On Saturday my mind wandered, as it does, to the demise of Gretna in 2008. The village team were bankrolled through the Scottish league system until promotion to the SPL in 2007 but then the cash ran out. The club went into liquidation a few weeks from the end of the season but while most of the first team squad were made redundant, a few remained on a week-to-week basis to see out the remaining league programme, assisted considerably by the SPL and Livingston FC, who made their ground available.
Should Rangers fail around the same time, I thought, how apt it would be for us to meet them in the Scottish Cup final. We would be there at the end to wave goodbye to a unique institution. Witnesses to the final whistle on a club with an enormously controversial history.
Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed by Dundee United at Ibrox yesterday, who Flushed Away the opposition and won their first game against an SPL team in 2012. We will have to scramble for tickets for the prospective event at another venue.
United seem set to try their hardest to spoil my enjoyment of the Cup. Our quarter final draw against them next month will be one of the toughest games of the season.

Probably a bit late now, but the section from Articles of Association I imagine STVGrant based his article on would be:
TRANSFER OF SHARES
11. Except where such transfer is occasioned by the promotion of an association football club from and relegation of a Club to the SFL the consent of the Board shall be required before the transfer of any Share shall be registered.
Ard Macha…see my previous post…..there’s ‘something’ afoot…!!! can just picture the whispers in the corridors…..LOL.
Missed Newsnight ( Conor not playing the game by not going to sleep tonight – good news was 2 positive Hosp appointments today!) was it anything we haven’t heard before from RTC or Phil?
Watching newsnight it occurred to me that the msm may well
push this guy too far and end up witha result they wil not like,
He may well be planning a future for rangers in some form at the moment,
but if he feels cornered and demonised he might take a F**k you attitude
and make life after insolvency difficult to pheonix from.
just a thought

Ard M….,
I’d expect if whyte was out the picture, the focus would return to Murray and his illegal practices, win win if you ask me :o)

Can’t disagree, Liverpool have spent over £100,000,000 and under KD the embodiment of great players not always making great managers, are going in circles.
Handling the Suarez affair should’ve been taken away from a golfing/football coach.
What significance the shortbread newsnight guy his big red white and blue tie?
Mark Daly in his honest certainly sure plays a mean pin ball.
He’s a pin ball Wizard.
Las ranlkers are fecked and chalky his phony mini moneyball minutae outlook por las huns…
better he flee now than suffer the outrageous exigies….a hun scorned.

The BBC2 report was perhaps interesting for those not paying attention, for me all it did was reinforce the assertions CW is not qualified to be a Director and as such the SFA should have applied more stringency in matters associated with his club.
Main comments for me were:
1.SFA STILL investigating, how long before their credibility is shot.
2.White restated Tax not down to him….CORRECT
All this digging is too shallow and too recent.
Torre Andre Flo era,now theres a starter for ten.

That article pertains to the promotion and relegation of clubs to and from the SPL with particular reference to the club being promoted meeting the SPL qualification guidelines. The article that is relevant with regards transfer of a share is Article 14. There is no other article or rule, on my reading, that would afford a transfer of one share between an old and possibly new version of the same club. My reading is that article 14 does not allow for this either but it is vague enough that it could offer the possibility via a general meeting of all non-liquidated members.

Radio silence from all Hun mates/associates….they are no longer bullish…
Anybody know Mark Daly?
thought he hand picked every word he uttered..playing it carefully, sounded certain if a little stilted.
bullets in the post for him soon…no doubts!
Follow the paper trail and the money trail, this is much messier than chust ra peepul….

It’s Article 14 (ii) that’s relevant. In particular the words ‘following the Company in General Meeting passing a Qualified Resolution’. A Qualified Resolution requires 90% of the members to pass it.
Noted Murray was not given his title during that report :o)

Hmmm… i thought we’d get a tad more than what Newsnight produced tonight.
Disappointing. Heard it already.
Can’t help but think that Minty- as has been mooted on here before – is behind the LL’s change of direction. (Let slip the dogs of war). Fall guy/patsy Criminal Craig looks to have been given a job to do and has now, in turn, been turned on.
I can’t help thinking of that line from the Aeneid – “Trust not their presents, nor admit the horse.” (I know that there are different translations but that one is most apt).
HOWEVER, due to the tremendous efforts of all on CQN i can keep those feelings of `this is too good to be true’ in check.

ranger’s newco playing at ibrox to same fans singing same songs is a non-starter because the tax man will simply go after the newco (if it looks like a dog and barks like a dog etc…)
administration is more likely it they want to keep their assets, but payback their dues, which will damage them for years to come, but they’ll keep history, as if any sane person would want to keep it
david king’s been tied up with his own non-payment of taxes and cant release his money to purchese rangers and i dont think he’d pass the fit and proper person test for owning a SPL club, do you?
no matter what happens the league needs to be reconstructed or we will continue to see falling crowds, if we lose sky because our league needs extended with only 2 old firm games a season then thats the way it has to be.
and i honestly beleive if hearts, aberdeen, dundee united or rangers were all challenging for the title with us, the stadium would be full to capacity.
its a case of change or die
Ahem,
there were two pertinent breached points of law in that BBC report.
Either one would entail a period in the slammer for Mister Whyte.
He will either sue, successfully, or he will be looking at a period of time in the slammer.
I understand that Barry Hughes has a top legal team to which he might turn.
It’s going to get messy.

Hope you’re right. This will be some kick in the stones if they are able to squirm out of this.

…… your stats are very interesting & plant a seed of doubt , I was however working in the assumption that the high profile nature of the BTC will require it to be published……. fun waiting though!

Ah Rangers – the gift that keeps giving
Fair play to the BBC they are doing the investigatory work. The even criticised Murray.
The SFA are in a difficult place here – if they act too soon they betray the club they have propped up for years. Too late and they look incompetent. So they will fudge it and delay a decision.
The police should now take up the investigation – but they wont. The SNP Police are too busy harassing Celtic fans.
Anyway – happy happy days………….

That section (14) seems to deal with a company being voted out of the SPL, while Section 11 concerns new clubs being admitted outside of the usual process of promotion/relegation. Section 14 appears to confirm that the members are directed by the Board when it comes to a new club (the transferee)
‘a Qualified Resolution that such notice should be issued by the Board and confirming the identity of the proposed transferee, transfer its Share to such other person as the Board shall direct at the price of £1 and the Club owned and operated by such Member shall forthwith cease to be a member of the League and the Club owned and operated by the transferee shall become a member of the League in its place.’
Damn, I hope the huns don’t see this. It may inadvertently allow them to pay all their bills, even the big tax one.

To us, nothing new, to 99% of the uk this is unknown.
In Scotland it has been dismissed and ignored by 99% of the meeja.
Today the meeja can no longer ignore or dismiss our Fenian rants.
It’s also becoming very clear the responsibity lies with the Hun, the sfa and the meeja :oD

‘Ahem,
there were two pertinent breached points of law in that BBC report.’
To prove perjury you have to prove (a) that the person lied on oath and (b) that the lies affected the outcome of the case. We don’t know the outcome yet (wonder if the judgement is being redrafted tonight?) so it’s maybe a bit early to know if element (b) is there.
Any hun who pays over season ticket money now deserves no sympathy.
Will shugg & co be able to talk abt it without the polis chappin thems door??

14 (ii) deals with a club going bust, and what happens to its share certificate, which is the specific scenario that we are talking about.
