  1. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

75 minutes only to form an assessment ….

..but I thought Dawson did well today.

Link up play and overall game awareness weren’t great but his close game looked decent.

  2. Evening all, belated seasons greetings, we’ve been away visiting family and friends in darkest, remotest Aberdeenshire for the past three days, beautiful snowy forest setting and brilliant company.

I hope you all have a a wonderful time, just reading back and some cracking and touching posts.

Excellent result today, shame about Kyogo’s injury.

Hope the remaining part of this festive season is enjoyed by all, I’m going to miss the ‘tic, however, hopefully it will help us in the second part of the season.

Paul, thank you for this amazing platform, the first forum that gave me a proper insight as to how Celtic should be reported, again, thanks.

Take care all and keep safe.

  3. It’s always tempting fate to big up a young kid after a good debut but Dawson really took my fancy, that lad played first team for Scunthorpe against Derby at the age of 16, A lot of big Clubs were tracking him but he opted for us.

Why didn’t we play him to lead the line against St. Mirren.

Unfortunately we are unlikely to see much of him for remainder of Season.

Now once more my pet hate,

Some Poster again said earlier if Huns win the League, they will pocket 40 Million.

They won’t come within an Asses roar of that figure.

The entire payment structure is online, my guesstimate would be the low 20’s, also remember if we do come second we still play European Football so with any bit of luck we could make around 10 million.

They certainly would most likely close the Financial gap but any gain on us would be much more likely to be well less than 15 million rather than anything remotely close to 40.

Obviously the best plan is for us to win the League.

  4. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

Didn’t click, but that looks quite the Sevco puff piece on the BBCScotland website.

They really are making Shortie grovel and they seem only too willing to oblige – out of control.

  5. JIMDOM on 26TH DECEMBER 2021 7:02 PM

To score three times on that abomination of a pitch was good going. St Johnstone should employ green-keepers and not farmers.

And now we pause, six behind, stiil in Europe and a bit of silver back in the house. Not too bad actually, all considered. The ultimate outcome will depend on what we do in January, and also what those across the river do

    ——–

    Jimdom – Great point.

Miles better than last season and Ange today had 18 squad players out.

He has only been here 6 months and a very rushed summer transfer window

    D :)

  6. Corkcelt

Spot on – – I think qualifying for the group stage is about £15m thereafter it’s result based.

  7. Don’t Sell Kyogo,

    Furuhashi Kyogo,

I just don’t think you Understand,

    For if you sell Kyogo………

I see the Scottish Sun were linking him without any foundation last week to Liverpool, not long after Ange saying that our Japanese Bhoy & Celtic are a Perfect match.

  8. prestonpans bhoys on

    Gene

Corkcelt put a good arithmetical piece a day or so on this, smsm pish.

On other news apparently Boyd on Sky said it was embarrassing the the top league pulled a winter break while the rest of the leagues chuck on.

    Happens every year monster munch😕😵

  9. From the BBc Site:

    “What did we learn?

All you have to do is cast your eyes to Wednesday to see the difference in squad depth between Rangers and nearest challengers Celtic.

Celtic’s lack of options saw them drop two points in Paisley, while Van Bronckhorst’s long list of attacking talent allowed him to blow away Goodwin’s side early.”

Celtic have a ridiculous number of players out but the BBC thinks that somehow means the Huns have far greater depth than we have? Hunbelievable

  10. No keeper in the world would have saved that header.

Ridiculous to slaughter any player for a poor pass on that Tattie field.Especially when the rest of his performance was good.

Even a win and great footballing display, some of the one touch stuff, brilliant, not good enough for some.

  11. DeeLighted about our Davie Hay… Today.

I loved Josip’s contributions on Wednesday and Today.

Liel, Dangerous and just a Youngster.

As Ange said, it was the old heids that steered us to victory Today. A Massive Jack McGinn.

Win the lot of the remaining Trophies Club Celtic of Glasgow.

    Today was MASSIVE.

    Now Hunt the Rabids down.

It’s always better winning from a losing position. We shouldnae be here, but we are.

  12. Watching Sportscene for my sins, but glad I did.Leigh Griffith’s 35 yard Exocet was priceless. The young guy Glass scored a fantastic solo in the Dundee U game.

Referees.Column not knowing you need two men between you and the goal to be onside.

A straight Red for Goldson in their game, mentioned in the commentary, but not in the studio.Saints player through on goal, brought down from behind.

  13. The Battered Bunnet on

Merry Christmas to the many splendid CQNers

    Champions League dough…

As I understand it, there are 4 criteria for UEFA distributions:

(all numbers approx +/- exchange rates)

    Participation – £15 million

Performance – £1M per group stage point, £10-15 Million per knockout round

Coefficient – Based on historic results for each participant on a sliding scale from £34M to £1M. On a low ball, probably £6-12 million for Scottish clubs

TV Pool – Yet TBD for Scottish clubs in the new deal but likely in the order of £6-8 million

Assume 6 points in the group and therefore knocked out gives £15+6+ (say) 9 + (say) 7 million = £37 Million from UEFA, plus gate money etc gives maybe £45 million in rounded fag packet figures.

    Hope that’s helpful

  14. Gene correct around 15 million for qualification, there is also a Co-efficient Pot & a National Pot where you are guaranteed some dosh.

I reckon the Huns would be close to last in Co-efficient Pot so maybe less than 2 million.

The National Pot is harder to quantify, think the entire Pot is around 250 million, it first of all depends on how many different Associations are represented & then the TV Market Share of each Country.

I’m hazarding a guess of circa 6 million there, which gives me about 23 million, they would need a few wins in the Group Stage to build on that,

  15. NIR Biton, majestic today.Tom Rogic, stopping to give him an ovation for some of those passes.Mc Carthy ,very good game, the Wizard, brilliant.

  16. TBB I don’t see them getting 6 points in a Champions League Group.

I don’t understand your Co-Efficiency Rating Share out at all, there are 32 Teams the lowest Co-Efficient will receive 1,137 million.

Surely the Huns will be close to the bottom there , How are you getting 6 to 12 million there.

  17. TBB and Corkcelt, two fine fellows whom I rate highly offer different opinions on Champons` League money.

If we win the League, I hope TBB is correct; if they win it, then I`ll be rooting for Corkcelt :-))

Horribly Partial and you know the CELTIC JUGGERNAUT cannae be stopped.

Why So serious about no Celts on the Panel.

Keep beating the 13 men Domestically Celtic.

Hopefully we will start doing things in Europe again, especially if we Win this Inaugural Cup.

  19. J. Our biggest differential is the Co-Efficient Pot, it is based on a Clubs Co-efficient over past 10 years the Huns were out of Europe for most of that time I was assuming they would be close to bottom of 32 Clubs there was giving them 2nd from bottom 2 million, TBB was giving them 9 million there.

If the Huns do win the League we do get a run in the Qualifiers, so there is a possibility that we could join them in the Group Stages in which case they would gain no Financial Advantage at all.

However I do agree best thing is just win the League & end all speculation.

I don’t think us or the huns would be getting 6 points at the CL group stage

As succinct a sentence you could find👌👍👏👏👏

  21. From BBC report …

A rare venture forward for the visitors resulted in Alan Power slipping in striker Curtis Main, who was chopped down by Connor Goldson on the edge of the box.

Some visiting players screamed for a red card, but the Rangers defender was shown yellow by referee Steven McLean.

I don’t think us or the huns would be getting 6 points at the CL group stage

    ……………………………………………………………………………………..

The Shop is closed to small Nations. Ajax peaked and I really wanted them to go and win the CL. That would have only brought in harder measures to make sure the likes of AJAX (low TV audience) dinnae dae that again. IMO.

  23. The Huns are currently 42nd in rankings, we are 46th, I expect the Huns to lose twice to Borussia Dortmund, So IMO they are going to recede from that position, If we get through knock out round, its 2 pts for a win & 1 for a draw, we would need to pick up 5 pts to pass them out.

  24. The sooner we Stop testing Everything the better.

    Testing is Cultivating Lockdowns.

    Omicron is basically a Cold.

    Keep testing to Tyranny.

CC I may have been that guy

The £40m number is thrown around as CL Group stage football historically to Celtic was mentioned at £40m

    Let’s assume its not £40m – let’s assume it £20 as you mentioned (I think it’s more)

Anyway the point is if the Huns win the league they will earn a lot more money than if they do not win the league

As they are short of money I make a wild assumption and suggest if would be better for us if they did not win the league

The team that wins the league will have a better negotiating position to attract footballers both financially and playing group stage CL football

With those (potentially) better players they increase the chances of dominating in Scotland

The £40m number is not the issue – the potential to dominate for a good few years is the issue because for the first time (I think ever) you are guaranteed CL Group stage football

We need to win the league be it £40m or £20m

    Hail Hail

Make no mistake about it, I want us to win the League and I think we can do it.

However right now they have the Indian sign over us in the head to heads,

For years we were going into these games expecting to win, now they expect to win & we hope to win.

We have to reverse that process, we simply need to beat them next time out, do that and I think we will win League.

The point I was trying to make re the Financial Advantage the Huns would gain on us if they did win is not as clear cut as people are making out, there are big variables including how much money we ourselves would make if we were competing in Qualifiers as League Runners up.

I accept the automatic qualification is a huge carrot, we need a good Window & a victory in next Derby.

  27. bamboo,

I thought Liam played excellent Today.

Ange gets a Tune out of Every Celtic Player. Barkas was excellent when he was presented with the ball on that pitch and his footwork was EXCELLENT.

The Bhoy done well all things considering.

I Noticed Ange disnae want Barkas @ Celtic. :)

  28. CORKCELT on 26TH DECEMBER 2021 9:56 PM

I favour your lowball assessment of Sevco’s potential CL windfall should they manage to bite and cheat their way to this season’s title. One wee point of information on your analysis

though. When you state that “The Huns are currently 42nd in rankings, we are 46th…”, you are referring to the current 5 year coefficients that are used to determine seedings. The CL coefficient payments are based on the 10 year avarages, where we lie 36th to their 74th. Their coefficient was low enough to make them 26th of 32 in this year’s EL, so they’re not, as you state, going to make much from that route.

  29. corkcelt,

I’d Love Roy to join Ange’s backroom team.

I’m probably getting too old now.

Roy Keane is who I’d want joining Ange as we run amok….. doing things in Europe.
