Tantric Tuesday

908

After yesterday’s action-packed fast moving day in the political world that is Scottish football today has been Tantric Tuesday as Rangers administrators, Duff and Phelps, took their time and examined all areas in consultations with players over redundancies.  Gregg Wylde and Mervan Celik left the club early afternoon as the first hard consequences of years of abundant excesses manifested, leaving Duff and Phelps joint administrators locked in talks with the rest of the players.  No one can accuse them of not working for their £600 per hour per head.

I would like to be the first to congratulate Aberdeen on winning the treble in season 1992-93. An outstanding achievement.

  1. Árd Macha,

Thanks for posting that and keep them coming.

I find it a little unnerving that after so many years I still get emotional reading his writings…I had to take a walk after your post.

Hopefully Arsenal will score another couple, and be leading 5-0 going into time added on.

Then Milan get the most outrage non penalty decision, courtesy of one of their Brazilian players diving to win the award.

    Full time 5-1.

bit confused here hope someone will put me right,

why would the admin have a problem with deferring payment, does it become a secured debt, I’d have expected it to just join the list of penny in the pound brigade.

  5. Today proved beyond any other that the SPL is a not-fit-for-purpose organisation. Neil Doncaster’s appearance on Radio Scotland was the most embarrassing display of small-minded bureaucracy that would have even disgraced the proud members of the council of Stoneybridge.

My joke a couple of weeks back about Inter AC Spartak Bearsden Athletic FC hid behind it the serious point that if Inter AC Spartak Bearsden Athletic FC had the best team in Scotland, then in a fair, meritocratic structure ought to be able to compete and win the Scottish Cup.

Neil Doncaster words today displayed the contempt and lack of foresight required to take Scottish Football forward.

In Jim Traynor’s documentary last night which was mostly rehashed from countless discussions since the 1970s did contain one very useful piece of information when comparing the Scottish system with the Dutch.

The Dutch has one FA for the entire Football structure whereas Scotland has 23.

That’s 23 sets of Neil Doncaster and his lackeys. 23 sets of arguments whenever a proposal, good, bad or indifferent is put forward. That isn’t even to say that within each of those 23 FA’s you also have competing interests.

Is it any wonder that Scotland problems on the pitch continue.

Neil Doncaster proved tonight that both he and his organisation will not assist in getting Scottish Football going again.

The very idea that a club liquidated can re-assume its position into the league without penalty is a scandal. In fact its worse. Effectively it places the SPL on a level with professional wrestling which of course means that if there is no fair competition then the idea of betting on SPL matches must also be called into question.

Neil Doncaster’s very short-sighted view that TV money is the be-all and end all for Football is rather stupidly misplaced, it is gambling that provides SKY and ESPN with the money. Any attempts to tamper with the integrity of the SPL will reduce people’s willingness to part with their hard earned money and that is what would kill football in Scotland not whether SKY do or don’t broadcast.

If the SPLs rules state that a liquidated company can be reinstated without penalty then for the sake of Scottish Football’s integrity, that rule or rules must be changed and quickly.

  7. I’ve sort of rollercoasted on the notion of a newco – well not so much the thought of a newco – more the path it takes.

If they are just allowed into the SPL? And that’s basically, intrinsically what we are saying here – ‘just allowed’

If they are just allowed back in well I truly feel a bit of the hope, a bit of the natural optimism I hold dear in myself will die or wither.

It’s just plain morally wrong. There’s no worthy arument to support it. There’s a line from SE7EN along the lines of – I don’t think you’re saying that because you believe it. I think you’re saying it because you want to believe it…

And those sort of lines are now pouring out of every mouthpiece they can find. But they’re also now coming out of the mouth’s of people like Doncaster.

Either that or deafening silence from the SFA.

We might as well let car thieves keep the cars…

Deferred wages a high risk option. There would be no guarantee that they would have the money come the deferment date. Another point they have and stating the obvious, they have a cash flow problem.

    They would not preferred creditors.

  12. Just had a wild thought. Regan and Doncaster might both be part of Minty’s grand plan. Two relatively recent additions to the main football bodies in Scotland. Where did they come from and how did they get the job? A conspiracy theory too far? Yeah, probably!

  13. With all the nonsense being spouted about how the SPL needs them to survive financially, why don’t we simply say that we will contribute not one thin dime to the coffers of any club who votes to allow them back in? It will mean in effect a boycott but I’m sure those clubs would prefer the monies that the bankrupt lot will bring them.

They have cheated and will go on cheating til the cows come home, because the others are prepared to let them.

  14. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    lennybhoy,

cheers, so the sticking point is when the deferment date matures

  15. Agent Craig "Green and" Whyte!! on

All this talk of der huns and their cheating for going on 20 years, not to mention their 11 men behind the ball hoping for penalties or FK’s around the box to steal an undeserved win.

Thank goodness for games like Arsenal v Milan to show us a game of football, beyond anything any hun team has ever done.

Remember their Euro win was in the cup winners cup, the diddy euro trophy, even winning the eufa cup back then was a bigger achievement.

    Football and der huns.

    Has football ever needed them?

Another day of talks and another day of costs adding up while the administrators fiddle. Rangers supporters must be tearing their hair out. All this havering over the few games that are left. ho hum

  18. There is a lot of “concurrent noise” at the moment.

Yesterday, Doncaster announced an SPL inquiry into RFCIA, today he’s talking about the fate of a hypothetical Newco.

The inquiry isn’t hypothetical, it will happen. RFCIA will be severely punished, possibly (hpefully) losing their ill-gained titles. If Ogilvie is called up during the inquiry, more stuff will come out.

Let’s take it from there, lhads, eh?

The Newco talk is waffle for the moment.

imagine the look on their faces when they are asked, while they are looking for a bible to lie through :o)

  24. Not really, it is do to their ability to pay. What I mean is, they cannot give any guarantee that will ever be able to pay given their lack of cash. If they deferred to 31st May or 1st July will they have the money then to pay! In their present predicament highly unlikely.

If the day came any player would have grounds to sue for breach of contract. Not sure how that would work but assume it would be against the Administrators. Also as I have posted by renegotiating contracts in any shape or form now, could be constructive breach of contract.

    Keep the Faith!
