Supreme Court gets to grips with Rangers Tax Case

438

I long ago promised to take nothing for granted regarding the Rangers Tax Case, as it confounded my predictions from the off, but with the matter underway today with its final arbiter, The Supreme Court, I’m prepared to go as far as to say: so far, so good.

There is a long way to go – so no one should be out celebrating a draw. The matter will not be settled by the performance of a QC on his feet, rather the finer points of law. Today has been interesting, so far, but we will hopefully be well into our next Champions League group stage games before we hear the outcome.

Alzheimer Scotland were in touch yesterday and asked me to send you this message:

celtic fans thank you (002)

I know they were enormously appreciative that Billy McNeill’s family decided to go public with his situation two weeks ago. The encouragement they have had since has fortified their efforts. Your donation of £3264 blew them away.

Thank you.

Bada Bing, it is. Hard to beleve its nearly seventeen years since the Sopranos was first shown .

So what is it with our 2nd team that fixtures are hidden, postponed or altered?

Playing the dirty, scabby zombies next week – not happening. SFA Youth Cup semi-final v Motherwell? On a date and time that Celts won’t be there – probably.

    Yes , Pete.

Big lesson for Brendan in the Rangers game.

He came face to face with the ” culture ” AND his team didn`t turn up.

Even though we lost on Sat…..your boy Marcus was the best player on the park.

    macjay1,

As you probably know , Pete , the cup for me is an irrelevance apart from the fact that it would make my fellow Tims happy.

On the other hand , beating Rangers is not.

  7. Having watched 2 good games the past 2 nights I have to say, if we play the way we have in our past 2 games, we will be ripped to shreds in Europe. There’s a lot of better players out there than you will find against ZombieFc or St Mirren.

    Perspective.

Didn`t see too many teams getting kicked off the park or refereed by a blatant cheat.

Two draws with Man. City . Not too shabby.

    Hope springs eternal.

I think Brendan has got it all in hand.

Ross County suppory as a crowd noise is shite. There are reasons for that.

But young Marcus, as well as doing his defensive / attacking duties brilliantly, found time to turn to us – the support- to try and gee us up. Just like Riichee Brittain used to do. Did ma best Marcus…but when you’re surrounded by bairns…it’s difficult!

  10. Barney67!you need to realise any dissent from a cosy view of the world will NOT be tolerated on CQN.

    Blind happiness and acceptance only.

And of course criticising the Huns for doing what CQN does…..

    Irony……

  11. macjay1,

I was top of the mountain supping a beer and vodka @17 Celsius. Snow all around. Surreal for me anyway.

Even with cheating biased referees we are too good for the rest of our league. The points tell their own story. I had hoped Aberdeen would give us a better challenge this year, but even they drop points against the rest.

2 draws against City you say, and that’s creditable? Not for me. I want to win. I take your point though, given their budget, but Monaco ripped them a new one tonight.

We need to spend, and spend big if we want to make an impact in Europe.

  17. Alasdair MacLean on

    DD,

A’m not a football genius…but both goals we lost came from our left. Marcus is on our right. Tell him keep the head up. I was there and thought he was brilliant. East end extension.

I thought both defences tonight were vulnerable.

Man City is about budget. Winning is about more than budget.

Viz the hun. Aggression and determination in spades.

Minimum expectation for the coming season is qualification for the group stages.

Reasonable expectation , the knock out stages.

Now we have a few bickies to hopefully shore up the defence , although perhaps Simu may be the man.

I may be tempted to spend big on Paddy for a start.

Hot and cold , but young.

  20. Paddy would be a start, if he’s willing to stay. Simo seems to want away, his loss. BR is canny and ambitious, his stock is rising. We are still unbeaten and will win this league, the treble? My view, we will win, fck the mibs. Next season in the CL, is when we find out how good we really are.

  21. I digress, in Coatbridge sliding down the steps on a breedboard wiz the toboggan. Back in the day.
