice now.

The ‘establishment’ anywhere never show any humility, remorse or shame.

And Scotland’s ‘establishment’ take the cake.

  15. Anyone know what happened with the huns appeal against the signing sanctions imposed last week? I thought it was today.

    I could be wrong.

  16. If the SPL chairmen vote to let them back in then they will reap what they sow in the dismissal of their integrity and the desertion of their own fans. They are almost as bankrupt as RFCiA if the loss of them will lead them to ruin as well. They should be focussing on re-stabilising themselves to a brave new world without the subsidy provided by one team with a large visiting support and a lot of Sky subscribers. Bending over backwards, and alienating a large proportion of their own fans, to accommodate cheaters is not the answer.

Anybody identify why the Hun have not been carpeted for the breech of confidentiality?

  18. Doncaster came across tonight as a man with absolutely no integrity or sense of fair play. Jabba could hardly contain his excitement at what he was hearing. Sickening really.

  23. I first supported Man City in December 67. I went to Maine Road to watch Summerbee, Bell and Lee (and the rest) beat Spurs 5-1 in the snow. They were a great footballing team. I have a soft spot for them since but can’t work up the same enthusiasm these days. Mind you, I hope they win tonight. They, at least, do play in Manchester, unlike the other lot.

I hope Auld heid and the others who know the legal niceities are right and the oldco cannot simply metamorphose into some newco.
