Uefa-Res 12, Craig Thomson, take a look at yourself

1052

The document from Uefa to the Resolution 12 team, which emerged online over the weekend, is genuine. The headline part of this correspondence was always going to be Uefa confirming that whatever errors or omissions on the part of Old Rangers and the SFA’s Uefa vetting process, no further action was possible as New Rangers are a “new club/new company”.

Priceless, I know, but a delightful wee surprise, though it was, the status of Newco Rangers wasn’t the purpose of Resolution 12. Res 12 was about SFA process and accountability.

There was a great deal of correspondence with media figures since the letter was produced. It’s probably worthwhile noting the chronology of correspondence:

Uefa wrote to the Res 12 team on 6 June, copying the SFA and Celtic. After this date Grant Russell at STV asked Uefa for an update and received pretty much the same information that was sent to the Res 12 guys, without the supporting “new club/new company” line.

You may be of the view that after receiving the 6 June letter, the SFA could have asked Uefa not to offer such information in future (the layers of this story are endless). We’ll never know, but the horse had already bolted.

As correspondence on Res 12 continues, the team decided not to attempt private conversations with Uefa while making correspondence public, which is why this leak didn’t come from the Res 12 team. But I’m glad it’s out. It’s the definitive and irrefutable reference point on the status of Newco Rangers, and it’s on Uefa headed notepaper.

I don’t expect I’ll be goaded about Res 12 online as often going forward.

While we’re on the subject of the SFA: Craig Thomson, take a look at yourself. You know this is not good enough.  Your decision-making this season has been atrocious. James Forrest booking, for staying several yards away from the crowd after scoring a goal, was ludicrous, capping a multitude of errors this month.

If only people at the SFA were accountable. Which brings us back to the point above.

Getting nervous about tomorrow.  So much on the line……

Remember people thought Samaras was slow, when he was 2nd fastest in the team apparently. Players with big strides can give the impression of not running at top speed, although they’re shifting along.

Here comes Tony attempting to take the discussion away from the football, and some on here were calling me the shit stirrer? I only defended my corner against the spurious allegations some on here were posting – and will continue to do so when i see it happening.

    Natknow,

So your saying we should use both of them ? I think they are identical in that midfield role and we need balance, some attack minded players balanced with defensive minded players. I definitely wouldn’t have Biton and Bitton on at the same time it would be like playing with only 10 men ? There that’s cleared that up I think :)

  7. Agree regards comments on Chris sutttons thoughts on Ronny delia . I feel he goes over the top with his views . Brendan Rodgers is the boss now ,and Chris should just be concentrating on now . But I,ll say this ,he doesn,t half fight our corner on BT sport. It’s great to have him in position . Creggan Rae and wee slinky Currie would have a free role to slaughter the celts at every turn if he wasn,t there . Sky and the Beeb could do with a Sutton on there programmes as well , balance the views out a bit . But I see a concerted effort coming for to out Chris . Thompsons wee spit of the dummy out the Pram on Saturday was the start to get rid Of suttton I fear .

  8. Tom Rogic is faster than the glacial Kris Commons.

Tom Rogic is faster than the leaden-footed Philippe Senderos.

Tom Rogic is will display all his speed tonight….from the bench.

  9. BT Sport are gambling with forthright Chris Sutton calling all the shots, it was fine when he was leading the ‘Deila out’ charge, but now he’s backing ‘proper manager’ Brendan Rodgers whilst on a collision course ‘calling out’ officialdom and the New Rangers mibbery.

I apologise if my message sounded aggressive. It certainly wasn’t my intention. I wasn’t telling anyone what they can and cannot post. I politely asked for an end to the in-fighting of the last few days. I even used the words “Can I respectfully request . . .” so was hardly laying down the law.

Enjoy the game and Hail Hail.

Well I’ll only enjoy the game for one result, wait, make that two no three. Better phrase, I’ll only no enjoy the game if we get put out, for every result that keeps us in the competition I will find a reason to enjoy it, there that’s cleared that up.

  14. I think Celtic will play the way BR wants us to play. Possession football. He likes his teams to have the ball. Lenny, wee Gordon and the blessed Martin were all comfortable with surrendering possession to varying extents. It worked to varying degrees.

I’d be surprised to see a backs to the wall display. I’m also confident that we don’t need one in this tie. The bear shavers are not particularly strong and, dare I say it given our own euro escapades in recent years, they look tactically suspect and defensively quite poor – despite their apparently stingy record in that area. They play in a league no better than our own and man for man we have better players.

I’m quietly confident of a win on the night. Hopefully the team will be, as Brendan requests, brave on the ball, not afraid to create a chance, have a dig and get tore in!

  15. I think Rogic is a great player and very fast feet for a big guy, and he’s hard to get off the ball when he gets steam up on one of his runs, Bitton I’d have no problem starting him tonight he stands out in European games I think, Brown a given, the other midfield space is up for grabs for a couple of players I think, Griff and Sinclair is working so no change there, back four, Michael, Kolo, Erik, JT, Goallie has to be CG don’t be silly, that’s my team, one maybe two changes could be but not more than that IMO.

I’m feeling a 1-3 result, but would settle for any result which gets us through!

No no, not at all, just clearing something up, and I said at the end of it back to football, as you can see by my previous post, OK?

  23. The most important thing for me tonight is not who BR picks but keeping 11 men on the park , if we do come under pressure at some stage which looks inevitable after watching last weeks game then we must be clever when giving fouls away , and definitely no silly bookings for dissent or kicking the ball away , we have to many players getting booked for things other than tackles .
