Understanding the perpetrators walked among us

485

We will never know the scale of sexual abuse in our institutions, or how far back in history they go; “historic” covers a lot of ground.  What we know for sure is the lifelong damage caused by this abuse.  Yesterday’s SFA review, apologies from clubs and the Association, and many criminal convictions, cannot repair the damage done, but it vindicates those who brought the issue to light.

It is hard to understand that the perpetrators walked among us, lived otherwise normal lives and held positions of respect.  It could be decades before we know if the problems of the past persist today, such is the imbalance of power between abuser and victim.  As a society, as families or as parents, we cannot be complacent.  Boys clubs, churches and youth organisations were targeted in the past, but if these types still walk among us, and they almost certainly do, they will look where vigilance is less.

  1. In Ireland, one pays about 50-60 yo-yo’s each visit to the Doctor…….( every time) …..Sobering, right!?.

The more you look after yourself, the less you have to consider shelling out to the Doctor.

    HH.

So guy calls in sick, says he’s infected, I get a call a couple of hours later telling me the guy I’d spent the day workshopping was infected and I should go home and self isolate.

I write an email advising everyone that I had contact with and the management that I’d be self isolating, I’d follow govt advice and wait the 2-6 day incubation period then get tested on 7th day.

Phone calls quickly stared arriving that the client policy was test on the 4th day and if all clear return on the 5th day.

Can I get that in writing said I, Ernie Lynch type tangent was the response.

  3. CANAMALAR.

If I was your age I’d probably still be working, but I would still behave myself.

I live straght across from a public parkand I see people going in and out of the every day,and they’re holding hands and even kissing, and it’s all ages that are commiting this sin.

  4. Over Christmas, I gave up exercise for the two weeks of the holiday.

I put on weight and my 5K time plummeted in line with the temperatures……….

Do I blame Santa ( or Santy, as he’s known here)

or is it just down to me and my behaviours?

  5. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

Sorry Davy, I’m no sure what you mean by “behave yourself” care to expand?

I wrote that last post and just put it on the blog without spell cheching my post,I read it after I posted it and saw the mistakes,I wrote it without having my glasses on, sorry.

  7. I listened to the Homebhoys podcast from last night. They had made an appeal last week on behalf of the Kano Foundation to raise £20 grand for them so season tickets for next season could be bought.

Word was put out over the internet ,Twitter face book etc plus a post was posted here earlier this week explaining the precarious financial position the Kano Foundation are in,

Last night the amount raised by supporters, CSC’s here and abroad , the Affiliation and CSA was £19, 616. I believe the amount raised is now over the target of £20,000.

One of the few shining lights this season is our support rallying to the call to help keep football free for kids.

I can’t do the link uploads but donations are still welcome via their website. The video celebrating them taking their ten thousandth child to one our games is really heartwarming.

I’m told cherry juice for gout. Hopefully get a chance to catch up again hail hail

  11. Someone on here mentioned Graham Potter as a potential future Celtic manager. His Brighton side play lovely stuff at times – just lack a bit of cutting edge but with his miracles in Sweden and decent work he’s doing with Brighton, he should at least be on a potential short-list.

I was still hoping right until the last minute, was still clearing ice when my phone vibrated with the news. Was expected but still a sad day.

“There’s no question, none, that President Trump is practically, and morally, responsible for provoking the events of the day,” McConnell said.

Why didn’t you get your folks to vote the correct way then?

    Beer o’clock here.
