The land of registration anarchy

796

So how about this scenario, Celtic Youths are trailing in their league with 10 games to go when they register three new players, but someone’s ‘at it’.  The players are all over-age but the date of birth on their registration forms have been incorrectly completed, so the players are registered and become eligible to play the remaining games.  Celtic Youths win their remaining games and win the league.

At the end of the season the deception is uncovered.  The people responsible for filling the forms out incorrectly are criticised but one is president of the Scottish Football Association, who give evidence to an inquiry that as the Association registered the players, the results must stand.

Time to “draw a line under it” is the line from the SFA chief executive, hoping with all his might that no one mentions the Scottish Youth Cup games the players also played in, which would invoke a parallel punishment to the one recently imposed on Spartans Youths for exactly the same offence in the same competition.  The chief exec also dismisses attempts to call those criticised by the inquiry to account as scapegoating.

Ridiculous?  Of course, but this is what we’ve just experienced, with another club, of course.

Challenging the verdict, if possible, is a worthwhile endeavour but it will only treat one symptom of the many issues facing Scottish Premier League clubs, who could be forgiven for losing the will to compete within the rules.  Fans of several SPL clubs now believe their best interests are served by playing in an environment beyond Scotland – for a whole range of reasons.

We have to work with fans of other clubs to make the case for the SPL, as a unit, to leave Scottish football (I see cross-club initiatives are already underway).

On a completely unrelated question, if you had £21m in the bank late last year, and you were burning cash at £1m per month, which year would you run out of money?

  3. Doc,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mate. Tragic for anyone to go at such a young age. Thoughts are with you my friend.

  4. I think we’re all just going to have to be happy with the fact that Sevco had to start in the bottom tier, which is better than nothing, or them being allowed straight into the SPL.

When they do eventually return to the top flight, we will be light years in front of them. It will take them at least 10 years to begin to mount any sort of challenge.

In the intervening years, we can enjoy our supremacy and savour many big victories over them. The looks on their faces as we grind them into the midden, both on and off the park, will be a joy to behold.

    As I said . . . it’s better than nothing.

I’m inclined to agree re this is as much punishment they will receive.

I wonder if they will survive long enough to regain SPL or whatever first tier status is available.

Like yourself I am disappointed with both the punishment and Celtic’s supine attitude.

We can howl at the moon, and we do, but at the end of the day if Celtic board decide they are accepting it then the baw is up the slates.

  7. Apols if I’m jumping on anything – I haven’t been able to read anything since this morning.

    But summit dawned on me.

Why is it that, no matter what efforts those of us that care about everthing, go to, it only takes a smidgeon of right wing fudwittery to divert everyones’ attention to immigration, Catholic failure, the faults of the underclass, and those that have been posting on CQN for over 3 years?

Is it not possible that all the problems of the above are caused by the obscenely wealthy 0.05% ?

    Apols, thinking aloud… :)

I’m obviously a moon-howling nutter dealing with family members who can’t afford to go to flamin Dubai.

    I actually mean that.

Oor Canamalar is a star of Honesty. Hope he can get by in the company he’s going to be stuck with over there.

But am sure none of them will be perverted by the wealth and status proferred to them.

    Same as the Celtic Board.

  8. Tom,

    Amigo,

    You know I love ye.

But you’ve been laughing off the “masonic” theory since January.

You know it’s real, so why ridicule those that refer to it here?

FWIW, and I kid you not, my uncle is one of the biggest Australian freemasons out there. His brother (my Dad) and me aren’t too comfortable with that, as we have a good sense of justice and equality. Which means, we’d never deny its’ existence.

Sectarian singing, or any form of race or religious discrimination, is not acceptable,” said Green. “I know Rangers have made great strides, but anybody who is identified will be banned for life. There will be no appeals and nobody will be let off. If you’re stood next to the man and if you are not seen to be policing that, ie putting your hand up and saying, ‘arrest my best mate, because of his sectarian chanting’, I’m going to ban you as well. I feel so strongly about it.

No, not really. Am being quite specific. With no secret under-tones !! Purely in relation to what I said.

You have been very dismissive in recent months of “conspiracy theories” amigo, which made me laugh for the reasons I gave above…

  11. Mibbes an aside, or mibbes not, but this is a valued place to be on the internet.

That can inevitably lead to fall outs and the odd squabble.

But it’s also startingly revealing in some ways.

Especially on certain websites where the value and truth of your belief is key.

If you value your own belief strongly enough, you’ll stand by it.

Some posters can accept other points of view, and without attacking them, get their own point across, using evidence and a simple presentation of the facts.

Specific conspiracy theories perhaps, but I don’t recall being generally dismissive of Masonic conspiracy theories per se.

Have you never read my stuff on CQN re the Dunblane Masonic cover-up?

  14. Tom,

I did, and remember it well ! – which is another reason why I was very concerned about your dismissive tone re the football the other night. It doesn’t add up, that you’d have such a serious experience of masonry, but then dismiss it as nonsence so readily in relation to football??

  15. “nonsense”

But Tom, I’m recalling you applying the same “recent” logic to madness in the past week, which didn’t tie in with the story you’re referring to now, which I believed from you. I take most of what fholk say on CQN as gospel because I trust them – I’ve only found myself questioning yourself because of your odd posts where you dismiss others, despite what the experiences you’ve shared here in the past.

  21. Tom,

    No. It’s quite simple.

I got confused after reading your tales of masonry (which we all experience, I think?), when trying to tie them up with all of your posts from January 2013, which have all been very dismissive of the idea of “conspiracy theories”, “freemasonry”, and “organised crime”.

These aren’t your own direct quotes of course, but I can quickly share some of the highlights of what you’ve said since January if it will help?
