The last minute goal fell Celtic’s way at the weekend but Wednesday’s opponents, Ajax, were on the receiving end of the sucker punch, losing to a last minute goal at home to Vitesse, just a week after a goalless draw at home to joint bottom Waalwijk. The Dutch champion’s only win in their last five games was at home to lower league opposition six days ago.
So what does this mean for Celtic? It means Ajax have found various ways not to approach the Celtic game. The last thing teams need ahead of a crucial game is an easy or flattering result, far better to show up your mistakes.
If Celtic take the lead, we might find Ajax confidence sinks rapidly, but they will approach the game full of focus, dangerous and with a point to prove.
It’s Christmas time…….
The Celtic FC Foundation (new name for Celtic Charity) Christmas Appeal has been launched. The 125 Anniversary activities have considerably reenergised the Celtic Movement in getting back to where is all started – looking after those in need.
The Christmas Appeal aims to provide 150 local families who would otherwise go without, a Christmas meal, with gifts for younger kids.
The Celtic support will be helping people through Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, the Glasgow Simon Community, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission and Lodging House Mission.
Details of how to help online, and in person, are available here.
Offensive Behaviour Act
Scottish Parliament Justice Committee convenor, Christine Grahame, has agreed to discuss an Early Review of the Act on the agenda for tomorrow’s Justice Committee meeting. Three members of the Committee are already committed to a Review, details on how to contact others on the committee – it has to be today, they meet tomorrow – are available here, on the Trust website.

Hun skelper,
Actually, it is, you tried to convince people how much they’d enjoy it.
Old firm supporter in my book
Is this what most Celtic supporters really think:
1. Rangers died;
2. The MSSM quickly pretended the Company died but the Club lived on;
3. The MSSM now treat the new team 100% as being Rangers;
4. This “Rangers” will soon be in the top division;
5. The ” Old Firm” will be resurrected;
6. Celtic FC will go along with the “return” of “Rangers”;
7. Some Celtic supporters will stop going to games;
8. In about ten years, it will be as though Liquidation never happened.

The current Ibrox Club goes bust, Ibrox is demolished and Celtic play in another League?
JJ
SFTB,
Not disagreeing with your well considered piece however,
The fact that Sevco are in the state they are and are unlikely to be much better anytime soon,IMO, does I believe, make it highly unlikely that they will return to being our rivals in the SPFL.
That being the case then surely it is better for all concerned, if the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee United continue their development to approach their 1980’s status.
I have stated on here before that Sevco crave our recognition. Our most powerful weapon regarding them is to refuse to recognise them as our rivals. Just because the former team that played at the Bigotdome were our rivals doesn’t mean a third division Sevco are.

I said in my original post, that sparked the reaction, that if we were waiting for a competitive edge to coincide with their first appearance in the top division, we would wait a long time.
When they come back, they will splurge some cash they can ill afford but they will still be a bit off our standard. However it does not take a lot of cash to rival Motherwell or Aberdeen for 2nd place and that may be enough to appease them as they nurse their wrath for a few years before they demand a league title win.
I would still prefer two things to happen:-
1) We get out of the Scottish Premiership before they get there
or
2) They are declared legally dead and whatever tribute club remains is officially recorded as new. Then I can continue to support our club, even against their new entity, with a clear conscience

OF supporter aye right you are, so when we beat sevco if we every meet them this place will not be rocking and it will be a run of the mill victory ?
Why is every story about sevco commented on cut and paste every thing mccoist,green,whyte king say why is there money troubles plastered all over CQN ?
Why is Aberdeen,hearts,hibs and the rest of the clubs not commented on ?
Re the article -there is a parallel with ajax, that it is indifferent domestic form. Ok we are unbeaten but we are not showing any decent form. We are certainly not creating chances or converting them when we do. Hopefully we will rise to the occassion on wednesday -and ajax won’t.
Our home game on the 23rd should be tasty.

Thanks. This place is still celebrating the Red Sox victory.
Just had Celtic soup followed by a gourmet main course and followed by that famous dessert. Jelly and ice cream at Chez Johann
SFTB,
Likewise I would accept either, or indeed both, of your two options.

Cant believe I never thought of that.
hun skelper
because if we don’t no-one else will -certainly not the msm. However we do tend to be too focused on them at times. This being a further example.

“Why is Aberdeen,hearts,hibs and the rest of the clubs not commented on ?”
In the cases of Hibs and Hearts, it is because they offer no threat at all. If Aberdeen beat us in our next (?) Home league game, I would think quite a few comments will be made. Nevertheless,as you suggest, it is pointless for people to say “They” are dead then display the same hatred for the new “them”.

Malorbhoy.
Enjoy yourself, bring back a good result and I’ll get you a drink next time I see you, If the result is bad,don’t bother coming back, who is looking after who, keep an eye out for Johann, I want him back in one piece.

My final comment before departing for the night.
Since Rangers ceased to be our rivals, my passion at games has diminished.

” And yet, if our Board have messed things up or are about to, by being guilty of more than just opposing the Resolution, then we will be forced into just such a choice. The dilemma is there- continue supporting and accept the game is corrupt or get out of dodge.”
That sums it up nicely. A testing time ahead for everyone.

Great team goal by the Dandy Dons. Nice finish Niall.
It is about time the Dons came to prominence again.

It is a complex picture.
The view of Estadio Nacional is at one end. He believes that we all know Rangers died so it does not matter what authorities say, we should just laugh at them and go on believing what we know to be true.
I cannot go along with that, though I understand the view. I want official recognition from the Authorities that the game is fair. I do not care what former Rangers fans think as i have no wish to get into a slanging match with them. I do want the authorities to man up and say that the current club playing out of Ibrox are a new club with no history.
After that has been resolved, I will form a new view of them.
If they remain as the focus for the same bigoted behaviour as before and, if they are a competitive threat, they will, by default, replace the old dead Rangers as our new rival.
If, in the unlikely invent that they, either, reinvent themselves as cuddly and non-bigoted or, if they remain an uncompetitive force in the lower reaches of football, they will be displaced by another rivalry.
I hope that they are declared a new club and I hope that some club, perhaps theirs, will emerge to rival us again, if we must remain in Scotland.
Both of these things must apply however. I am not prepared to resume rivalry with an officially backed pretense.
