Uefa-Res 12, Craig Thomson, take a look at yourself

1052

The document from Uefa to the Resolution 12 team, which emerged online over the weekend, is genuine. The headline part of this correspondence was always going to be Uefa confirming that whatever errors or omissions on the part of Old Rangers and the SFA’s Uefa vetting process, no further action was possible as New Rangers are a “new club/new company”.

Priceless, I know, but a delightful wee surprise, though it was, the status of Newco Rangers wasn’t the purpose of Resolution 12. Res 12 was about SFA process and accountability.

There was a great deal of correspondence with media figures since the letter was produced. It’s probably worthwhile noting the chronology of correspondence:

Uefa wrote to the Res 12 team on 6 June, copying the SFA and Celtic. After this date Grant Russell at STV asked Uefa for an update and received pretty much the same information that was sent to the Res 12 guys, without the supporting “new club/new company” line.

You may be of the view that after receiving the 6 June letter, the SFA could have asked Uefa not to offer such information in future (the layers of this story are endless). We’ll never know, but the horse had already bolted.

As correspondence on Res 12 continues, the team decided not to attempt private conversations with Uefa while making correspondence public, which is why this leak didn’t come from the Res 12 team. But I’m glad it’s out. It’s the definitive and irrefutable reference point on the status of Newco Rangers, and it’s on Uefa headed notepaper.

I don’t expect I’ll be goaded about Res 12 online as often going forward.

While we’re on the subject of the SFA: Craig Thomson, take a look at yourself. You know this is not good enough.  Your decision-making this season has been atrocious. James Forrest booking, for staying several yards away from the crowd after scoring a goal, was ludicrous, capping a multitude of errors this month.

If only people at the SFA were accountable. Which brings us back to the point above.

Getting nervous about tomorrow.  So much on the line……

  2. The two biggest disappointments in my time supporting Celtic are, the Milan final and the Rapid Vienna cheats farce – first and second in that order.

Should we fail tonight and please God we won’t – then it would certainly go straight in to third spot.

However, funnily enough, I am more confident this week, than I was last – I think we can win this match.

Could be one BIG surprise in Brendan’s selection tonight – wait and see.

Penciling-in a visit to the new Brendan’s Bar in the Gallowgate, for sure at the weekend – need to remember to wear a white carnation to identify myself.

I like the quick reaction to situations. There is an argument that when momentum is with your opponent such as when we lost quick goals last week, any tactical change is good.

Not always true clearly but thankfully there is method in BR’s in game alterations and its helped us get this far, with a 3 goal lead 90 minutes from qualification,

It can be, depending on the circumstances.

    And in this case, yes.

Regarding the ‘flegs’….. if UEFA can see that those flags were in support of Palestine, rather than a protest against wrong’uns, then surely they must resist penalising the club too heavily (if at all).

You know something’s wrong in the world when a flag is seen as a weapon (not in the literal sense as in the hun at the cup final) and political madness manipulates the use of national flags, to suit agenda.

I admired the show of support at the home game. I was uncomfortable with the fact they knew it put the club in a difficult position. I’m happy to see that funds are being raised to cover any financial cost incurred by the club.

It’s a heavy subject which I’d probably rather didn’t involve football…. but as long as it’s seen as support rather than protest, I’m alright with it I guess.

    1-3 tonight.

  11. Heads up – I will point his out only once:

At the time of posting, Bet Victor are offering 20/21 – EVENS, virtually – on us scoring tonight.

Just scoring. One goal to double yer money. Best price anywhere else – 2/7.

    Pile in.

  12. Awe naw I was just sitting working out the perms. Only 3-0, 4-1 or a better score for them puts us out.

I’m greedy. I want to go through and I want an away win and the coeff points that gains. We have as good a chance as we are going to get to do both.

I think it’s very unlikely that a journalist would rewrite a direct quote from a written source on such a sensitive and controversial issue, not from any moral or professional scruple or principle, but just because they know the risk of being found out is too great.

Baseball boots were very different. `Sannies` were plimsoles whilst baseball boots resembled a canvas version of the current Basketball footwear.

    How very true.

I just hope that nobody over there has had a word in his ear, so to speak before kick-off. Those folk become most unpleasant when not getting their own way.

I’d say this could be a very, very tricky tie if things begin to go against us early on.

I’ll exhale on the 15minute if it is still 0-0

Nice comment by the Gaffer, regarding Celtic’s position, posted on here earlier.
