We will never know the scale of sexual abuse in our institutions, or how far back in history they go; “historic” covers a lot of ground. What we know for sure is the lifelong damage caused by this abuse. Yesterday’s SFA review, apologies from clubs and the Association, and many criminal convictions, cannot repair the damage done, but it vindicates those who brought the issue to light.
It is hard to understand that the perpetrators walked among us, lived otherwise normal lives and held positions of respect. It could be decades before we know if the problems of the past persist today, such is the imbalance of power between abuser and victim. As a society, as families or as parents, we cannot be complacent. Boys clubs, churches and youth organisations were targeted in the past, but if these types still walk among us, and they almost certainly do, they will look where vigilance is less.

I tend to apply logic to the accusations made by the west, remeber this is a tried and trusted western strategy, to use Islamic fundamentalists to destabilize countries, they tried this and when the Chinese cottoned on and spoiled their party then they doubled down and tried to blame the Chinese for taking action by banning entry of the western agents to the region to continue their campaign to radicalise the muslim population. Obviously their failure would be followed up by a campaign to cry foul and stir up as much trouble as possible in an attempt to embarrass China into allowing their agents to return and do their bidding, when the Chinese stuck to their guns then the smear campaign follows like night follows day, FFM man you’ve seen it many many times why are you still blind to it.

You do have a wee tendency to try to force others down your burrows with your “ma sources are better than your sources. If you don’t believe what I read your vision is clouded by the totalitarian regime you blindly bow to.” That isn’t discussion.
I am on Reddit every day, have you noticed some of the changes on there since it got a round of funding from a tech company in a country that always blocks and censors it? What country was that?

Yip, first time mRNA systems have been used as a therapeutic, although they are used in this case as vaccines and not treatments which is a significant distinction.
You have choices, of course: An mRNA vaccine; A non-mRNA alternative (Eg Ox/AZ or Janssen etc); Wait and see and let everyone else take your risk before getting vaccinated; Don’t get a shot at all and let everyone else sort the risk for you assuming uptake protects the population at large.
You’re not short of choices, but you should try to ensure that your valid scepticism isn’t confused with anti-vax type patter. There is no evidence that mRNA vaccines cause (unacceptable) harm, and a volume of evidence that they provide considerable benefit. That doesn’t mean evidence won’t emerge in the coming years, but for the time being there is no cause for concern beyond natural and valid caution.

Unfortunately I’m stuck in a country that has access to only one (Pfizer) option however I am lucky that they will vaccinate their own population before the share it with anyone else. Hopefully the Chinese or Russian will become available before that happens.
I suppose the short term benefits are enough for most, as I say, I’m concerned about long term effects of something that has never been used before. Something that actually communicates with the DNA, hope they got their message right without any ambiguities eh.
