Tom, Davie, Development Squad face Valencia

Good luck to the Development Squad for their Uefa Youth League one-off cup tie against Valencia this evening. A win would see Celtic proceed to the quarter final – no mean feat when you consider the way some bigger league clubs harvest scores of youth players from across the globe.

Kick-off is 5pm, if you can get to Celtic Park. It’s not THE Champions League, but it’s an important metric we should follow.

Delighted Davie Hay and Tom Boyd are  Celtic Ambassadors. I see enough of what the Celtic support to here to know the value of the club, but we can never take these values for granted. The Celtic Movement needs leaders. Davie and Tom have been informal ambassadors of the club for years, as many of you can testi

Last penalty should have been retaken, goalie well off his line, even Celtic player took a look at the ref!

  2. What is the Stars on

    Terrible penalties

Ronny has to go after that

Never in my 868 years supporting keltic have I felt so betrayed by the masonic Maoists who run our club.

    Ronny out

Feel sorry for the youngsters being faced with a penalty shootout after running their hearts out for 97 minutes on the big pitch.

  4. So sorry for the young lads, but the excitement here when we have no negative opinion on the players from the media is pure, old fashioned, Jungle centric Celtic support

God bless you all, we are still proper supporters!

  5. Our last few penalties were poor. Is the rule about Keepers staying on their line gone. Their Keeper was 4 yards off for most if not all of our kicks.

Gutted for our kids but really proud of them.

  6. The kids did well but ran out of energy after 70 mins, the equaliser was coming I’m afraid.

But as somebody posted after Hampden last Sunday, what is it with us and left footed penalties?

Hey ho, there was some talent on show, the future looks bright enough.

    Unlucky lads.

Valencia keeper miles off his line on last two saves.

Linesman behind the goal watching too.

Can only assume it’s the guy from last year’s SC SF.

  8. Gutted for the Lhads at the end but overall it was a great performance against a big, strong and talented Valencia side. Check their birth certificates before they leave.

It was great to see a Celtic team winning 50/50s, tackling, heading corners clear while causing problems with set pieces at the other end and playing with spirit, passion and belief.

Some of the senior squad should watch this and hang their heads in shame.

  9. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

Well time for the off, I expect people will need to be getting told they have agenda that doesn’t correspond with the belligerent buffoons.

    Coney bhoy

See that fiachre kelleher. He should never wear the hoops again

Too many cork men in the team. Mark my words, you never win anything with kids. …from cork.

    Boycott the ross county game

  11. Some impressive youngsters in that youth match. Great game. We should have had a second that would definitely have won it. Strangely, Valencia came back into the match after getting a boy sent off. Henry among others looked excellent against a good Valencia team.

  12. Over the 90 minutes and indeed the penalties just about nothing between the 2 teams. Robbed a couple of minutes before the end when their defender was hit by a sniper and our Bhoy should have been clear in on goal. But a very enjoyable couple of hours giving this Bhoy hope for the future.

  13. Thank you for the updates from the youth match on here and from An Tearman by text from inside Paradise. Great service when you are stuck in work. :)

  14. Shame 2 chances to win it,GK off his line about 4 yards for some saves? Since I have been watching Celtic we have been consistently poor at 2 things

    1-taking throw ins

    1- playing against 10 men,with 1 notable exception.

  15. prestonpans bhoys on

Didn’t realise the game was on the telly until the penalties. So was watching shortbread who did a bit about plastic pitches. Union against it and unveil a St Johnstone player whose doctor has suggested he misses such surfaces. Then low and behold they show a video of him scoring at Celtic Park.

What’s the relevance, innocently asks Mrs Prestonpans, because that shop is full of Huns, was my reply………

  16. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

Hard luck to the young Bhoys

Development football- I’m sure they learned something tonight…

    Next year!

  17. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Bitter disappointment for the youths, but this game will do a lot for their confidence and development.

They dug in after a shaky start and more than matched an apparently older, more experienced team.

What really pleased me, since you asked, was the manner in which they supported each other on the ball – giving their team mate an option.

This concept hasn’t really registered with many of the first team yet.

The future looks good, when you consider that the top scorer, Nesbitt, was unavailable.

Well done, lads, a poor referee decision and the penalty lottery haunted your progress.
