Trophyless Saturday or trophyless existence

316

I know what you’re thinking. It’s Saturday, where’s Celtic’s trophy presentation?  Last Saturday it was the Scottish Cup, a week earlier, the Premiership trophy.  You can be forgiven for expecting the same today.

For me, the pick of last season’s trophies was the League Cup Final. Newco came into it in great form since the arrival of Mick Beale as manager.  It was a test of his credentials and of Celtic’s.  The dominance of the win belies the 2-1 scoreline, Celtic were miles ahead.

Speaking of dominance, it was rewarding to read that Barry Ferguson endorsed Celtic’s Generation of Domination in his Daily Record column. He wrote about our “decades of dominance”.

Although he goes on to say, “let’s be very, very clear. This dominance has to stop.”  Back in the day (January 2005), I asserted our G.o.D. started in 2000, so we are now onto the third decade, if that’s how Barry likes to count them, out the second generation, if you prefer.

What was missing from Barry’s piece is any hope that things were going to change. Barry is not as daft as some make out.

Better a trophyless Saturday than a trophyless existence.

Lots of fear in this game tonight

Neither team is commiting with numbers

Whomever commits players to support will get the first goal and win it I think

McManaman must be facing any from the pitch because nothing he’s describing is happening on the pitch

    —-

He’s hopeless. Offers nothing to a decent commentary. I’m quite enjoying the game but it’s not brilliant. Man city should have watch an old video on how to beat inter in a final

So as we prepare for a EUROPEAN Champions Leafue final between the Emirates owned Manchester City franchise and the Chinese owned Internazionale of Milan, 2 financially doped basket cases, it got me thinking about why do I not give a damn as to which of these outfits win ?

Badge kissing and faux passion will be there in spades. Hype and sound bites. Some really good football possibly. A few real fans from each team. Real genuine fans of clubs from before when they sold their souls. Maybe not many mind you.

    A perfect summation

If we ever get to that point then the baw is definitely up the dyke

    C’mon Inter

    Hate hate hate Man City

  4. McManaman getting basic defensive duties totally wrong there , and I mean basics I worked out for myself playing right back for my school.

I hate we are an unofficial feeder club

    Infact its worse

We are a sewer for them

As in we take in the unwanted (man) shitty

I know we are better than this

If only we had an oil state to launder money thru us………

  6. As a Sky Premiership winner a couple of years ago, I won 2 tickets for Man city v Chelsea league game.

Me and a pal went and the game to be fair was ok…2-1 Man City.

Thing that struck me the most was a) lack of atmosphere

    b) lack of REAL support

and c) the amount of “tourist supporters” in attendance. There was bud load upon bus load

    I think…Man City…if they’re lucky…have a fan base of around 20,000

Yet here they are contesting a major final…,

This is what the football authorities allow

  7. Mod

Who and when was the last player we got from Man City?

    Which ones were failures?

I can only count Arzani as a clear failure and that was down to a serious injury.

We got good service and an occasional transfer bonus from Frimpong, Boyar, N’tcham, Boyar, Roberts and Guidetti

  8. So…..looks like Man City have bought another trophy

Three cheers for Pep and the Man City billions

  9. When the huns were sweeping all before them during the minty years, their support didn’t give a funkeys muck about the way it was happening, I would wager that if we were winning CL cups, as a support on the whole, it would be the same, sadly.

    SFTB

    It’s just a feeling mate

We are putting to many of our eggs in the man shitty basket

    No overly alarming

But enough to raise and eyebrow to?

  11. Happy City won. Inter not my favourite side. My disdain for Helenio Herrera remains.

Not a great display of football.

City will go down in history as a runner up to our 67 achievement.

  12. One thing is for sure, Inter Milan are back as a top European team

And Manchester City did well to beat them.

    Pep joins the Pantheon

Alongside Jock Stein, Fergie et al

  13. Ah the romance of the Champions League and team not fancied and outwith the big leagues wins the big cup playing beautiful, inventive football.

Oh, wait that was the Lisbon Lions

Tonight that was won using billions of Arab blood money…

  14. Not one VAR check all game

Goes to show the referees can do it if they concentrate
