Tantric Tuesday

908

After yesterday’s action-packed fast moving day in the political world that is Scottish football today has been Tantric Tuesday as Rangers administrators, Duff and Phelps, took their time and examined all areas in consultations with players over redundancies.  Gregg Wylde and Mervan Celik left the club early afternoon as the first hard consequences of years of abundant excesses manifested, leaving Duff and Phelps joint administrators locked in talks with the rest of the players.  No one can accuse them of not working for their £600 per hour per head.

I would like to be the first to congratulate Aberdeen on winning the treble in season 1992-93. An outstanding achievement.

  1. This admin might take as long as Whyte’s due diligence. Then again, it might be completed in 48 hours.

  2. Neil canamalar Lennon,

No. All wages incurred by retained employees since the Administrators were appointed, up to and including today, have preferential status (as the Administrators are deemed to have adopted the retained employees contracts by not having terminated them).

The Administrators could still turn round tomorrow and terminate an employees contract. In that event, the employee would have preferential status for their accrued wage, i.e those incurred until today, and could also claim for unfair dismissal (although the unfair dismissal claim, even if successful, would not be preferred and would rank at the bottom of the creditor pile).

In other words, for every day the Administrator delays terminating contracts, the “pot” available to unsecured creditors is being eroded.

  3. @orourke3: I think there needs to be some clarifications on the SPL rules for a Newco, looks like Neil Doncster is making it up as he goes along.

    Invercelt,

what does it have to do with communism.

Nothing to do with Celtic, unlike the SNP’s overt sectarian racist attituse toward Celtic and its support.

What it does affect is everyone on the planet, as it spells an economic war between the USA and China, it potentially could lead to more than an economic face off.

holding out!!!! you are the administrators……grow a pair and bump them

  10. The Honest Cover-up on

These “negotiations” are an absolute farce. The administrator has now spoke of his “disappointment” that a deal could not be reached tonight and discussions will continue tomorrow.

Are they trying to broker a peace deal in the Middle East or are they trying to slash £1m a month from the wage bill?!

No discussions, it should be a case of “You, you, you….in here. Sorry, we’ll have to let you go in order to keep the company alive”. Not nice, but that’s what’s required.

I would be amazed if its any of the ‘domestic’ huns holding up the process – but who knows?

My money would have been on two or three of the Johnny Foreigner types – anybody got the inside scoop?

  13. There is a statement by administrator David Whitehouse on the Rangers website: “Today has been a very frustrating day. Earlier in the day, we believed we had agreed in principle a basis of cost-cutting measures with the players accepting substantial pay cuts and we are very grateful for their efforts in reaching that point.

“Sadly this evening we have been unable to reach agreement on the personal conditions sought by the advisors to the players in respect of those wage cuts.

“There is still some hope these issues can be resolved first thing in the morning but it is extremely disappointing we haven’t been able to get there tonight.”
