Tantric Tuesday

908

After yesterday’s action-packed fast moving day in the political world that is Scottish football today has been Tantric Tuesday as Rangers administrators, Duff and Phelps, took their time and examined all areas in consultations with players over redundancies.  Gregg Wylde and Mervan Celik left the club early afternoon as the first hard consequences of years of abundant excesses manifested, leaving Duff and Phelps joint administrators locked in talks with the rest of the players.  No one can accuse them of not working for their £600 per hour per head.

I would like to be the first to congratulate Aberdeen on winning the treble in season 1992-93. An outstanding achievement.

  1. In relation to earlier posts regarding the issue of wage deferrals, by failing to terminate the contracts of employees within 14 days of the Administrator’s appointment, the retained employees have been elevated to preferential creditor status. Their wages incurred during the administration will be paid out.

Only creditors who have fixed security over assets are entitled to be paid out before them. The retained employees wages will also rank ahead of the floating charge holder’s entitlement. By deferring wages, those employees would still be entitled to be paid out first when it comes to the Administrator realising assets.

Separately, in relation to any newco, at what point will the MSM bring up the case of Farsley Celtic, now re-born as AFC Farsley (without the “Celtic” as a result of HMRC). What would the newco be called?

I read somewhere that if Them get stripped of titles, Aberdeen have won a treble somewhere down the line. Is that right? Don’t remember them even being close since the 80s.

If you get on SSB tomorrow night, ask Andy Goram what the difference is between a people carrier and Bily Wright?!

  5. In time other clubs will fall in the SPL but will they be given the same considerations from the administrators and the media as Rangers have.

Howmany monkey’s have been on the SPL board since its inception, filled in that link to the spl and was going to ask if questioning monkey’s who served on the spl board be first for questioning.

I haven´t had the chance to read all the tributes to Paul McBride on the blog yet. I echo your words about his passing away. I am still numb. Apart from his many other participations to civil society, in my opinion Paul was second to none as an erudite commentator on the problems surrounding the scottish game and I will never forget the verbal dressing down he gave the SFA blazers over dougiegate. That was probably when the camel´s back snapped, along with the Dallas email, when the power of reasoned argument from the likes of Paul, non existent in the tartan media, won the day. Let´s hope he has left a legacy in his wake. Thanks Paul.

  9. Boys I’m seriously struggling here to get my head round this.

You cheat and break the rules yet the governing body and the media are trying to bend the rules to keep a newco in the SPL, you ever heard anything like this in yer life.

Rules are Rules and if the SPL try and bend these rules then something has to be done.

  10. Why are Rangers FC bothered at all about having their best players on board at the end of this season?

They are out of both cups, slipping down the league, and banned from Euro qualification unless the people that bid £9m for Jelavic come in with a £100m offer for the club.

Why do they want to be paying these big earners for a further 3 months? Of course, they may get a transfer fee for McGregor, Davis & Naismith (if he can pass a medical) but no one else will fetch over £1m.

Once these players are on reduced wages (deferred payments are not on) then surely their existing contracts are void. Would they have to sign new contracts to reflect their newly cut wages? If so, they will all negotiate a Bosman in June or a much reduced transfer fee for Rangers in Administration. Where’s the financial sense in that?

Unless, they are hoping that this Bosman/ reduced transfer fee group are going to sign en masse for Newco FC, where is the advantage to Rangers in all this?

If you judged human psychology from the behaviour of all involved at Ibrox, you’d get a pretty warped theory of Human Instinct. Ayn Rand would struggle to determine the self-interest principle at work.

I’ve always been conflicted as to whether there was a difficult to discern plan of genius in the way Rangers takeover was orchestrated. I am quickly arriving at the view that they are playing an elaborate game which is a mixture of Twister and Double Indemnity, where several miscreants are each using both hands to point out two other parties they consider to be the ones to blame. They are hoping that the authorities are just going to throw their hands in the air and say it is too difficult to unravel all of this…….

so they will just dock every club 20 points to let that be a lesson to you all.

  14. Good stuff from Hibs then, powerfull word is integrity…..

    Petrie fears for SPL ‘integrity’

Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie believes administration-hit Rangers could compromise the “sporting integrity” of the SPL this season.

The Ibrox club are battling to stay afloat with administrators Duff and Phelps looking to cut £1million per month from the budget.

To that end, some players could be leaving amid ongoing talks and Gregg Wylde and Mervan Celik have reportedly volunteered to walk away.

During tonight’s BBC Scotland programme, Scottish Football: The Debate, Petrie said: “Scottish football needs successful clubs who are well-managed.

“There are a lot of clubs in the SPL who have taken their own share of pain and have budgets and who have adhered to their budgets.

“The thing that needs to be maintained right throughout is sporting integrity.

“We need to ensure that the competition is fair.

“Each club has its own budgets and its own resources. If you have a plan and can finance it then fine.

“The important thing is sporting integrity and we have to make sure that the competition is balanced and fair.

“We are going to see Rangers continue to play with a depleted squad against clubs who they played against earlier in the season when they had a stronger squad.

“We need to make sure the fixtures are fulfilled and it is a fair and balanced competition.”

Rangers face Dundee United, Celtic, Motherwell and St Mirren before the league splits into two.

  15. Neil canamalar @21.44,

I can see that your post would be relevant for Communist re-foundation, but what has it to do with Celtic?

On legacy of Paul McBride, I agree entirely. I have also noticed that Celtic have kept quiet in these last few days in the face of the mobilizing of all things Rangers.

Oh, for Gawd’s sake! Another day of delaying the inevitable because a deal can’t be reached with the players?

I don’t remember the administrators of Dundee, or Portsmouth, or Bradford City, or Leeds United, or Gretna, or Clydebank, or Chester City, or Aldershot, spending 22 days (on £600 per hour) doing nothing except haggle with players over an ‘acceptable deal’.

Acceptable to whom? The players? And there was me thinking administrators were there solely to get what they can for the creditors.

Duff & Phelps’ conduct of this business needs a good scrutinising.

I have never seen an administration conducted like this.
