Stunning notice of intent from Celtic

77

Michael Nicholson’s first day as chief executive during a transfer window is tomorrow, but he has got off to a flier by announcing the signing of three Japanese players, confirmed today.  Full internationals, Daizen Maeda (striker) and Yosuke Ideguchi (central mid), and youth international Reo Hatate (left back), will arrive in Scotland in the next few days and will be ready for the return of Premiership action on 17 January.

This is a stunning notice of intent.  We have never seen Celtic act with this speed in a transfer window.  We want our title back!  It also lets others with designs on winning the league know what a solvent team with purpose can achieve.

The moves will  help Kyogo Furuhashi, who is still getting to grips with the native lingo.  He will now live and work in a Japanese community.

The only problem for the chief exec is how to follow this tomorrow?  No pressure now, Michael.

I will publish a State of the Club report later this afternoon.  Spoiler alert, it will not be as optimistic as this article.

  1. Burnley78 – From previous thread I might have jumped the gun with Meada international career. Apologies.

    Very funny. Made me laugh

    No worries

I blame PL he should have ensured we signed more current Japan and Aussie internationals to get that Feb 2nd game postponed. 😂

  7. If Nicholson is a PL puppet he’s got a funny way of showing it. Never in a million years would Pedro have acted with such haste.

  8. It’s great that he is not just picking those he knows well. He is picking talent in their prime / approaching their prime also.

I’m particularly excited about seeing Hatate, his video clips look great.

I’ve not caught any of Ideguchi, any thoughts on him?

    _____

From what I’ve read, he’s more of a defensive midfielder. Sounds like a very talented player, who has maybe lost his way a bit recently. If we can bring the best out in him, he might be a great signing. The other two boys have had great seasons. Just a pity we might have the international issue with the game against Sevco.

  10. Meanwhile followers of Sevco are been told that there is a 20 million buyout clause in Hagi’s contract.

    The gullibles can rest easy.

  11. Hotaru no Hikari being sung in Japan as our new players arrive in Scotland

That won’t go down well with some on here

So much to be impressed about here though.

Timing of course as it will allow a period for assimilating into their new environment and any admin which needs doing.

They really can get a few weeks to bed into the Lennoxtown environment before playing a game but can hit the ground running next week for their mini pre season as they finished at home 3 weeks ago.

Ange knows their strengths well and knows where they will fit in to the squad. These are not being bought by a random DoF from a pet agent.

They fit in areas where we are needing cover for squad depth.

They will know Ange style and are buying into it / want to be part of it.

I saw that. Hagi being urged to stay despite £20m clause.

Suggests he may want to move to me ?

  14. Ange wants players who are complete professionals. He knows all of the new signings and he knows that they will not let him down.

Alongside Jota, the Japanese 4 will give us a speed of movement that will be a joy to watch. The opposition can no longer afford to put 2-3 men on a solitary forward anymore, like they could do with Edouard last season, they won’t know where to look.

Three and a half years late and a completely avoidable and unnecessary regression but hey, at least we have got the old firm back!

Amazing that we had this genius Nicholson in the building all this time and nobody realised how good he was!

  19. WOW, our best ever January window and it’s no even January yet, superb from the club.

IMO Ange has a 100% record when it comes to transfers, we know he got Koyogo in, the rest were not down to him, again IMO, so we have to assume that these Japanese bhoys are also down to him alone, even if he gets a 30% return on them on the pitch we will do OK, they know how he works and obviously have bought into his style, and the club will do well re sales in Japan, it’s a win win all round.

    Oh and eff the huns.

  20. Have to admit to being very pleasantly shocked and surprised by the early move in the window, just hope we at last are solving some problems with this move. Well done everyone involved.

Will be very interested to see if maeda and kyogo can play in the same team.

  21. From the last thread –

Thanks Deniabhoy, I’ll give that a watch 👍🏼

You gave me a laugh about the Xmas presents mix up. I hope your mum and dad had a nice time 😂

    (3) Celtic FC do not ‘buy’ or ‘sign’ players, they ‘finally complete’ deals. The hugely dull nature of this event should be emphasised at all times by using at least one of the following terms – ‘protracted’ ‘long-running’ ‘drawn out affair’ and ‘ditherin
