Understanding the perpetrators walked among us

485

We will never know the scale of sexual abuse in our institutions, or how far back in history they go; “historic” covers a lot of ground.  What we know for sure is the lifelong damage caused by this abuse.  Yesterday’s SFA review, apologies from clubs and the Association, and many criminal convictions, cannot repair the damage done, but it vindicates those who brought the issue to light.

It is hard to understand that the perpetrators walked among us, lived otherwise normal lives and held positions of respect.  It could be decades before we know if the problems of the past persist today, such is the imbalance of power between abuser and victim.  As a society, as families or as parents, we cannot be complacent.  Boys clubs, churches and youth organisations were targeted in the past, but if these types still walk among us, and they almost certainly do, they will look where vigilance is less.

  1. Bale is a disgrace, won’t play unless he’s 100% fit,and knows he’s not the top player at the Club, everything that’s wrong with modern football

  3. I don’t thing that the blog should be writing about covid19, or whatever,There are guys on here that have gone through a hell of a year and your comments don’t help the aged fans that post on this blog.

I’m 81 and 8 months and I’ve gone through a few hard years.

about 20 years ago I had half my intestines removed from my stomach I had the last rights a couple of days after my operation and I recovered eventually.

Next problem came a few years later when I couldn’t sleep and was taken to Edinburgh Infirmary for an overnight sleep test, when I woke up the next morning the doctor said I have a severe problem with sleeping and told me I stoppped breathing 92 times during the night,He said I had Sleep aponiaa.(Spelling) and was given a maskthat blew air into my lungs through a tube, it helped me to sleep quite well,

Then about 4 or 5 years ago I was being sick evertime I ate anything I lost about 8 stone in weight in a couple of months,I also survived that problem,

But then the covid 19 showed face and I started to worry again and that has gone on for as long as Covid showed face.

Thats why I don’t think you should be bringing Covid 19 up on this,or any other Blog,it doesn’t help People who are ill.

By the way I had my first Injection last Saturday, and I’d recommend it to everyone,it will save lives when everyone gets the Jab.

Apparently during the week he posted that he had a good training session – in reality he referred himself for s scan – nothing was found and the medics failed to identify anything either – but Jose left him out saying he had to trust his players.

Now he is a wage thief.

  5. OLDTIM67-god bless you buddy

My dad would have been 81 in March.

Don’t know if this counts, but the following comes from the match report on the BBC website.

Kilmarnock will probably feel aggrieved that they were not given the chance of an equaliser when they were denied a late free-kick after Danny Whitehall was fouled by Leon Balogun just outside the penalty box, but a draw would have flattered the visitors.

    Honest mistake of course.

  7. Re the request for today’s honest mistakes…

Ryan Jack’s Rangers stunner shouldn’t have counted claims Tommy Wright as Kilmarnock boss reveals referee admission

The new Ayrshire boss reckons his side have work to do but also claims they weren’t helped by the match officials at Ibrox.

Kilmarnock boss Tommy Wright says Ryan Jack’s wonder strike for Rangers shouldn’t have stood.

The Ayrshire side lost 1-0 at Ibrox on Saturday after the midfielder unleashed a stunning first half volley into the top corner.

But new Killie gaffer Wright believes there was a handball in the build-up to Jack’s goal which should have been spotted by referee Don Robertson.

He was pleased with his players’ efforts against the Premiership league leaders but admits they need more firepower.

Wright, who added Kyle Lafferty to his squad this week, said afterwards: “In the first half and parts of the second, we got into good areas.

“But a lack of commitment and belief in the final third meant we didn’t work the Rangers goalkeeper.

I don’t think we had a shot on target today so that’s something that has to improve.

“I was disappointed with their goal on two fronts. Firstly, we should have cleared our lines better from their free-kick.

“And secondly, it was a handball. After a header in the box it hits a Rangers player’s hand.

“The official should see that. It was a great finish from Jack, we can’t do anything about that.

“Whilst there are positives in terms of the effort, work rate and shape which was good – ultimately there’s huge disappointment that we didn’t do enough in the final third.

Box to box we’ve been pretty good. I can’t fault the attitude of the players.

“But with the run we’re on, there seems to be a real lack of belief in that final third. We didn’t have many opportunities today but the ones we did have, we should have done more with.”

Wright, whose Killie side are just a point above Hamilton and third bottom of the table, thought they might have got a penalty at the death against Rangers.

Sub Danny Whitehall claimed after a challenge from Leon Balogun, which Wright now accepts was just outside the box.

But he’s still perplexed as to why ref Don Robertson didn’t at least award a free-kick.

Wright said: “From ground level, it looked like a penalty kick all day long.

“But I’ve seen it back, slowed down and it’s just outside the box so somehow he got to the right decision.

“But he’s told our players it was a foul, but not a penalty. So I’m still trying to work that one out

You can talk about gout or anything else you want to talk about.

But I think you should give it a miss when you, and anyone else are talking about a Disease that is rampent the whole world over,.

I’ve never had the covid 19 disease, which I’m glad of,but there are millions who have had it ,and it’s still rampent all over the World and a percentage have died from it.

I said I had the first vacine jab but I still protect myself by wearing a mask and staying 6 ft apart, because I don’t want to pass it on to anyone else.

Just behave, like you want to protect others.

Glad to see you on the blog again.

Some of us don’t have the luxury of staying 6 feet apart, expected to work as normal here in Kuwait, guidelines are lip service.

Currently in quarantine because of close encounters of the Covid kind, test tomorrow and back to work Monday to do it all again.
