Strong message from Supporters Association

926

Running late today…….

The Celtic Supporters Association are in their seventh decade so have seen it all before, albeit the matters the felt necessary to comment on today are uncommon in modern times.  After their AGM yesterday they issued the following statement:

“We do not condone in any circumstances the letting off of smoke devices of any kind, the dangers to the health of our supporters should at all times be paramount in everybody’s thoughts. We have quite a number of members who are of the senior variety, and the dangers to anyone with respiratory problems are greatly increased by coming into contact with smoke.

We also do not condone the use of pyrotechnics of any kind; again the dangers to our own supporter’s health should be paramount at all times.

Finally, the deliberate damaging of property within any stadium is not acceptable, and leaves a stain on the great reputation of the Celtic Support. The seats that were broken at Fir Park was blatant vandalism; nothing else.”

I share Association president Joe O’Rourke’s hope that this is a watershed moment for the support, but most of us know at least one person who thrives on chaos and notoriety.   We need as many strong voices to step forward as possible, someone with experience of putting genies back in bottles would be handy too.

Many thanks to those who participated in our Cinc Senti’s auction, which closed yesterday, raising £102 for charity.  More on where the money will be going later in the week……..

“Yes those were the days, when you didn’t reach for your laptop, phone or tablet or whatever to see what you had missed in terms of things Celtic. Those days when, unless you were from east Kilbride, you had no idea what the eather was like there— and to be honest, you had absolutely no interest in finding out!….. Back to the days when you had never heard of Kojo and his way of speaking or writing, when no one had ever Brattbakkedinanager, would recognise a cash strapped scrofulous hillbilly outside Beverley Hills, and the only Battered Bunnet you knew of belonged to your Grandad.”

I didnt think my argument was as cryptic as you seem to make out, section 111 is being disbanded full stop, they might indeed get back in but section 111 will no longer be what it was, whats so hard about that, good grief, you just dont get it do you ?

No idea whether the culprits are GB or not …..however , we have no place for neds in our club

GB should identify the miscreants ( if they can ) and have them brought to book .. That would go a long way to adding substance to their statement

I’m not sure that I’d agree that the whole thing was planned. However, the policing, in allowing the Motherwell casuals to walk away and subsequently attack the Celtic support, is bizarre and negligent in the extreme.

The police and stewards will not act on incidents inside football stadia these days because it’s much easier to sit in the comfort of an office and pick people out through CCTV.

    HT,

Establishments use of agent provocateurs will not be confined to serious crime, in fact its proven strategy when it comes to football. The current OB laws are in need of such a strategy to justify its continuation, where better to use such a strategy then against an alredy hated minority, as I’ve said quite a few times recently our paranoia has in fact turned out to be the most acute moral compass in the country.

I can see the Dons fans ending the season with another- “Your silence is deafening banner”

It suits our board to bend over and take whatever the SFA want to give them- and pesky organised groups just make that a little more difficult

  20. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Oscar Knox, MacKenzie Furniss and anyone else who fights Neuroblastoma on

    Good Evening.

First of all, please so not buy the lazy journalism shown by the BBC and others tonight. No fans have been banned– the statement says that there have been 128 precautionary suspensions and that in addition 250 fans will be reallocated seats within the stadium or given a refund.

I might just find myself being in the position of disagreeing with the role of everyone in this affair but that is nothing knew.

I believe it is time for a calm and analytical head,

First, I am going to presume that the 128 has been decided upon as the number of people who had tickets for the area where the damage took place. They would be the first suspects for anyone looking to find out who caused the damage.

A review of the available TV and CCTV footage will provide the best evidence as to who was in the area, this should be the primary evidence and if it shows people who marry up to the registered ticket holders then they are bang to rights.

Obviously, if a significant number of those identified also happen to be members of the Green Brigade or people who have seats in section 111 of Celtic park then the Green Brigade are vulnerable to the charge that it was their members.

Equally, Celtic have a fairly long record of seat breakages in section 111 and they can identify whose seat at Paradise has been broken in the past.

If they find someone who has had a record of broken seats at Celtic park and who subsequently bought a seat which was affected by Friday night’s trouble — is it reasonable to assume that there is a pattern forming?

From early on during the game on Friday there were fans reporting broken seats but who were stressing that the damage was not being carried by the Green Brigade. These witnesses should also be spoken to so as to ensure that the innocent are not wrongly accused.

All of this takes away from the performance on the field

N.C.L.H.E. Never question your betters as they have learned to smile as they kill. What are you talking about when did the board last kill someone ? however,a wayward flare could well kill remember the Bradford fire ? I am afraid it is you who just doesn’t get it the board have said they will investigate the128 and if they are not guilty they will be allowed back that in my book is fair the board are breaking up section 111 after issuing many warnings so how you find the board unreasonable I have no idea. I find your argument like so many antiboard apoligists everything is there fault and I not open to any other view. H.H.

  24. The utter stupidity of the Clearasil Republicans that are the GB never ceases to amaze me. They have a huge canvas to work on and they end up playing straight into the hands of the TFOD / Burns Club bores / Wee Eck booster club who currently make up the (East of) Scotland Establishment.

Tip for any that are lurking — please be very wary of the radicals who want you to go further and further with your anti EUFA / anti mainstream behaviour.

You will know who these radicals are:

They have short hair and have box sets of “Dixon of Dock Green”.

They will drive fast cars and will have endless arguments over who was best —

Not AB vs FF but The Sweeney vs The Professionals.

They have more disposable income than you would expect for itinerant labourers.

They are ones who get all the burds / blokes.

They disappear for days on end and return more radical than before with new great ideas.

The fact that these great new ideas seem per-packed to give the Scum a headline is something that troubles you but no danger pyro on the park is the future.

What I find astonishing is keevis blatently lieing on the radio tonight, the well fans didn’t cause any damage at New Douglas last week, even after his paper did a wee story on it.

As has been said earlier, thay are lieing to our face cos they can get away with it, nobody is willing to stand up to them.

We as a club will be lucky to get a seat on the bus, never mind the back of it.

Re the GB, I don’t know any of the inner goings on between them and the club, but I do believe PL has given them the rope, and they duly obliged.

It’s been on the cards for some time, maybe it’s what they wanted, who knows, quite saddened by the whole affair.

“To those who could look behind the facade at Celtic, it was clear that the chairman, Desmond White, who had succeeded Robert Kelly in 1976 was simply using the club as a licence to print money. The dedicated, captive support would fill the terraces and White would cream off the profits. Celtic have always had marvellous supporters, real lovers of football, people who live for the game. It means that if the club’s board are of a cynical bent the good faith of these people can be exploited mercilessly”. “Everything was done on the cheap” adds McNeill “it was murder.” – McColl
